  9. Walter Smith deserves another season at the very least, apart from a lot of crazy team selections I just can't think of anybody that could come in and do a better job, I can say I have never been one of the fans to try and oust him,I have too much respect for him, we could do a lot worse !!
  10. I still have my doubts if he will be here next season, after all I still believe any of these players are up for sale given the right offer
  11. When you see how Barry Ferguson & Shagger celebrated that win today just makes me want to forgive them for what they have done.............maybe I'm just drunk & a bit emotional but I think they deserve to win the title as much as any player,IMO
  12. Every player was immense IMO, a real team effort, they were all superb but I want to give a special mention to Edu, the guy was absolutely outstanding today, what a player we have in him, he WILL become a Rangers great..............if he stays with us long enough
  13. WALTER SMITH paid tribute to his Rangers players after their convincing 3-0 victory over Dundee United won them the SPL title. The Light Blues found themselves seven points behind Old Firm rivals Celtic at the turn of the year and at that point it seemed the championship was gone. Nacho Novo and Sasa Papac celebrate in styleBut eight wins in their last nine games meant Gers took the trophy by four points and it was a thoroughly deserved triumph. Smith said: "It's a fantastic feeling. We gave a fantastic performance to win the league - the boys were tremendous throughout. "We set about our game in the right fashion and we were thrilled to get the result in the end. "I don't think our goals could have come at better times for us. We took an early lead then got our second right before half time and that was a crucial point. "We got the third when Dundee United were trying to push us back and that allowed us to kill the game off. "We didn't need to say too much to motivate the players - I'm a great believer that they do that themselves and so it proved. "We've had an awkward season in terms of the decisions that had to be made but we're delighted to have come out on top. "The players have shown real character at times when injuries and suspensions took their toll and this is great for everyone we've called upon. Pedro Mendes scores Rangers second goal against Dundee United "Everyone has done a fantastic job for the team and when you consider everything we've achieved, it has been a great season. "We've got to the League Cup final, won the championship and we've got the Scottish Cup final next week. The boys deserve a lot of credit for that." Gers' title win means they have avoided the treacherous qualifying rounds of the Champions League and secured the best part of £15million for direct entry instead. Smith added: "Automatic qualification for the Champions League is a massive thing. "It's important, not only financially, but for the management, players, fans and everyone at the Club to be involved at this level. "We are absolutely thrilled about that but we have the Scottish Cup final to look ahead to next so after a wee bit of celebrating tonight we will start to focus on that one! "

  25. DAVIE WEIR believes that Rangers thoroughly deserved to get their hands on the SPL trophy at Tannadice and praised his teammates for proving the doubters wrong. The 39-year-old was again outstanding in the comprehensive 3-0 victory over Dundee United and insists his side have shown great character to come out on top. Pedro Mendes scores Rangers' second goal against Dundee United at TannadiceHe said: "It's an unbelievable achievement but we were the best team this season, no matter what anyone says we were the best. "We now want to go out and do the double, if we can do that it will be a fantastic season for the club. "The performance from the boys today was outstanding and it showed the determination we have. "For us to go out there and produce arguably our best display of the season is terrific and we are all thrilled. "The goals we scored were quality and from the first whistle I think we showed a desire to win the game. "We always believed we could do it." Davie could not hide his pride at lifting the SPL trophy as Gers captain and was quick to ask Barry Ferguson to join him in hoisting aloft the silverware.Kyle Lafferty scores against Dundee United at Tannadice He said: "I think it was only fair. Barry has been the captain for the majority of the season so it was only right that we both stepped up to lift it. "I thought it was right and the gaffer felt the same way so I was more than happy for him to share that moment with me." Weir has enjoyed another fantastic season in a Light Blue jersey and refused to discuss his future after the final whistle. He did, however, allow himself to dream about appearing the Champions League once again and realises how important being in Europe's premier tournament is for Rangers. He said: "It's a fantastic thing for a club of this stature to be in the Champions League. "Knowing we have six games in the Champions League next season is a massive bonus. "Winning the league was crucial but there is no getting away from the fact that coming out that having being in Europe's top tournament without having to qualify is brilliant."
