  1. So MF,what is it you would actually want us,{ Rangers fans },to do to make all the right changes,in your view,to take Rangers FC forward ?.You clearly dislike Murray,Bain,Walter, and probably everything that is happening at Ibrox just now,so what is it you want to change and how would you suggest the best way to make these changes ?.Why don't you come out with some reasonable way of changing what it is you want the Rangers fans to do for the benefit of Rangers FC ?.Don't get me wrong here,I think you have some very valid points, but all I read from most of your posts is how badly Rangers FC is run,and how some of us are so spineless to do anything about it, what changes would you like to see happening ?,who would you want to replace these people ?,and how would you think that these changes would work ?
  2. Rangers will win the treble
  3. o Offers For Cuellar WALTER SMITH has confirmed that he still has money to buy at least two new players to bolster his squad and also knocked back suggestions the club is looking to sell fans' favourite Carlos Cuellar. Despite going out of Europe to FBK Kaunas on Tuesday night the Gers' gaffer insists this has not affected his transfer budget but did highlight the difficulties he has encountered in finding the quailty of player he wants at the club. Carlos CuellarWith three weeks of the current transfer window to go Smith is actively looking for suitable targets but has no intention of losing the club's current Player of the Year. He said: "We have no offer for Carlos and that is where we stand right now. We don't want one and are not seeking one and we don't need to sell the player, or any player, at this stage. "I don't have to offload players but I think it's a natural situation that some were going to leave anyway. "That will still happen but this is not because of our failure to get into the Champions League. "We had some money to spend before Tuesday night and we still have that but we are having a difficulty in getting the level of player that we want. "That's been a difficult task over the close season but there is money there for us to bring in a couple of players yet. "We have specific areas of the pitch we want to improve but we're hopeful in the remaining three weeks of the transfer window we can do that." Smith has received a barrage of criticism in newspaper columns and from fans after Tuesday night's Euro exit in Lithuania but realises this comes with the territory at any big club. He said: "Nobody likes to be criticised in any way, shape or form but when you become a football manager you don't expect to go through your career without receiving that at some stage. Walter Smith "If you are not prepared to accept the criticism you should not be a football manager. "When you lose in the manner we did on Tuesday night to Kaunas you expect criticism and it is deserved, I totally accept that. "I have had it before but all you can do is try to recover and get on with the job in-hand. That's exactly what we will do. "I'm not responsible for how people react but we can only feel the disappointment of the result in Kaunas and there is no doubt every one at the club feels it, from the Chairman all the way down. "But we have to move on and make sure this does not affect our domestic results. "We must look at the Kaunas games and raise our standards, starting this weekend against Falkirk."
  4. Falkirk Injury Latest WALTER SMITH has confirmed that Kenny Miller is almost certain to miss tomorrow's SPL opener against Falkirk and that Carlos Cuellar will not be ready in time to face the Bairns. Miller has picked up a thigh knock while Carlos is still a few days away from making a full recovery from a calf injury. Carlos CuellarWith David Weir and Nacho Novo also suspended Cuellar's absence will give Smith a defensive headache and might pave the way for recent signing Madjid Bougherra to make his Gers' debut. The gaffer, speaking at this afternoon's press conference at Murray Park, would not give away his starting eleven but hopes his Spanish centre-half will return to face Hearts at Ibrox next week. He said: "Kenny has a thigh knock which looks as though it will keep him out of tomorrow's game. "He is touch and go right now but looks as though he will miss that one. "Carlos will not make it but will almost certainly back next week." Smith admitted the disappointment of losing to Kaunas on Tuesday night still lingers but insists his players have no option but to lift their heads for tomorrow's SPL clash at the Falkirk Stadium.David Weir He said: "We suffered a big blow in midweek and that doesn't go way after a couple of days. But we can't let it affect our overall season. "There will be an extra pressure on us to start the league well so our thoughts must be on that and we can't be too disappointed going to in to the Falkirk match. "It will be a difficult game and they have strengthened their squad. "Last year I think John perhaps thought that his team was a bit too young and he has moved to bring in a few experienced players this summer. "It's never an easy place to go but we have to go there and be confident of getting a win, I have no doubt we can do that."
  5. Aye it looks good, quite smart
  6. Cheers Frankie

  8. Again,I agree with you,I think i'm just a wee bit scared to change at this point in time.
  9. I don't think Walter should be sacked,he has to turn this season round by at least winning the title back,if not then he should go.I really don't think it would help us at this time to try and get another manager in.
  10. I agree with this, for me anyway I think SDM should be more open, not staying in the back ground, which gives the impression to the fans that he doesn't give a shit about Rangers.Let us know what your intentions are SDM.
  11. BILLY KIRKWOOD will take an under-18 squad to Broadwood tonight to take on Old Firm rivals Celtic in the final of the Glasgow Cup. Billiy Kirkwood, Rangers and John McLaughlanThe showdown, which could not be played at the end of last season, will give fans of both clubs the chance to see the some of the country's best young talent in action as they bid to become the city's top side at this age level. Rangers defeated Partick Thistle to book their place in the final while Queens Park suffered at the hands of the Hoops. Murray Park kids including captain Danny Wilson (pictured), Jamie Ness and Archie Campbell will be joined by current under-17 players such as Max Wright and Gordon Dick in the Gers' squad. And Kirkwood hopes his troops can rise to the challenge against John McLauglan's team and bring the magnificent trophy back to Auchenhowie. He said: "This game is a historical one from last season. "Because it is not being played until now it's effectively become an under-18 cup final although it is still our under-17 team from last season that will mainly be involved. "Regardless it should be a fantastic occasion and the fact that Celtic have also reached the final will make it a bit special. "Old Firm games at every level are always competitive and fans tend to come in high number to give their support so everyone is looking forward to the match. "It's a good education for our young lads to be in a final and it's a beautiful trophy so we all hope we can get our hands on it on Thursday night." Billy is excited by the number of players coming through the ranks at Murray Park with great potential and believes the Glasgow Cup final, which will be decided by penalty kicks if the sides are level after 90 minutes, will be the perfect stage for them to showcase their talents. He said: "There will be a lot of international players on show for us at Broadwood and I Celtic will have the same.Grant Gallagher, Celtic and Danny Wilson, Rangers "The game is a good opportunity for fans to come along and see some of the players that are coming through the ranks below the Reserves and under-19s. "It should be a great game and fingers crossed we can bring another piece of silverware back to Murray Park." Captain Danny Wilson is looking forward to leading his team out in a Old Firm Cup final. He said: "It should be a great night and to face Celtic in a Cup Final will be a brilliant feeling. "Hopefully we can win the game and all the boys are well up for it." Tomorrow night's game at Broadwood will kick-off at 7.30pm
  12. There may be a few,as there are a few new names on the boards, sad if they are
  13. Not denying Smith gets the blame, just pointing out the fact that the players that did play, should've done better
  14. While WS gets the blame for picking the wrong team, playing the wrong tactics, you would still think the players that did play should be good enough and experienced enough to beat Kaunas
  15. Now that we are out of europe,Boyd should start to get more game time,as everyone keeps saying '' he's no good against the good sides '',well all we have left is the domestic treble to go after, play the man or get rid of him
  16. From Lindsay Herron in Kaunas WALTER SMITH admitted Rangers were not good enough as they crashed out of Europe at the first hurdle after a shock defeat in Lithuania tonight. After hitting the high of 19 games in Europe last season and reachng the UEFA Cup Final Rangers suffered the horror low of going out at the first time of asking. Smith was shattered and admitted that his players did not reach the required level to progress. He sadi:"Steven Whittaker and Kirk BroadfootIt's obviously a huge blow for everyone. We didn't do well enough over the two legs and we have paid the price for that. "It's a reasonable excuse to use that the effects of last season are still with the players but I don't think it is a relevant one. "I think the importance of tonight's game should have been enough for us but we haven't reached the right level so far this season. "We could have extended our lead when we were one up but I didn't feel we ever looked comfortable in the game. "The goals we lost we were well warned about. Kaunas's biggest danger is from set pieces and they have scored from a free kick and a corner and that's the biggest disappointment. "In fairness to Radzius he hit a good free kick but we should have cleared the ball before the second goal went in, "We have to look at ourselves but that was not good enough and it's up to everyone to stick together and get that right as quickly as possible. "The biggest blow for us is that we are out of Europe completely.

  20. by Lindsay Herron KENNY MILLER hopes that his efforts on the field will win over those supporters who have been unsupportive about his return to Rangers. The 28-year-old striker had always insisted that his performances would stand up to scrutiny and when he was applauded off the field against Kaunas on Wednesday he felt it was a big moment. Kenny MillerHe has utterly no regrets about returning to Rangers, although he just wishes that a better result had been achieved against the Lithuanians. He said: "It's been brilliant. I was pleased with the reception I got the other night. There was a bit of booing but overall it was good and I'm over the moon to be here. "We are into the competitive games now and it's time to go to work. "I have always said that once the games start and the fans see the effort I put in then I will win them over and I think Wednesday was a big step in that regard. "The result could have been better, but I felt my performance was OK. I gave everything and I hope the fans appreciate that. "I felt I really wanted to come back here and play my football here and have the best years of my career. "I am here to win medals. It's the same squad that came so close on four fronts last season and with the new additions who have come in we are stronger. "There is the same hunger in the squad. The European run last year has only inspired the lads to do the same, hopefully this year in the Champions League. "We realise we have some work to do but we can complete the job."
  21. Exclusive by Andrew Dickson ERIK BO ANDERSEN believes the way has been paved for Rangers to take a place in the Champions League - but has warned them not to underestimate Aalborg. Bruce Rioch, manager of Aalborg BKThe striker played for the Danish side before leaving them for Ibrox in a £1.5million transfer in February 1996. Although the 37-year-old is now working in politics rather than football, he has continued to monitor the progress AaB have made in recent times. The Jutland club, which appointed Bruce Rioch as its new manager in the summer, won the league by nine points from FC Midtjylland last season. Despite that win, Andersen thinks Walter Smith's Gers will have too much for them if they get past Kaunas and into the third qualifying round of the Champions League. Of course, Bosnian outfit Modrica could yet beat AaB to the final preliminary stage if they can overturn the 5-0 defeat they suffered in midweek this Wednesday. But it is almost certain the Superligaen outfit will progress, giving Rangers a potential chance to take on a team from Denmark competitively for the fourth time. Although Andersen is sure the Scots would then advance to the group stage, he has stressed it won't be easy for them to get so far.Thomas Augustinussen of Aalborg BK Aalborg beat Sampdoria on away goals last season to reach the group phase of the UEFA Cup then drew with Anderlecht and only lost by a single goal to Spurs and Getafe. Andersen said: "This is a good draw for Rangers. They will be the favourites if the teams meet, there is no doubt about that. "If the teams played each other 10 times, there is no way Aalborg would win at least five of those matches. "At the same time, it would be stupid to think this will be a walkover for Rangers because Aalborg have a good side. "Collectively, they are a team that works hard with no real superstars in it and that is their big quality. "On their day, they can compete with a lot of big sides. They were unlucky to lose at Tottenham last season and with a bit of luck, could have had a better result there. "Aalborg also went through on away goals against Sampdoria after drawing 2-2 with them in Italy to get to the group stage. "If they are on form, they are a hard team to beat. I would still expect Rangers to see off Aalborg but they will have to work hard if they are to win overall." Jeppe Curth of Aalborg BKAndersen has picked out forward Jeppe Curth as the man Gers need to be wary of if they find themselves pitched against the Danes. The 24-year-old was the leading scorer in his country's league last season and he is someone Smith will want his men to snuff out. Andersen added: "Curth is a good striker. He is not the tallest but he is a dangerous player. I think he scored 15 or 16 times last season and has shown a lot of potential. "He went abroad to play for Feyenoord when he was quite young but is back in Denmark now and is making good progress. "In midfield, Thomas Augustinussen is one of Aalborg's best players too. He is very tall and creates a lot of things. He holds the team together very well."
  22. Walter has said umpteen times that he is trying to sign a couple of midfielders, maybe he is just timing it correct and waiting to offload some of the players that have not done the business for us first ?,maybe he thinks he can get his targets cheaper by waiting ?
  23. I tend to agree with Calscots' sentiments here,I get fed up reading negative press regarding Rangers and come on here for some refreshing topics, but lately all I seem to read is the same negativity that i'm trying to avoid.Let's wait and see what happens regarding transfers and performances before having a go at WS/Rangers,the season hasn't even started yet !!
  24. No problems for me....................already got mine
