    Alan Gow

I think there's no doubt he's special, but I would also be reluctant to expose him to the Ibrox boo boys, nah seriously the lad looks like he could make his mark this season in the first team, let's hope so

    Alan Gow

It certainly is a bit of a mystery, the guy looks like he has what it takes to at least break into the team, and I for one would like to see him get a chance, but only Walter can answer the question why he is not getting near the first team !!!!!!

    Kris Boyd

Boyd is the only player on the books that you could say will get you goals, some argue he is ok for the SPL and is no good in europe.Well next season the SPL is a must so we will need his goals so therefore has to stay IMO
  4. I'm very much still undecided about Beasley, hasn't done enough for me to get excited about yet
  5. I agree Thomson had a good season and Barry didn't have as good a season as he is capable of,but I don't think Thomson was better than Barry all season
  6. So it's all BF fault then ?
  7. Barry for me.No other midfielder has played as consistently for Rangers than Barry. His form has dropped no doubt about that, but the question is who is the best, not who is on form.
  8. Aye,IMO without doubt he is deffinately our best midfielder and Scotlands, his form is not good as I have already agreed with.So is it his form you are talking about or his talent ?
  9. So what you're saying is we should sell our best midfielder because the rest of the midfielders are not of good quality ?
  10. IMO Barry needs better players around him, which we don't have,if we had players making good runs off the ball i'm sure Barry would find them, instead of being forced into turning too much and playing the sideways pass. Also when he makes forward runs how many times does he receive a good ball ?,not many.It has been stated on here that he is stifling Rangers, maybe the players around him are stifling him !!,i'm not dissagreeing he has been poor but I am dissagreeing about the reasons that are being stated here about him being poor.Sell him ?,well every player has his price so yes,but only if we can bring in a quality replacement, which isn't going to happen,so no we should not sell him, what we need is the other players to be taking more responsibilty in games, not just him,and for me that is the problem,we don't have quality midfeild players and haven't had for a long time now.IMO you would see the real Barry if he was surrounded by quality players.
  11. You never know,he might fancy playing for WS as he did with Scotland, like KM !!!!!

    Kris Boyd

Exclusive: Walter Smith tells Kris Boyd that he's major part of Rangers' plans Jun 22 2008 Exclusive By Mark Guidi And Scott Mcdermott WALTER SMITH has told Kris Boyd he wants him to stay at Rangers - and guaranteed the striker a major role in his new-look side. Boyd is being chased by Championship outfit Cardiff who are expected to increase the s2.5million offer they had rejected on Friday night. The Scotland star does not want to leave Ibrox despite the arrival of three new hitmen and feels he can help Gers win the SPL and make an impact in the Champions League next season. Boss Smith shares that view and held a heart-to-heart with the player to assure him he will be a key man. The Gers gaffer knows Boyd guarantees at least 25 goals a season and won't authorise his sale. A source close to Boyd told MailSport: "Kris thought he may have to leave but has been assured he is in the manager's plans and is delighted because quitting Rangers is the last thing he wants. "Kris can now focus on helping Rangers and improving his own game. "The past few days have been unsettling but he now knows the situation and is happy the gaffer wants him." It is more likely Daniel Cousin will be offloaded for around s2.5million and Jean-Claude Darcheville may also be heading for the exit. Rangers have spent more than s6m in the past week to land Kenny Miller, Andrius Velicka and Kyle Lafferty. But rather than being surplus to requirements, Boyd will be given the chance to partner Miller up front, particularly in home games. Darcheville's future is now in real doubt yet he insists he'll still be at Ibrox next term to fight for a starting slot. The Frenchman said: "The fact Rangers have signed three strikers doesn't worry me - it excites me. "If we can strengthen all positions we'll have a strong squad and at a big club you need competition for places. "I love Rangers and am settled here. I don't want to leave." Meanwhile, Gers have snubbed three SPL clubs who want Alan Gow - despite trying to flog him to Burnley as part of the Lafferty deal. Dundee United, Motherwell and Aberdeen have all made enquiries but Ibrox chiefs would rather sell the 25-year-old to England. Gow will return for preseason training on Thursday but his future lies away from Ibrox and several Championship clubs could move in.
  13. Decent game, the Russians played well, but I can't help thinking it was because the Dutch were poor. Don't know the rules, but IMO the booking should have stood, you play to the whistle, and I think it was the linesman who flagged after the booking had been given !!!!,but I agree on seeing the replay there was nothing in it,still should have counted though
  14. If we are to be a more attacking team next year, not 451,then IMO Boyd must stay, unless there is another signing to come in who will score goals !!!!
  15. Cardiff will come back with an improved offer for Rangers striker Kris Boyd and are willing to go to £3.5m for their number one striking target. (Evening Times, 1600 GMT)
  16. AT the request of Rangers Football Club, Sir David Murray and Martin Bain met today with Lex Gold, Executive Chairman of the Scottish Premier League. A frank and constructive discussion took place, covering a wide range of issues and concerns. The purpose of this meeting was to 'clear the air' and this was achieved. Going forward, this exchange of views has now provided a platform for the future and will help ensure the avoidance of difficulties encountered last year. A nice wee cup of tea and a friendly chat..................go on guys, you tell them
  17. Jun 15 2008 By Gordon Waddell SCOTLAND will have five teams in Europe from next summer as the UEFA Cup gets a massive revamp. But the move comes at a price - with the SPL's fourth-placed team facing a possible summer break of just four weeks before having to play their first European qualifier. European football chiefs have opted to scrap the Intertoto Cup after 14 seasons and incorporate the games as qualifiers in a bigger UEFA Cup that will kick off in June next year. And that means a massive shift because competing in those early rounds will now become mandatory. That's a change from the Intertoto as clubs could choose not to apply for a place. Scotland's top two in the SPL will still qualify for the Champions League and new changes give our champions a better chance of a direct route to the group stages. But instead of the two UEFA Cup spots currently on offer - along with the option of one team to play in the Intertoto - three clubs will now go straight into that competition. As part of an edict from UEFA president Michel Platini the Scottish Cup winners will start in the final qualifying round before the group stages. But the SPL's third and fourth placed teams will play one and two rounds more respectively. SPL secretary Iain Blair said: "The changes next year are major. "Everyone knows Celtic go straight into the group stages of the Champions League this season and that's because of Manchester United winning last term's final in Moscow. "But Celtic wouldn't normally do that from 10th place in the rankings where we are just now. "After next season our champions WILL go into the group stages and that's good right down to 12th place. "It doesn't change for our second team. They will still have to play two qualifying rounds. "But the UEFA Cup is where it does change. They've brought the Intertoto and UEFA Cup together which means it's now compulsory to play - the Intertoto was always voluntary. "As of next summer two clubs will go into the Champions League while the sides in third and fourth place will go into the UEFA Cup along with the Scottish Cup winners. "But they will be starting early. The Scottish Cup winner will go into qualifying round four which is the last one before the group stage. "The only team who will qualify directly for the group stage will be the winner of the competition. "The UEFA Cup will start in June and participation is mandatory. "If a team don't want to start their season in June or early July they no longer have a choice. "The third-placed team in the SPL will go in at qualifying round three and the fourth-placed team will go in at round two which is early in July. "It's not an option to refuse it. The regulations say they play - that's it. So a team could play in the Cup Final on May 30, lose it and be playing in Europe four or five weeks later. "That's certainly a possibility. And to be fair our league season only finishes a week earlier anyway. So it's still a short break." And that could be made worse every second year when either the World Cup or European Championships eat even further into the summer. Blair added: "If it's a year where there's a championship, the international team could be playing June or early July and the European competitions will already have started by then. "And the international competition takes precedence so you could be without players in the UEFA Cup." However, if Scotland want another UEFA Cup place it's going to take a quantum leap in Euro performances to overhaul Holland, Romania or Portugal directly above us in the European rankings. Blair admitted: "We're now 10th but to increase the number of clubs you need to get to eighth. "Ninth is achievable in the short term, depending on what other countries do, but eighth would take a couple of good years in Europe to have a serious chance."
  18. Pete, surely you don't mean that ?,do you not think that would set us back even further, plus don't you think WS deserves a second season to see where he takes the team ?
  19. I am of the same way of thinking here Craig, unfortunately i'm not so sure that this will happen,I actually fear what kind of response Miller will get,and you can be rest assured the first bad game he has he will get slaughtered,I hope i'm wrong !!!!!!!!
  20. Where does it say this ?,i've not seen/heard anything
  21. However, Smith is working on a shoestring budget of his own this summer and - with little more than £6m available to him - he could be faced with a very difficult decision if a big bid comes in. What the fuck is this ?,I hope this is just the usual pish from the Record !!
  22. The quality,or lack of quality, players that we are able to attract means we at least need players who will play for the jersey,Buffel & PL deffinately don't fall into the category of playing for the jersey
  23. Fookin bassa,a penalty in the last minute to feck my koopin up !!!!!!!!!
  24. I put a £10 bet on at the start of the tournament,Czech to beat Swiss, and every team to beat Austria, also put £10 on Torres for top goal scorer !!!!!
