  1. I think a protest wouldn't get off the ground IMO,Boyd split the fans 50-50
  2. Agreed, this has been happening for a long time
  3. Yip, that's why Rangers want the extra above the £3m
  4. Report coming up on SSN shortly
  5. Birmingham City have told BBC Sport that Rangers have accepted an increased offer for striker Kris Boyd. The 25-year-old's agent, Mark Donaghy, is travelling to St Andrews to discuss terms and the player is expected to follow later on Wednesday evening. However, Rangers, who rejected an offer of around £3m for Boyd on Tuesday, say negotiations are ongoing. Boyd, the Scottish Premier League's top scorer, trained as normal on Wednesday morning with the Ibrox squad. On Tuesday, the English Championship outfit insisted that a fee for Boyd had been agreed, only for Rangers to refute those claims. A source at St Andrews told BBC Sport that they expect Boyd to discuss a five-year contract. "I'd be 75% certain that Kris Boyd will be a Birmingham player by the end of the week," added the source. MY SPORT: DEBATE Give your reaction to this story Boyd, who was signed for Rangers by Blues boss Alex McLeish, is the top scorer in the Scottish Premier League with 18 goals. The Championship side are keen to bolster their forward line, with Garry O'Connor sidelined by injury and Quincy Owusu-Abeyie's loan period ending. Cardiff City failed with a £2.5m bid for Boyd in the summer but the player recently revealed that he had considered leaving Ibrox. He was frustrated at being overlooked for key matches last term but his form this season has been impressive. Rangers manager Walter Smith has made no secret of the need to prune his squad but news of a possible sale is sure to surprise supporters of the club. Boyd has scored 91 goals since moving to Ibrox in January 2006 despite struggling to become a regular starter under McLeish's successors Paul Le Guen and Smith. During this campaign he has formed a productive partnership with Kenny Miller, and Smith has made the former Scotland team-mates his automatic first-choice pairing. BBC Scotland football correspondent Chick Young said Kilmarnock would be due 20% of any future Boyd transfer fee. "If Birmingham knocked the fee up to £4m then that would be £800,000 due to Kilmarnock.," he told BBC Radio Scotland's Sportsound. "That would be a great windfall for a club that has been financially struggling." Rangers have already sold Daniel Cousin and Jean-Claude Darcheville this season, while summer signings Andrius Velicka and Kyle Lafferty have failed to make an impact. In October, Boyd, who has scored seven goals in 15 internationals appearances, said he would not play for Scotland again under manager George Burley. The striker was upset after not being included for the World Cup qualifier with Norway, which ended in a 0-0 draw at Hampden.
  6. TBH, I would not like to see him back, i'd rather we gave Aaron/Fleck a chance
  7. £50 per week ?
  8. Don't be silly............don't you know it's all the Rangers fans fault ?
  9. Collection buckets @ Ibrox on match days
  10. That is the current state of our great club !!!!
  11. Ok, but surely it is wrong to prejudge any player untill they get a sustained run in their correct position. He cost a lot of money and was bought as a striker,so all I am saying is now is the time to see what he can do, no point in spending a lot of cash, that we don't have, and not give the guy a chance
  12. Well, how can anyone say no ?,he has not had a run in his favoured position so he should get a run there now and time will tell, how do we know if Aron/Fleck will perform if they don't get a chance ?
  13. Time for Lafferty to step up to the plate ???
  14. Time for the Gers fans to dip into their pockets !!
  15. I'll try my best m8
  16. ANDY WEBSTER was back in Rangers colours today as a host of top team stars were involved in a closed door match with Morton at Murray Park. The former Hearts centre back has had a torrid time with injuries in the past two years and even had more probems during a loan spell at Bristol City in the first half of the season. However, he looked in good shape today as a number of players got some action in a 1-0 win over the Greenock side, who had former Gretna hero and current Real Salt Lake striker Kenny Deuchar in their ranks due to the MLS off-season. Chris Burke - linked today with a move to Cardiff City - scored the only goal of the game. RANGERS: Alexander; Whittaker, Dailly (Wilson 70), Webster, Smith; Burke (Aaron 54), Naismith, Adam, Beasley (Efrem 54); Lafferty (Fleck 44), Velicka
  17. Thanks for reminding Johnny boy , I forgot all about that
  18. One of the biggest surprises in transferland today is the announcement that Rangers will almost certainly sell Kris Boyd to Birmingham by the end of the week. The striker has scored a whopping twenty goals already this season, and has been the Gers top scorer for three seasons running. Understandably, his sale to a Championship side for just Ã?£3.5m has raised more than a few eyebrows in the Scottish capital [er, of football - Ed.]. Captain Barry Ferguson is also said to be on the move for a similar price, although Walter Smith this week denied a move from Newcastle Utd for the player. Owner Sir David Murray has made no secret of his desire to trim down his squad, arguing that the club lost Ã?£10m in projected revenues when they dismally crashed out of the Champions League qualifiers. During an emergency transfer strategy meeting, Smith and Murray reportedly agreed that Allan McGregor, Madjid Bougherra, Pedro Mendes, Steve Davis and Kevin Thomson are ââ?¬Å?untouchableââ?¬Â, but will deal with their estimated Ã?£20m debt by shifting ten players. According to whispers on talkSPORT this morning, however, the entire first team is up for grabs. What exactly is going on north of the border? Is David Murray in a deeper financial mire than he is letting on, or is his fire sale simply a lesson in how not to run a football club? Let us know your opinion on the matter below. http://www.thespoiler.co.uk/index.php/2009/01/07/are-glasgow-rangers-in-big-financial-trouble
  19. Oops,cheers I never seen it
  20. Chelsea's billionaire owner Roman Abramovich has been toppled from the summit of the Football Rich List, published on Wednesday in the new issue of FourFourTwo magazine. Abramovich has lost Ã?£3bn in the recession and is now worth Ã?£7bn. That's less than half the wealth of the new man at the top of the list, Manchester City owner Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed al Nahyan, who is estimated to be worth Ã?£15bn. The people on the sixth Football Rich List, researched and published annually by FourFourTwo, are worth a total of Ã?£61billion. The list includes 11 billionaires and 25 new entries. Although some of the new entries are foreign ââ?¬â?? like Sheikh Mansour and the new No.2 Lakshmi Mittal, who has joined Formula 1 entrepreneurs Bernie Ecclestone and Flavio Briatore in investing in QPR ââ?¬â?? only a third of those on the list are from overseas, with the 64 Brits including three WAGs. The Top 20 on the Football Rich List are: 1. Shekh Mansour bin Zayed al-Nayan (Manchester City) Ã?£15bn
 2. Lakshmi Mittal & family (QPR) Ã?£12.5bn 3. Roman Abramovich (Chelsea) Ã?£7bn
 4. Joe Lewis (Tottenham Hotspur) Ã?£2.5bn
 5. Bernie & Slavica Ecclestone (QPR) Ã?£2.4bn 6. Stanley Kroenke (Arsenal) Ã?£2.245bn
 7. Alisher Usmanov (Arsenal) Ã?£1.5bn
8= Lord Grantchester & The Moores Family (Everton) Ã?£1.2bn
 8= Dermot Desmond (Celtic) Ã?£1.2bn
 10= Lord Ashcroft (Watford) Ã?£1.1bn
10= Malcolm Glazer & family (Manchester United) Ã?£1.1bn
 12. Simon Keswick (Cheltenham Town) Ã?£966m
 13. Trevor Hemmings (Preston North End) Ã?£900m
 14. Mike Ashley (Newcastle United) Ã?£800m
 15. Randy Lerner (Aston Villa) Ã?£750m
 16. Tom Hicks (Liverpool) Ã?£700m 17. The Walker Family (Blackburn Rovers) Ã?£660m 18. Mohammed al-Fayed (Fulham) Ã?£650m
 19. Sir David Murray (Glasgow Rangers) Ã?£600m
 20. Steve Morgan (Wolves) Ã?£400m
The new England manager Fabio Capello is also a new entry worth an estimated Ã?£25m with a Ã?£6m a year contract and a Ã?£10m private art collection and Sir Elton John ââ?¬â?? who has rekindled his interest in Watford ââ?¬â?? is a new entry at No.28 with a Ã?£235m fortune. However, Sir Elton may not have chosen a wise time to get back in the game. The recession may not have hurt football yet, but financial expert Professor Tom Cannon thinks clubs will soon start feeling the pinch. "Season tickets will probably be down by about 10 percent but renewals will be down by at least 15 or 20 percent," said Professor Cannon. "That's where the problems will be as you go down the divisions." More from Professor Cannon on the dangers to football And FourFourTwo Editor-in-Chief Hugh Sleight is similarly worried about football's financial future. ââ?¬Å?Judging by this list, football is the last remaining financial bubble," he said. "The combined wealth of our Top 100 is now Ã?£61 billion, compared with Ã?£41.7 billion last year and Ã?£20.45 billion in the first-ever Football Rich List in 2003.

ââ?¬Å?Weââ?¬â?¢ve also got 25 new entries in the 100, primarily because of the continued rush to invest in British football over the last 12 months.

ââ?¬Å?But the landscape has already changed dramatically because of the recession. As Arsene Wenger rightly pointed out, football will suffer just like any other industry. "So far there seems to be a time lag but as economic conditions continue to bite, clubs and owners will feel the effect and it will then be interesting to see the reactions of these very wealthy men as they see their fortunes disappearing. In 12 monthsââ?¬â?¢ time, this list could look very different indeed.ââ?¬Â

  21. If it is the case that we are in financial dire straits, which obviously we are,and have to sell players to bring in cash, what is the point in wasting more cash on mediocre players that IMO won't improve us on the park ?.If we sell because of financial difficulties then surely it is time to throw in a couple of youths or fringe players,i'm thinking Edu here or Aaron or Fleck, we cannot keep wasting money
  22. 2-1 Spurs now
  23. 1-0 Burnley
  24. '' Aye but you've got to give credit to Celtic for their tremendous consistency ''
  25. I wonder who the next one out the door will be ?
