    IRA Flag

Seemingly the arsehole who was pictured flying the flag with IRA on it is the boyfriend of Gordon Strachan , by all accounts the Daily Retard is running the story on the front page tomorrow
  2. Scottish Football Association chief executive Gordon Smith has welcomed official confirmation from UEFA that Scotland have earned a sixth European place via the Fair Play League. UEFA today published their full table, which puts Scotland in third place behind Norway and Denmark, with all three countries earning an extra spot in Europe. Motherwell lead St Mirren and Hibernian in the SFA's own fair play table and the top team at the end of the season will take part in the first qualifying round of the new Europa League on July 2, with the second leg a week later. The SFA take into account a range of criteria, including yellow and red cards, crowd behaviour, the actions of club officials and match reports by SPL delegates. In a statement, Smith said: 'It is great news, a tremendous reflection on the game in Scotland. 'Winning the extra place in Europe shows what fair play can achieve and sends out a strong message to thousands of boys and girls who play football in Scotland. 'We now have six teams representing Scotland in Europe next season, more than ever before. 'While the recognition is good, it is vitally important that the teams taking part get the right results so we can continue to improve our national co-efficient. We won't be able to announce who is getting the place until the end of the season. 'However, we will keep in touch with all the clubs who are in the running so they can at least put provisional plans in place. 'One thing is for sure, for one Scottish club it is going to be a very short close season.' Falkirk have already qualified for the Europa League after reaching the Homecoming Scottish Cup final, while Hearts, Dundee United and Aberdeen are battling for the two spots available through the Clydesdale Bank Premier League. Celtic and Rangers will take part in the Champions League, with the SPL champions going straight into the group stages. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1180538/Scotland-handed-Fair-Play-boost-SPL-teams-head-Europe.html
  3. Gers Lift Glasgow Cup TWO goals from Kane Hemmings has given Rangers under-17s a stunning 2-1 Old Firm victory in tonight's Glasgow Cup final at Broadwood. Kane Hemmings celebrates his second goal against Celtic in the Glasgow Cup final 2009Celtic were the holders of the famous trophy going in to the game but the Light Blues dominated proceedings on this occasion and thoroughly deserved their win. Hemmings opened the scoring on the half-hour mark; the former Tamworth striker bursting clear of the Celtic defence and prodding the ball home after Hoops keeper Robbie Thomson had made an excellent initial save to deny him. Miodrag Krivoapic's kids responded well to going behind and were to grab an equaliser with four minutes of the first-half remaining. A free-kick from Jordan Lowdon was glanced on by Matt Hughes and James Keatings headed the ball in to the net. Kane Hemmings celebrates his winning goal against Celtic in the Glasgow Cup final 2009 Rangers, however, were back in front two minutes in to the restart and it proved to be a sensational winner. Kal Naismith found Hemmings in the box and the powerful hitman, who was dangerous throughout, produced a thunderous volley which smashed off the underside of the bar before bouncing over the line. The Murray Park starlets celebrated their memorable victory in style after the final whistle and were worthy winners from this entertaining youth clash. Look out for post-match reaction and picture gallery on http://www.rangers.co.uk tomorrow. 7. by Ronnie Cully THE SFA today confirmed they are studying video footage of Glenn Loovens' challenge on Maurice Edu during Saturday's Old Firm game. If the initial investigation into the incident - which occurred just before half time - throws up evidence that the Celtic defender has a case to answer, the matter will be forwarded to the Video Review Panel. But this step would only be taken if referee, Craig Thomson, confirmed it was not an incident which he believed he saw and dealt with at the time. advertisement Edu fell to the ground when Loovens' appeared to make contact with his left knee after the Dutchman had cleared the ball. The Rangers midfielder was forced to leave the field for lengthy treatment before returning to complete the match. Loovens was not one of the six players booked during Saturday's game, and has not been suspended since arriving at Celtic from Cardiff in the summer. But he now faces an anxious wait to discover if he is about to face retrospective action buy the authorities. With Stephen McManus already out for the remaining three league games following surgery last week on his damaged knee, and Darren O'Dea limping out of the game at the weekend, Celtic would be stretched to the limit in the central defensive area if they were now to lose Loovens to suspension. http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/display.var.2507441.0.0.php
  8. By Andrew Dickson MADJID BOUGHERRA has warned Rangers fans not to take a title win for granted after Saturday's win over Celtic. Madjid Bougherra, RangersLight Blues supporters are allowing themselves to dream of a first championship in four years after the 1-0 Old Firm win two days ago. But Algerian defender Bougherra knows there is still plenty of work to be done before that hope becomes reality. Two of Gers' last three games are away from home against Hibernian and Dundee United, while an awkward clash with Aberdeen at Ibrox awaits in between. Celtic, meanwhile, will play twice at Parkhead against the Arabs and Hearts but have to go to play the Hibees in Edinburgh too. Of course, Rangers are the team in the ascendancy after seven consecutive wins took them two points clear at the top of the table. But Bougherra is adamant that could still count for nothing in the end and he has urged his team to keep pushing until they're over the finishing line. Madjid BougherraThe 26-year-old said: "This is one of the big results in the last five games of the season for us and now we are top. "But the league is not finished as we still have three difficult games to play and two of them are away. "We are very happy at this stage but I honestly don't feel we have one hand on the championship trophy yet. "When you have to play away at Dundee United and Hibs, it is difficult. Likewise, we don't know what will happen at home against Aberdeen. "It is the end of the season and people are tired but we have more confidence in our side now because we are first in the table. "I hope we can go on to stay there in the last three games. I know the fans might think the title is ours but I don't think that's the case just now. "When you beat Celtic, it's great because it's a big game and a big derby but there are still other games to play and we need to be very careful." Bougherra reiterated his desire to stay at Ibrox beyond the summer, regardless of how the campaign ends. Madjid BougherraThe Rangers' Player of the Year was misinterpreted in a recent radio interview and it was assumed he would want to leave if the Light Blues came second in the SPL. But he maintains he's keen to stay and still has plenty of goals he'd like to achieve in Glasgow. Bougherra added: "I'm not leaving, it's that simple. It's too early for me to go from here because I need stability in my life. "Everywhere I have been, I have left after six months or a year and I want to be here for longer than that as I'm very comfortable here. "The last time I spoke to the radio, I didn't translate what I was trying to say about having the right mentality very well. "I know if I stay here, I cane become a better player. I feel I have done that under Ally McCoist, Kenny McDowall and the gaffer. I've learned so much from them."
  9. To be fair, the players have showed the required bottle to get us ahead in the title race, now they need to maintain what they have been doing in our unbeaten run, and IMO they do have the bottle
  10. Rangers will remove the 'For Sale' sign from four of their biggest names if they clinch the SPL title and £15million Champions League bounty. In another major boost for Ibrox fans, after Saturday's 1-0 victory over Celtic put their team two points ahead in the championship race with three games left, Sportsmail can reveal that Steven Davis, top scorer Kris Boyd, Pedro Mendes and Madjid Bougherra will be retained if wages are saved elsewhere. Boozegate pair Barry Ferguson and Allan McGregor will still be sold if the right offers come in, but the capture of the league crown is now vital if Walter Smith's key men are to have a future in Govan. Last night, Bougherra fuelled the feelgood factor by vowing to remain at Rangers next season - and is anxious for David Weir to do the same to preserve their defensive partnership. The 26-year-old Algerian was among a number of star players linked with summer sales after Boyd's January transfer to Birmingham collapsed. City boss and ex-Ibrox manager Alex McLeish was an interested spectator on Saturday, but any pursuit of players may be in vain if his cash-strapped former club claim their first title for four years and beat Celtic to the automatic Champions League revenue. 'From what I see of these lads, the determination is there and I am confident they can handle the situation,' he said. 'The period when we were seven points behind is one that comes to mind. With the consistency Celtic had shown, it looked pretty difficult for us. 'The defeat in December was a huge disappointment because I felt that, for 70 minutes, we played the best we had done in any Old Firm game since I returned to the club. Now we must close it out.' Walter Smith Boss Walter Smith will need a star-studded team to compete in the Champions League After Hibs, Aberdeen visit Ibrox on Saturday lunchtime, with the final fixture at Tannadice on Sunday, May 24. 'I've said often enough that other games can have a massive influence,' said Smith. 'Anyone who saw us at Easter Road the other week will know what a difficult game Hibs gave us. Aberdeen have to come here and Tannadice has always been a hard place for us. 'So they are difficult games - and Celtic face them, too. But we are in a good position. We have to show we can handle it.' Meanwhile, Bougherra, the 2.5m signing from Charlton, insisted that staying at Rangers will see him continue to improve under Weir's tuition. The Scotland centre-back turned 39 yesterday, but Bougherra urged him to carry on into his 40s and hopes an extension to the veteran's contract will be agreed. 'I have learned so much playing with David,' he said. 'Everyone on the staff wants him to stay. 'The way he trains and plays shows what a great professional he is. I don't know if I could do the same at 39. I'll probably be back in Algeria with my family at that age, putting my feet up.' http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1180290/Ibrox-stars-sale-Rangers-clinch-SPL-title-Champions-League-spot.html

    Midfield

I thought the midfield played well, especially Davis, Edu did all the dirty work well, Mendes also had a decent game, but I still thought the MOPES had a hold of the midfield and dominated us for long spells
  14. I predict the MOPES to commence bungee jumping without ropes again
  15. THE Rangers Youth Department has benefitted from a cash injection totalling £34,000 thanks to a generous donation from NARSA and a Rising Stars ticket campaign in honour of Garry Lynch. NARSA - the North American Rangers Supporters Association - won the Rising Stars jackpot of £18,000 at the recent SPL game against Motherwell at Ibrox and the organisation generously gave £9,000 to the Rangers Youth Department through the purchase of Rising Stars tickets. Last month the family and friends of Rangers fanatic Garry Lynch helped raise £25,000 for the Rangers Youth Department after calling on fans to buy Rising Stars tickets in his memory. NARSA cheque presentaionGarry sadly passed away in February aged just 52 and his family - wife Elaine, son Garry and daughter Angela - launched a campaign to sell Rising Stars tickets in his honour. Following the phenomenal sales total of 45,000 tickets, the Rising Stars jackpot reached £18,000 - a record payout for any UK football club for a half-time draw - and NARSA scooped the winning ticket. American midfielder Mo Edu met Garry Lynch Jr. at Murray Park yesterday to accept the NARSA cheque for £9,000, which was presented by Billy Ferguson and Bobby Smith. The Club's Youth Department has now benefited to the tune of £34,000 in the last few weeks. Rangers Youth Academy Director Jim Sinclair commented: "Garry Lynch was a passionate and committed Rangers fan who was also regular at our Reserve and Youth Team matches. "His family has created a lasting legacy in his honour with the £25,000 donation to the Club's Youth Department and I can't thank them - and the fans who bought tickets in Garry's memory - enough for their generosity. "NARSA's donation of £9,000 is also greatly appreciated and was a terrific gesture from the supporters. "On behalf of everyone at the Club, I thank them for their kindness."

  18. SUPPORTERS travelling to the Rangers v Celtic match at Ibrox tomorrow are asked to take note of the following information. Buses must be parked in the area set aside for them in the Govan Road/Whitefield Road area and not indiscriminately elsewhere.
  19. Mmmmmmmmmm, just looked on a couple of Arsenal forums, they are none to happy Rangers are coming down for a visit !!, as if the Rangers fans are going to get boozed up and wreck the place, must be a lot of MOPES in disguise
  20. RANGERS under-19s have lost their final SPL game of the season against Inverness Caley Thistle. Two goals in the first five minutes of the game from Caley midfielder Stuart Leslie secured the win and gave the home side a bit of revenge after the 6-2 thumping they suffered at Ibrox in the semi-final of the SFA Youth Cup.
  21. I thought this was a MOPE thing

  23. By Andrew Dickson DAVID WEIR insists he'll put talk of extending his stay at Rangers to one side to focus on tomorrow's derby with Celtic. The veteran defender - signed initially as a stop-gap in January 2007 - should make his 120th appearance for the club in this weekend's derby. David WeirFormer Light Blues skipper Richard Gough has urged Weir to stay with Gers for as long as he can because he'll miss playing when he eventually gives up. But while the former Everton stopper is flattered by such comments, he's adamant he'll only look to the future in the summer and the title race is his sole concern just now. Weir, who will turn 39 on Sunday, said: "It was nice of Richard to say those things but I've got to be asked to stay here first. "I'll keep playing as long as I can, there's no doubt about that. I think I'm sensible enough to realise that. "But the priority for me just now is to try to get to the end of the season and to try to be successful. That's the most important thing. "Of course, I'd think about staying at Rangers if I was asked but I don't want to spend any time doing that just now. "We've got more than enough on our plate at the moment and there are more important issues than that to consider. The league deserves all of our attentions." David Weir, RangersWeir maintains tomorrow's game is not a title decider, despite others claiming a win for either side could end the championship as a contest. After this weekend, Rangers still have to play Hibs, Aberdeen and Dundee United while Celtic face the Arabs, Hibees and Hearts. As both clubs prepare for difficult finishing schedules, Weir knows the other teams in the top half of the SPL will be keen to play a part in where the title ends up. He added: "I think both teams would say they've got three tough games after this one and this season there have been points dropped by each side. "I'm sure Celtic would agree that regardless of whether it's them or us that wins this weekend, there's nothing guaranteed after that."
  24. RANGERS under-19s will be looking to finish the SPL season in style when they take on Inverness Caley Thistle in Dingwall this afternoon. The Murray Park kids will still be feeling the disappointment of losing out in the league and SFA Youth Cup to Hibs but will be out to get three points against the Highland Jags. Gregg WyldeTommy Wilson will be taking the team in Billy Kirkwood's absence and is looking for the team to approach the game in a professional manner. He said: "At Rangers we always expect all the players to maintain a high standard and the under-19s know that. "Hibs, of course, are already Champions but we still want to finish the season in the right way. "What our boys need to remember is that if they play well and stand-out there is always a chance that they could push their way on to the bench for the first-team in the next month. "We have seen Gregg Wylde (above) do that recently along with others. "So there is always a massive incentive for our players to give their all and that is what we want to see against Inverness."
  25. HA!HA!, you're more than welcome to join us mate..........JUST NOT IN MY SEAT :box:
