Just wondering how many guys on here hate the English, and if you do why??. For me I don't hate the English but like most Scottish fans I hate listening to the summarisers/media banging on about them being one of the favourites for the WC,also the arrogant way they talk about other teams especially the wee teams and disrespecting them. Football aside I hear a lot of Scottish people saying they hate the English!!! which I don't understand. I work with a lot of English guys and they think the majority of Scots hate them, yet if Scotland get a good result they all say well done and always seem to want Scotland to do well. Thoughts.

Agreed Zappa. He is one young player with undoubted talent, hopefully this season he finally arrives in the Rangers 1st team
-
Aye. It's a big season for the lad,we all know he has the talent and he has not reached his potential, this season he could do just that and that will give us all a wee lift if he succeeds.

John Fleck has revealed he has started back pre-season training weeks ahead of schedule in a bid to make a major impact at Rangers this season. The 18-year-old has been back at a deserted Murray Park this summer, working on his own to help improve his fitness levels ahead of the new campaign. Walter Smithââ?¬â?¢s players arenââ?¬â?¢t expected back for pre-season training until July 5 ahead of their trip to Australia and Fleck is so determined to hit the ground running that he is doing rigorous workouts on his own. Fleck said: ââ?¬Å?Iââ?¬â?¢ve been back up to Murray Park between a couple of breaks to work on my fitness levels and hopefully get myself ahead of the game. ââ?¬Å?I want to give myself as good a chance as possible to impress and hopefully force my way into the team more this season. ââ?¬Å?I have been doing some running around the complex as well as some gym work. ââ?¬Å?There isnââ?¬â?¢t anyone around the place as most people are away on holiday and doing different things. ââ?¬Å?You obviously have to have a rest and Iââ?¬â?¢ll have another short break now before getting stuck back into it again. ââ?¬Å?Iââ?¬â?¢m sure most of the lads will be doing bits and pieces on their own anyway and youââ?¬â?¢ve got to look after yourself during the summer. ââ?¬Å?We are always given instructions and things we can do to take away with us at the end of the season. ââ?¬Å?But the more fitness work I can get under my belt this summer, the better condition I will be in for the start of pre-season training. ââ?¬Å?I know itââ?¬â?¢s a big season for me and I want to give myself the best possible chance of doing well. ââ?¬Å?Iââ?¬â?¢ve now had a couple of seasons under my belt in the first-team and Iââ?¬â?¢ve obviously made a number of appearances and played in some big matches, including the Old Firm, so Iââ?¬â?¢ve now got a bit of experience behind me. ââ?¬Å?But I want to be as successful as possible and put myself as strong a position as I possibly can for the beginning of the season.ââ?¬Â Like every young player, Fleck is desperate to make an impact and isnââ?¬â?¢t content to simply make up the numbers within the Rangers squad. It is that attitude and determination, combined with natural ability, that has made his manager Walter Smith consistently refer to him as a huge talent and someone he believes will go on to become a top player for the Light Blues. Although he has been in and around the first-team for a couple of years now, Fleck is still awaiting the opportunity to become a regular but the youngster appreciates it is easier said than done when you are coming through the ranks as a major club. ââ?¬Å?I think people have to try and appreciate how difficult it is for a young player to break into the first-team at Rangers and stay in the team every week,ââ?¬Â explained Fleck. ââ?¬Å?The manager has always said, in regard to both myself and Danny Wilson, that there would be times when weââ?¬â?¢d be left out the team as he felt it would be in our best interests and that is what has happened. ââ?¬Å?There is a massive pressure and expectation on the team to win every single game and win trophies and it was fantastic that we managed to win the SPL title and the League Cup last term. ââ?¬Å?To be involved in that is a truly wonderful experience for the likes of myself. ââ?¬Å?Like any player, I want to play as often as possible and Iââ?¬â?¢m just looking forward to getting back into pre-season training, getting as fit as possible and then hopefully do my talking on the park and help the team build on last seasonââ?¬â?¢s success.ââ?¬Â The good news for Rangers is that Fleck has already committed his long-term future to the club having penned a new three-year deal towards the end of last term and he is thrilled at having his future resolved. He said: ââ?¬Å?I was delighted to get everything sorted out in regard to my contract as it allows me to focus fully on my football. ââ?¬Å?Talks were ongoing for quite some time, which is often the case, and there was some speculation at the time that I was perhaps looking to move on ââ?¬â?? nothing could have been further from the truth. ââ?¬Å?It was always my intention to sign a new deal with Rangers.ââ?¬Â http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/sport/editor-s-picks/john-fleck-s-summer-plan-to-get-him-ahead-of-the-game-for-rangers-1.1036750

I'm not too greedy for Rangers, insists target Jose Goncalves RANGERS target Jose Goncalves has angrily denied pricing himself out of a Bosman move to Ibrox. The Portuguese defender is livid at reports he has demanded £29,000 a week from Rangers, around £18,000 after tax. Goncalves, 24, is in the Far East on holiday, but insists he is not holding the cash-strapped SPL champs to ransom. A friend said: "It's ridiculous to suggest Jose is looking for this type of money, crazy. "He knows his worth but also understands the financial position of Rangers at this moment of time. The figures mentioned are well wide of the mark." The advisors of the former Hearts defender held talks with Rangers officials late last week and will continue in the days ahead. Goncalves will jet back from his holiday base to his home in Switzerland next week and is preparing to fly straight on to Glasgow if a deal can be struck. The ex-FC Thun fullback has attracted interest from clubs throughout the continent and also England but has made no secret of how much he enjoys life in Scotland. He is also rated highly by Portugal boss Carlos Queiroz and his versatility on the left side of defence is seen as an asset by Rangers, with Danny Wilson tipped to quit the club before the new season to sign for Liverpool. Meanwhile, Kirk Broadfoot has penned a new, three-year deal to stay with Rangers . And Record Sport, who broke the story, understand the cash-strapped Ibrox club have held on to the defender by paying better wages than newly-promoted Blackpool could afford. The Lancashire club wanted to have Broadfoot when they debut in the Premier League next season. But Rangers boss Walter Smith could be faced with the prospect of losing teenage starlet Wilson and Algeria's World Cup hero Madjid Bougherra during the close season. Broadfoot went to Murray Park last night and signed the deal that keeps him at the club he supports. Rangers have fixed him up on the kind of money that suggests he's there to be a first-team player. http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/football/spl/2010/06/22/i-m-not-too-greedy-for-rangers-insists-target-jose-goncalves-86908-22350547/

Rangers fans are "bracing themselves for the worst" after Madjid Bougherra's star showing against England at the World Cup. That is the view of John Macmillan, secretary of the Rangers Supporters Clubs, after the defender played a key role in Algeria's goalless draw against Fabio Capello's men on Friday. Speculation has surrounded Bougherra's future for months and he now appears to have boosted his chances of sealing a move away from Ibrox this summer, according to the fans' representative. "He's a good player and whether we will be able to hold on to him is another matter now," admitted Macmillan. "If Algeria go any further in the World Cup, it will be a big stage for him. I think he will be a very difficult one to hold on to. "We are probably bracing ourselves for the worst and an offer will come for him to go to the Premiership or, certainly, one of the top Championship clubs." Reports on Sunday linked Bougherra with a £6million move to Arsenal as a result of his efforts in South Africa so far. Macmillan is not sure the Algerian is ready for a switch to the Gunners but believes a mid-table side in England's top-flight is a more realistic option. He said: "He's an excellent player but I couldn't see him at Manchester United or Chelsea, simply because they have an abundance of stars there, not that Arsenal haven't. "I would think it's more likely he would go to one of the lesser sides in the Premiership. "However, I don't know if he could fulfil any real ambition by going to teams, with all due respect, like Wigan or Bolton or other clubs of that ilk. "It's one of the top leagues in the world so, regardless of who you are playing for, you are in among some of the best players in the world." Mcmillan does believes the Scottish champions should hold out for a fee in the region of the reported £6million for their prized-asset. He said: "In this day and age, Bougherra is worth that. In today's climate, that's a reasonable asking price." Teenage centre-half Danny Wilson has been linked with Liverpool after impressing in his debut season for the senior team, meaning Rangers fans could be facing a double blow this summer. Macmillan said: "If we lose both Bougherra and Wilson, it would be a major blow, albeit it would be softened a bit by Andy Webster coming back. "He looks a much better player now (after his loan spell at Dundee United) and hopefully we will see the best of him next season. "David Weir can't be expected to continue forever and both Bougherra and Wilson would be lovely assets to have on your books." http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/leagues/scottishpremier/rangers/7841888/Rangers-fans-braced-for-Madjid-Bougherra-departure-after-Algeria-display.html

Aye, I'm just not wanting to lose Bougherra on the cheap and the £4m that is being quoted is far too cheap,IMO, so I'll stick with what posted earlier Craig, I'd rather keep Bougherra until his contract runs out than sell him for £4m:)
-
True, but we will have a better chance to qualify if we can keep our best players
-
Well we have managed to win the SPL the last 2 years without buying anybody, so until we actually know who is still going to be here then a couple of signings to replace who we know have already left is not going to make us weaker. If we can mange to bring in a couple of decent players then I can't see how we won't be challenging for the title again??. As for finishing third!!!, have you been drinking?
-
Agreed. I believe our current squad is just about capable enough to retain our title, but I think we need a couple of signings to strengthen the squad.
-
At the end of the day,it matters not what we,fans, think but what managers of watching clubs think. Now regardless of what we think is an average team Engurland is irrelevant to most, what matters is that Bougherra was a stick out against them and proved that he is at least as good as the so called super stars of Engurland and the EPL so there is no reason to accept a paltry fee for him, if other teams want him then they pay what Rangers FC want for him, if they don't want to pay the asking price then GTF and we will keep him for another 2 seasons and hopefully by winning the league we will benefit more than selling him for £4m.
-
DUTD want £3m for Goodwillie?, BHEAST want £12m for a wee crot sand dancer?. Me thinks Bougherra is worth more than these two
-
I'd rather keep him until his contract runs out than sell him for £4m

MADJID BOUGHERRA admits he is flattered by reports linking him with Arsenal. Gunners manager Arsene Wenger revealed he is a fan of the Algerian centre-back, who faced England last night. And that led to stories he could be set to make a £4million swoop. Rangers ace Bougherra said: "Wenger found a few kinds words for me. It's given me a big boost." After Bougherras' performance against '' the potential WC winners '' I can see a wee bit of a bidding war starting, especially if he puts in another good performance, this is where Rangers Fc will be tested on how much we should be willing to accept. He still has 2 years left on his contract, he says he is happy at Rangers, but also he wants to play in the EPL, is it true that he refused to sign a 2 year contract extension and because of this WS has sanctioned his sale ?. How much should we expect to get, if/when he is sold?.
-
I do believe in managers being able to get the best out of certain players and this could be the reason plus moving to a big club and having to perform can also make you up your game, for instance I believe the improvement in Kenny Millers game is down to the manager and coaches. Or his game has simply improved naturally:) Is it true that Bougherra has turned down a 2 year extension from Rangers?, if it is true then we should get as much money for him ASAP so we can try and get in a replacement.
-
Another thing, the ref didnae half feck up on Edus' goal, unbelievable, there were about four fouls on the USA players which could/should have resulted in a penalty, yet none of these incidents involved Edu!!!, I'd like to know what the ref actually gave the foul for???
-
Aye,I know:(
-
I just hope he has another outstanding game against the USA:) P.S. Cheers for correcting my typo error in the title,if it was you:thup:. I did try to change it using advanced but it never worked:confused:
-
I honestly see no reason why we should not be asking for that kind of money Pete. There was a rumour before the WC that Wenger rated him,if that is true then I would expect an offer from him, that's not as pie in the sky as it sounds, I mean after all if Sol Cambell can play for Arsenal then why not Bougherra????. Unless of course Barca beats Wenger to his signature:whistle:
