  1. If the likes of Fleck,Effrem,Lennon ect start to get more involved then the likes of PL,KM won't be needed as they are a gamble,so i'd rather we gambled with the young players if we cannot get in some real quality.
  2. If the budget is tight I would rather WS concentrated on buying attacking flair players.Yes we could do with a RB,CB and possibly a LB,but we really need players who are going to create chances so IMO midfield/forwards should be priority
  3. What is WS transfer funds ?,if rumours are corrcect it's 10mill,if this is true then I don't think it's enough, how many quality players can we get for that ?.I really hope he gets more than than that to spend,we have had enough of signing mediocre players and I for one think the fans deserve to see some quality after too long watching average players pull on the Rangers FC jersey.I know our days of signing Laudrup,Gazza,Albertz and the likes are gone, and I also appreciate the fact that we need to keep our finances in order, but we have just had a financially successfull season and I think WS should be given a decent amount of money to bring the SPL title back home, also we the fans deserve a team worth watching and bragging about, especially so we can stick two fingers up to all the Rangers HATERS !!!!!!.Sir David Murray.................get yer finger oot and give WS some proper backing because WE ARE THE PEOPLE.
  4. The same could be said about Miller !!!!
  5. Jorg Albertz says Kenny Miller could be an Ibrox hit despite fan opposition May 31 2008 By David McCarthy JORG ALBERTZ never did realise his ambition to make a return to Rangers before hanging up his boots. The closest he got was a reunion with John Brown and Andy Goram at the end of last season when he helped keep Clyde afloat in the First Division. But the German, who left Ibrox with a heavy heart under Dick Advocaat in 2001, is watching with interest as two of his former teammates edge closer to pulling on a Rangers jersey for a second time. Kenny Miller will be almost certainly unveiled as a Rangers player for the second time in the near future, while Peter Lovenkrands is agitating for a return that would be more welcomed by the support than the Derby County striker's arrival. Then again they'd rather see Filip Sebo back than Miller, whose "crime" was to cross the city, play for Celtic and celebrate wildly scoring a goal against Rangers. Albertz knows all that and believes Miller will have his work cut out to win over the Rangers fans for a second time. But he trusts Walter Smith's judgment and claims if the manager believes Miller can be an asset the supporters should give him another chance. That said the 37-year-old can also understand the resentment felt by the support and while he acknowledges Miller's right to do what he likes with his career, Albertz insists he could never have signed for Celtic having played for Rangers. He said: "I wouldn't have gone to Celtic anyway. Not after playing for Rangers and being so accepted by their fans. "But when Kenny was at Wolves he got an offer from Celtic - and I don't mind saying they are a good club - and decided for football reasons it was the best thing for his career to go there. "That was his decision but I'm sorry, if you've played for Rangers you don't go to Celtic. That's my opinion. "Maybe these days things have changed a little bit and it is not the way it was in my time or the time before me. "But Walter has to look at getting good players in who can do the job for Rangers and have success again. "They won two cups but they must win the league next season. That must be the priority and if the manager thinks Kenny can help Rangers do that then his opinion has be trusted, where the player played for Celtic or not." However, Albertz believes Miller's industry and whole-hearted approach to the game can turn around the opinions of those who don't want him back at Ibrox. He added: "It will be difficult for Kenny, to be honest. He'll know the fans are unhappy but he has experienced that before when it took him a long time to be accepted by the Celtic supporters. "He'll have to do it again with Rangers. But if he performs well, shows the right attitude and gives everything for the club - which he should do - then maybe they will take to him again. "I played with Kenny and he is a talented player. In my time he was a young kid there but you could tell he had potential. He made great progress and is an established international player. "It's up to the gaffer, of course, if he thinks a player can help the team. And you also have to look at the money he has to spend as well. "If he can't spend a huge amount he has to look at players in his price range and if Kenny fits that why not go for him?" As for Lovenkrands, his former team-mate Albertz believes he is coming to the prime time in his career and Rangers could be the beneficiaries. The Dane was never universally acclaimed at Ibrox but in his six years he scored vital Champions League and Old Firm goals, ironically finding his best form in his last six months when being played through the middle. Lovenkrands moved to Schalke two years ago and after an initially successful spell in the Bundesliga he struggled to hold down a starting slot last term. Now the attacker, who has a Scottish wife, wants to return to Glasgow and Albertz believes the move could be beneficial to Rangers and the player. He said: "I played with Peter and everybody knows what he can give a team - genuine pace and the ability to score goals. "The problem at Schalke was he had an injury that kept him out for a long time and when he came back couldn't find his normal standard. "That meant he spent time on the bench and when Schalke got a new manager he didn't play Peter as much. Schalke are a big club with a talented squad so he found it hard to get back into the team and I'm not too surprised he is looking to leave. "I'm also not surprised to learn he is keen to go back to Rangers. They are that kind of club - once you have played there you know it is difficult to find anywhere better. He knows all about Rangers and like many others before him he has tried football somewhere else and now his first choice will be to return to Ibrox. "I've no doubt Peter could do a job for Rangers. He's definitely still got his pace and at 28 is just coming to the prime time in his career. "He has quality and is the kind of player who could play in any team because he is quick and knows how to score goals. "If he has space in front of him and someone like Barry Ferguson feeding him the ball he can hurt any defence because he is like lightning when he is through on goal. "You can't blame Peter for letting Walter know that he wants to come back!"

  7. No.........but i'd take him before PL,he's a lazy chunt who plays now and again, far too inconsistent
  8. Well I for one hope PL doesn't return
  9. This is the main stumbling block, however FIFA are allowing teams to sign as many foreign players as they want but limiting how many actually play
  10. Well not really...............I did say he has talent !!!!!!!!!
  11. I hope we don't sign Lovenkrands, didn't cut it first time round apart from a couple of decent performances in europe, very similar to Buffel, has the talent but only play now and again.
  12. Promotion to England's Premier League is worth at least £60m and is the biggest financial boost a football club can receive, analysts Deloitte say. The Championship teams who win a Premier League place get £30m from TV rights, plus £5m from extra sponsorship and merchandising deals each season. Even those who are relegated after one season get £24m over the next two years, taking the total to about £60m. That is more than the Champions League, which can net English clubs £30m. The size of the prizes is set to attract more money into the game, according to the accountancy firm Deloitte. "There will continue to be significant investor interest from around the globe for English clubs, in part driven by the prospect of the financial rewards and global exposure of the Premier League competition," said Alex Byars from Deloitte's Sports Business Group. Three Championship clubs will be promoted to the Premier League next season. The two highest placed teams gain automatic promotion, with the third place going to the winner of a round of play-off matches. Footballing riches League One football clubs winning spots in the Football League Championship next season will also receive a 30% increase in revenue. Already-promoted Swansea City and two others can expect to receive a financial boost worth £1.4m, according to Deloitte. English teams - though not recently promoted ones - are amongst the most valuable football clubs in the world, according to a recent rich list. Forbes magazine this week named Manchester United the world's most valuable football club, worth £905m. Fellow Premier League title contenders Arsenal were third, valued at £603m.
  13. It will be part of the deal that brings Rise to Ibrox !!!

    Kris Boyd

I Want To Lead Title Charge by Lindsay Herron HAMPDEN hero Kris Boyd has insisted that he wants to remain with Rangers next season and lead the charge for the SPL title. The 24-year-old striker hinted after Saturday's dramatic 3-2 win over Queen of the South in the Scottish Cup Final that he may have to move on for the sake of his career. However, there is only one place that Boyd wants to be and that's Rangers. Beasley and Boyd celebrateAlthough he only started 24 of Rangers' 68 games this season Boyd has been the difference between success and failure. He almost single-handedly won the CIS Cup in March by scoring both goals in the 2-2 draw with Dundee United and then the winning penalty in the shootout. And last Saturday he was the man that mattered again with two terrific goals in the Scottish Cup Final, the second of which guaranteed the silver. He said: "I'm a Rangers man and I do want to fight on. It's one of these things. I have given my best and I will continue to do that. "We will go from here and hopefully I am still here next season. "I'm happy with 25 goals for Rangers this season but of course I would have liked to have played more and I would have liked to have scored more. "We are obviously delighted to win the two domestic cups. We set out to win the league and we didn't get there but we will be back chasing for that next season." Boyd, who has had to wtihdraw from Scotland's squad for Friday's friendly with the Czech Republic in Prague, is pragmatic enough to say that the astonishing run in Europe this season had a detrimental effect on the championship challenge. Rangers dropped two points to Dundee United after facing Sporting Lisbon at Ibrox. They lost at Parkhead after the Ibrox draw with Fiorentina and were then held at Easter Road following the penalty Kris Boyd celebratesshoot-out win over the Italians. Four more points from these games would have given them the title, the way things worked out. However, to reach a major European final is something very special and Boyd cherishes his involvement, getting the last few moments in the City of Manchester Stadium. He said: "The UEFA Cup was a one-off. We had an amazing run to get to the final. "It was obviously disappointing to lose it but to get there was a terrific achievement. "It's probably cost us the league, when you look at it. But you are unlikely to have the chance of a UEFA Cup medal again. "It's life. You have to get on with it and I'm sure we will be back next year fighting for the league."

  17. by Lindsay Herron ALLAN McGREGOR has had a tidy-up operation on his knee which has been described as a total success and he should be fit to start next season. The Rangers No1 has been strucxk down with an ankle problem since April 16 when he was injured at Celtic Park and he is currently recovering from that. Alexander comes on for McGregorThe Murray Park medical team then discovered a knee problem and decided to have this looked at during this period. Some tidy-up surgery has been done and the prognosis is that the 26-year-old will be recovered by the start of next season. He will continue to be treated for the ankle problem over the close season with a view to being ready for pre-season. Meanwhile, luckless Andy Webster is to have a hernia operation today. He has been accompanied to England by club doctor Paul Jackson. It has been one problem after another for Webster, who initially jpined Rangers on loan from Wigan Atheltic in January 2007 and has only played one competitive match since then. He damaged his knee in his first training session which ruled him out for the rest of the 2006/07 season.Andy enjoyed his run out against Dumbarton He then played in the friendly against LA Galaxy at Home Depot Center in California and took part in pre-season. Webster then made his Rangers debut against Gretna and scored on September 1. However, he suffered an ankle injury in a closed door game against Ayr United and then he needed further knee surgery in October of last year. Now this hernia problem is the latest setback for the Scotland defender who has played just five matches in the last two seasons.

    Kris Boyd

Smith Says Boyd Has Future WALTER SMITH has insisted that Kris Boyd can still be influential player at Rangers despite concerns from the Hampden hero that he might have to move on this summer. Boyd was the Cup King for the second time this season as his goals secured a 32nd Scottish Cup for Rangers having virtually single-handedly won the CIS Cup in March. However, he was uKris Boyd celebratessed sparingly throughout the 68-game campaign prompting thoughts that he might have to leave his boyhood heroes. Smith said: "He's helped us win two cups this season with four goals in the two games. "He is one of those players who is always liable to get you a goal. "I'm quite happy to have him and there is no problem in that respect from my point of view. "We have played him in a lot of games and he has finished up our top goalscorer. "I don't see it as a great problem but I know, from his point of view, he wants to play more often than he has this season. "And maybe next season he will play more often. "The stronger you get as a team, the more productive Kris Boyd will be. "When you start out as we did with a brand new team you are never quite sure about its overall strength and he is not the ideal striker if you are only going to play with just one. "He needs a partner to play with and needs the team to be strong round about him to get the best from him and that's not always an easy combination."
  22. He hs been superb all season at LB,not sure if he has the phisycal strength to play CB,however he deserves a chance in his correct position
