  1. The guy has only been here for a wee while, he has probably been watching Skippy & knackeredmotor and though it was how things are done in Scotland if you want to win anything
  2. GARY CALDWELL branded Hibsââ?¬â?¢ tactics negative ââ?¬â? and accused them of not wanting to give Celtic a game. The Parkhead stopper hit out at the way Mixu Paatelainen set up his side after a frustrating stalemate. Caldwell rapped: ââ?¬Å?We just couldnââ?¬â?¢t score, we did everything but. We played against a team that sat in and frustrated us and who didnââ?¬â?¢t want to come out, didnââ?¬â?¢t want to play the game. ââ?¬Å?Itââ?¬â?¢s up to them how they play but it is not very entertaining for the fans or for us. ââ?¬Å?We have to try and break that down and I thought we were very brave with our approach. ââ?¬Å?We passed the ball, we tried to get round the back of them but they just sat deep and that frustrated us. ââ?¬Å?It would have been very easy for us to have started lumping it but we tried to create. ââ?¬Å?We had half-chances which you have got to take.ââ?¬Â Now the draw has left Celts praying a see-saw SPL title battle swings back their way on the final day. He sighed: ââ?¬Å?We just have to hope it switches back the other way on Sunday. ââ?¬Å?There is still a long way to go. As you can see from the results it is up and down. We have to again go out and do our job. ââ?¬Å?I donââ?¬â?¢t think either of the Old Firm have won at Tannadice all season so if Rangers are going to win it then they are going to have to play well to do so. ââ?¬Å?We just have to win. We have to focus on beating Hearts at home and that is all we will be concentrating on. If we do that then you never know. ââ?¬Å?They are all difficult games at this stage of the season. The teams in the top six have proved to be very difficult opposition this year and have been hard to beat. So we have a really tough job on our hands. ââ?¬Å?We have to concentrate on that. If we can then weââ?¬â?¢ll come in and then hope results have gone our way. ââ?¬Å?For us it is just about winning a game. We have to make sure we prepare the right way. ââ?¬Å?And if we play the way we did here we canââ?¬â?¢t miss as many chances again. ââ?¬Å?We have to keep believing that it is our title and we have to make sure we do our job.ââ?¬Â Caldwell denied tension had played a part in Celticââ?¬â?¢s failure to take all three points. Advertisement He said: ââ?¬Å?I donââ?¬â?¢t think we looked tense, we passed the ball well from back to middle and controlled the whole game. ââ?¬Å?I canââ?¬â?¢t remember a spell at all when they were in it, even when we started pushing men forward. ââ?¬Å?They had the odd breakaway but nothing much to worry us. ââ?¬Å?Just getting a goal, getting our noses in front, was the problem. If we had done that then I think we would have went on to win comfortably.ââ?¬Â But Hibs keeper Yves Ma- Kalambay hit back at Caldwellââ?¬â?¢s claims and said Celtic simply werenââ?¬â?¢t good enough to break the Easter Road side down. He said: ââ?¬Å?We understand that Celtic are under pressure and they are frustrated but look, at the end of the day we didnââ?¬â?¢t concede and we kept a clean sheet. ââ?¬Å?Whatever tactics the manager put in place obviously worked. ââ?¬Å?Celtic are a big team, they shouldnââ?¬â?¢t try to talk about other peopleââ?¬â?¢s formations ââ?¬â? they should be able to break ANY formation with the squad they have. ââ?¬Å?If he came in and said he was extremely disappointed, well maybe they should have tried to do better to score. ââ?¬Å?We played to our strengths with what we had and we had chances, we could have scored. ââ?¬Å?The main thing for me as a goalkeeper is that we kept a clean sheet so for me the tactics on the day were spot on.ââ?¬Â Ma-Kalambay found himself under siege in the second half as a string of high balls were pumped into his area. But the Belgian revealed the only time he lost his composure was when he saw opposite number Artur Boruc head up for a corner in injury time. He said: ââ?¬Å?I smiled when I saw that, I saw him charge at me and I almost lost my focus for a bit!ââ?¬Â Ma-Kalambay believes Celts can get the twist they are looking for and clinch a fourth consecutive title this weekend. He said: ââ?¬Å?Somehow I still think Celtic can do it. ââ?¬Å?They are both great sides but I have this weird feeling Celtic can come up with something at the last minute ââ?¬â? they always do.ââ?¬Â http://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/scotsol/homepage/sport/spl/article2433885.ece

  10. WALTER SMITH is fuming after finding out why Madjid Bougherra was sent off after today's 2-1 victory over Aberdeen at Ibrox. Linesman Graham Chambers informed the Gers gaffer that he felt the Algerian deliberately kicked Dons' keeper Jamie Langfield in the head after the pair collided going for a 50/50 challenge. Smith insists the explanation was 'incredible' and was unsure if the club could appeal the decision. Madjid Bougherra and Jamie LangfieldHe said: "To be honest I don't know if we can do that. "There was a couple of things in the media during the week that suggests they need to get a review panel together before looking at sending offs. "According to our lads nothing will happen until next season which is obviously not much good to anybody. "But whatever happens it was an incredible sending off. "I have seen both red cards and first of all I have to say I was disappointed with my own player's reaction to Aberdeen's. "I didn't think there was any great contact at all and I will need to have words with Kyle. "But the second sending off is incredible. "The linesman has stated to me that the player deliberately kicked the goalkeeper in the head which I find absolutely incredible. "It meant we lost a player for the majority of the game for a circumstance that was not the case." Bougherra's sending off is the second controverial decision against Rangers in the space of four days after Nacho Novo's goal against Hibs was disallowed when it appeared to cross the line.
  11. As I said, pathetic and funny, FECKIN MOPES
  12. Published: Today rigTeaserImage FORMER Rangers chief Donald Findlay yesterday told appeal judges that offensive terrace chant The Famine Song is NOT racist. Instead, the QC insisted the controversial Gers anthem was purely “political” — and part of the usual banter between two sets of football fans. Mr Findlay was speaking as he challenged supporter William Walls’ conviction for belting out the sectarian ditty and a series of hate-filled slogans at an SPL match against Kilmarnock. But the defence lawyer claimed offending people is not a crime, adding: “This is a country noted for its right to free speech.” Walls, 20, of Glasgow, has gone to the Justiciary Appeal Court in Edinburgh in a bid to overturn his conviction for racially and religiously aggravated breach of the peace. He was banned from all matches for two years after repeatedly yelling “****** b*******” and “f*** the Pope”. Abuse The yob was also heard singing the chorus, “The Famine is over, why don’t you go home” — a reference to the Irish potato famine which killed millions. Crucially, he became the first person found guilty of sectarian crimes for singing the line. But yesterday Mr Findlay said: “There is nothing at all that could in any way be said to be racist or racially motivated about those words. “It is in my submission an expression of political opinion. This is not about whether the political element is logical, rational or justified. That is neither here nor there.” The QC insisted there was no evidence anyone in the Rugby Park crowd had been upset by Walls’ singing last November. Findlay told the appeal judges a football match was “an organised breach of the peace”. He said for many supporters “an exchange of pleasantries in the form of abuse is part and parcel of going to the game”. Advertisement Walls was hit with a football banning order and 18 months’ probation at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last November. Yesterday senior appeal judge, Lord Carloway, said: “We will issue a decision as soon as possible, after the Cup Final.” Mr Findlay has himself been at the centre of sectarian rows. Two years ago he faced a Faculty of Advocates disciplinary hearing over a gag about the Pope at a Gers supporters’ bash. He quit as Ibrox vice-chairman in 1999 after he was caught on video singing The Sash. http://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/scot...cle2431963.ece Edit/Delete Message

  14. A major point when all the criticism is aimed at our midfielders regarding '' get the ball forward ''.
  15. Of course it would help Mendes or Ferguson if they actually had a target to make the forward pass, ie width, as it is there is no such option therefore the only pass that can be made is sideways or backwards
  16. If he does play, I do think he will have a point to prove and will be hungry, he certainly won't let Rangers down IMO
  17. Rangers v Aberdeen Venue: Ibrox Date: Saturday 16 May Kick-off: 1230 BST Coverage: BBC Radio Scotland & BBC Sport website. Rangers v Aberdeen Rangers striker Kenny Miller has recovered from a hamstring injury and fit-again midfielder Barry Ferguson also returns to the squad. Defender Sasa Papac should also feature after weeks on the sidelines but forward Andrius Velicka is ill. Aberdeen midfielder Mark Kerr returns from suspension. But Jamie Smith, Andrew Considine, Zander Diamond, Darren Mackie, Derek Young and Tommy Wright are all out injured and Peter Pawlett is doubtful. Rangers manager Walter Smith: "Aberdeen have been difficult opponents for us over the period of time that I've been back. "That will be a hard enough game for us so we'll just have to approach it in the manner that we can take advantage of the fact we're at home and go and try to win the game. "At Rangers and Celtic, the pressure is on and you've got to win whether you play on a Saturday or a Sunday. That's the bottom line. "I don't think all this stuff about pressure being put on you by the one who has played on the Saturday is there. "You've got to win the game anyway." Aberdeen manager Jimmy Calderwood: "We are under no illusions about how difficult it is going to be. We have played well there in recent years and, if we had taken our chances, we could have come away with a victory. "Eighteen years is a long time for Aberdeen. It is the only ground that I have not won at since I came here and, having been born only a mile away from the stadium, it would be nice to get that monkey off my back. "I don't think Hearts and Dundee United would be too happy if we won, but we just have to look after ourselves. "If we get a draw and Hearts and Dundee United draw, or Hearts win, then that may be a good point for us." 19. CELTIC Football Club today announced that it is to mark National Famine Memorial Day on May 17, 2009. The day has been earmarked by the Irish Government to commemorate and honour the 1.5million people who either perished or emigrated from Ireland during the Great Famine from 1845 to 1851. As a mark of respect, the Celtic team will wear the clubââ?¬â?¢s Celtic Cross on their shirts when they plays Hibernian on Sunday. The Cross, representing a bridge between Scottish and Irish cultures, is the symbol of the clubââ?¬â?¢s charitable arm, established to continue the work initiated by the clubââ?¬â?¢s founder Brother Walfrid, an Irish Marist Brother. Celtic Chairman John Reid said: ââ?¬Å?Given Celticââ?¬â?¢s proud Irish heritage, this club is inextricably linked to the Great Famine and the subsequent immigration from Ireland. ââ?¬Å?Celtic Football Club, therefore, is proud to be marking National Famine Memorial Day in this manner as we pay our respects to all those affected by the Great Hunger, one of the most tragic chapters in modern world history. ââ?¬Å?The Irish Famine resulted in death, disease and displacement of people on an unimaginable scale, with the West of Scotland becoming a principal point of refuge. ââ?¬Å?The Famine is a lesson from history which should never be forgotten, but from the despair and death of famine arose new hope, new life and a new future. Part of that came in the shape of Celtic Football Club. ââ?¬Å?The desperate people who fled Ireland and their offspring born in Scotland, became the collective parents of Celtic Football Club. ââ?¬Å?The clubââ?¬â?¢s main inspiration, Brother Walfrid and Michael Davitt, the clubââ?¬â?¢s first patron, were both young children during the Famine in Ireland. ââ?¬Å?Celtic is a Scottish club with proud Irish roots, an organisation which represents a fusion of cultures between both countries. We are a club open to all and while we celebrate our traditions, it is important that we also celebrate our diversity. ââ?¬Å?During the past 120 years, Celtic has developed into a world-class football organisation which strives for excellence and success on and off the field. ââ?¬Å?However, while we always aim to build and grow, there will be one constant - we will always remain much more than a football club and we will always remember our proud heritage.ââ?¬Â

  21. KENNY MILLER has declared himself fit to face Aberdeen in tomorrow's massive SPL showdown at Ibrox. Kenny Miller, Rangers celebrates his second goalThe striker missed Wednesday night's 1-1 draw with Hibs at Easter Road due to a hamstring problem but is ready to return for the club's penultimate game of the season. With a win imperative for Rangers Walter Smith will be delighted to have Miller back in his plans and the Scotland star is desperate to get on the scoresheet and erase the disappointment of missing his side's midweek trip to Edinburgh. He said: "It was very frustrating not to be involved against Hibs. "The game against Celtic last weekend was my first start for a while but my hamstring flared up again after that. "It took a few days for it to settle down but I am fit now and will train with the lads today. "Hopefully I can be in the starting eleven against the Dons." Miller is expecting a tough 90 minutes against Jimmy Calderwood's men but hopes Rangers can get off to a flyer in their last home fixture. He said: "We have to win the game first and foremost because you never know what could happen at Easter Road on Sunday. "If we can go out and get an early goal that will help to settle any early nerves, that has to be our aim. "But Aberdeen are a good team as we have seen when we faced them earlier this season.Kenny Miller battles with Shunsuke Nakamura "We will give them respect but if we play the way we can I am always confident we can get three points." With Celtic currently on top of the SPL on goal difference Rangers will look to attack from the first whistle on Saturday and Miller insists they have the firepower to shoot down the Dons. He said: "In the first-half on Wednesday we did not really get started but Kyle and Nacho came on and did very well. "Nacho got the goal big while Laff played on the left and made a difference. "So the manager has options in the forward areas and there is no doubt we have the players that can create and score goals." Andrius Velicka is the only striker that will not feature this weekend due to an illness but Sasa Papac should join Miller in the squad having recovered from a knee injury.
  22. Hope so mate, we need to trounce them
  23. Think the ref will be getting pelters tomorrow, every decision has to go our way !!!
  24. Tash Targets Two By Andrew Dickson SLAYER of Spartans Natasha Anderson has Glasgow City in her sights as Rangers Ladies prepare for their first Unite Scottish Cup final this weekend. Drew Todd's team will meet their Premier Division opponents at Stirling Albion's Forthbank Stadium on Sunday afternoon as they go for a glorious double. Natasha Anderson celebrates scoring a goalIn their debut season, things could hardly have gone any better for the Light Blues as they've yet to taste defeat in a competitive game. Having won each of their first 16 First Division fixtures, they became champions when they won 4-2 at closest challengers Inverness with two matches to spare 10 days ago. Now, having won promotion to the top flight, their focus has turned to knockout success against the side which represented Scotland in European competition this season. Rangers' route to the final has been packed with excitement, with 42 goals scored in the five tournament matches they've been involved in up to now. After seeing off Boroughmuir Thistle B 7-0 then beating Dee Vale 11-0 in the opening two rounds, things got a lot tougher for the Murray Park squad. Premier League outfit Raith Rovers stood in the way of Todd's side in round three but they were beaten 5-2 after extra-time. A 4-2 win at Glasgow City Girls in the last eight then led to a semi-final clash with Spartans, one of the teams in contention to win this term's national championship. In a thrilling encounter at Toryglen Football Centre, Rangers trailed three times against their more experienced opponents. Natasha Anderson in action against CelticBut Anderson played a big part in their revival and scored four goals - including the winner - to swing the match in the underdogs' favour as they edged it 6-5 in 120 minutes. The 18-year-old has been a key player for coach Todd over the last few months, striking in other important matches such as the 2-0 Old Firm win over Celtic last August. Gers' success hasn't surprised the teenager too much but while even she didn't expect to be on the verge of a double, Anderson sees no reason why her team can't now get it. "It has been a really good season for us," the winger said. "We had a feeling we'd do quite well in the league but we didn't think we'd win every game so far. "Likewise, we didn't think we would get so far in the cup and everything has been perfect. "We've only been together as a group for nine months and from that point of view, we've definitely exceeded what we thought we could do. "Now we're looking to make our campaign even better and we feel we could shock Glasgow. "They're a great team with plenty of experience and a few Scotland internationalists but you never know what could happen on the day. Rangers Ladies captain Jayne Somerville, left, and Natasha Anderson"Nobody expected us to beat Spartans in the last round but we did. That was a great day and there was a lot of tension but we handled it well. "It's up to us to try to pull off a shock again this weekend so we'll pull together and fight for each other as we try to do that. "We are the underdogs and Glasgow are clear favourites but we'll take everything as it comes." Admission to this Sunday's game costs just £4 for adults and £2 for children and concessions. Families of four (two adults and two children) can also gain entry for £10 and kick-off is at 2.15pm. If you are interested in becoming involved with either Rangers Ladies or the under-17 side, contact the Football in the Community department at Ibrox on 0141 580 8819. Alternatively, if you wish to take part in the girls-only training sessions at Murray Park every Sunday from 5.15pm to 6.45pm, call 0871 702 1972 to book.
  25. If we do lose the league, which is looking more likely, I won't be looking back to this incident, I'll be looking back at the stupid points we've dropped St Midden, ICT ect.
