Martyn Waghorn and James Tavernier reject Rangers contract offers
cooponthewing replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
Complete non story, aimed at unsettling us from a broadsheet Rangers hating media outlet. I have never regularly read the guardian(it's the suggested objective academic outlet) I used to read the Independent or the i, now I don't buy any mainstream press at all, I get my news online. Why would we give these players whopping contracts until we know they can cut it at the top level? They have two years left on the current contracts! -

The song aside(which would be ace:yay:) he is a proven goal scorer and there is a reason why the wigan messageboards are going into semi meltdown at the thought of him leaving. He is a good, quality goal scorer. I disagree with some on this, I think 2m for a player of his ilk is a fair/good price tag and, if we have it available, money well spent.

I'm singing it in my head already ha ha lol? Please make it be soooooooo!?
-
Maybe it's wishful thinking, but at that price, bearing in mind he has just been at the euros(although he didn't start) he would be a great addition, just what the doctor ordered!!?

Yeh, where??

Just been reading the thread as been watching the game. If he wasn't going to get the votes, he could have stood for election and shone a light on the cabal and their not so hidden agenda, this would have either shown our hand very early or I suspect the club did not want it to look like a public humiliation which they felt could inflame a situation that is already precarious. This is where I suspect the phrase "as smoothly as possible" comes from, the club already know we are likely to have our fans "set up" at away venues(the usual crap plus after the cup final, heaven knows??) next season, letting the cabal put the boot in to our club one more time before the season begins wouldn't be worth the risk. I'm not insinuating our fans would be nothing but a credit to the club, but let's not give them the opportunity to inflame a situation which they will manipulate to hurt and damage us. It's a very fine line though, as now Liewell and his Rangers hating cohorts have the run of the place. This was really always going to be the case anyway, it still feel it's a case of keeping the wagons circled and I hope that's what we are doing. We do have to build some bridges but let's be choosy who we build them with. I'm happy if the board are 100% concentrating on us, and not giving that Rangers hating shower the chance to demean us publicly, suits me fine. As for Petrie and Thomson in the championship, I'm speechless! Rangers haters everywhere.

couldn't agree more Craig. I am in my early 40s too and remember playing football growing up with mates who were Celtic fans and everyone had a wind up. This kind of stuff would NEVER have happened. I'm afraid that when I can back from abroad in my twenties I noticed a change, a subtle change to be honest, just the usual stuff though, however over the last 4/5 years I would say it has become a hate filled cesspit. I must also say very objectively that it is not coming from our side although the politicians and media would have you believe differently, the phrase "me thinks you protest to much" springs to mind. I can't even psychologically explain that kind of behaviour, they don't know the victims or their families, so I guess its just a vacuum to vent their overall hatred for what it is in their mind that they think we stand for? I'm too close and emotion too it. I would prefer to just call them a shower of f*****g idiots!! I'm afraid there are many like them here now mate, sadly.

It's all very embarrassing. Wish I could comment, however other than the psychology of it, I'm not in possession of any of the political facts?. As a supporter, and I must say straight away that I don't pay money in to said project, it put us in a very bad light. Not the resignations or the fall outs, that happens in every businesses or life in general, but the fact it's all over social media and it's a mud slinging contest. If people have evidence of wrongdoing, present it, I don't know if there is or isn't any unsavoury goings on as all I'm seeing is spurious allegations that are being alluded too. If people or individuals have evidence or facts, then for the good of the club either A, bring them into the public domain and name names or B, go and find the evidence and then do the above. At the moment we have, what looks like, a very unprofessional attitude from all. As I say, I am not in possession of the facts, this is what it looks like from the outside.

At this stage in our development I'm happy with how things are going, it would of course make a huge difference financially through retail if we could rid ourselves of the fat man. We simply must attract and sign another striker though, we can't ask Kenny Miller to do a shift like last season, waggy is not an out and out and we really need a front man with presence. One on a bosman preferably or one that MW feels we are financially able to acquire.

I refer back to my original post re human nature, egos, angles and agendas. Anyone in any position of power will always encounter outside factors peripheral to their main goal, which may or may not influence how they act or behave in any given situation. I don't know anyone in said organisation and the political posturing again is part and parcel. The best we can hope for, as with any group of people in power, is that they find the right mix and a positive balance between their ego and self interest which is conducive to a productive working relationship for the enhancement of the group. The collective goal takes president over self interest within any group of people. I agree with all who say this looks amateurish and should be kept in house, all of those at the top could do with a few sessions with a management consulting company. As was said in a post above, this isn't a bowling club committee, it's a national institution that thousands are paying money, hard earned money in too, they deserve better, either from those at the top or those who feel their concerns are not being met. Imo this in house bickering is not helpful, we need to get a grip and sort it out.

Dave King Response #12 - THE TICKETING POLICY
cooponthewing replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
The police sticking their nose in where it's not wanted and the fact I have to bleach my seat twice a season, I don't have a problem with capping STs at around 43.5k. There are bears who, for a variety of reasons, won't or don't want to buy an ST but will go on a weekly basis. We are always going to sell the 5-6k or so public sale briefs for a home game and I feel it's fair that those who don't have an ST should still be afforded the chance to follow the club on an ad hoc basis. I hate the Girodome but there is no better feeling than humping them when your there!? -
Scottish Cup Final: Police release images of 13 men
cooponthewing replied to JFK-1's topic in Rangers Chat
Any more news of what's being done re Hibs fine/expulsion from the cup?? It's all gone very quiet and it will go away unless we keep on to of Petrie and has band of sweepers. -
Aye Pete, that's a fair summary too, it all looks bad and although I don't encourage the written press, there are many who do, and it seems they will jump all over us at any given opportunity. I would like to think everyone has the clubs best interests 100% at heart, but I do know a little about human nature and it would be miraculous if everyone had the best interests of the club 100% at heart, everyone has an angle, an agenda, the best we can hope is that they mix well.
-
I agree TB I don't buy the written press, why give them my money?, however something didn't sit well in all this and the phrase "self interest" worries me as imo it certainly wouldn't surprise me. I am not familiar with anyone in power in this organisation however, in any organisation, narcissism and self interest often go hand in hand and are a combustible combination. I hope they sort this shit out!.

Only really planning on going to the games I get on the CCC Tannoch, I'm sure I could ask to go as a visitor if it's Dundee or sheep etc. I will take your advice once the season is up and running mate? -

Cheers Craig, thanks for the kind words. I took up the Uni course which kept my mind occupied and have taken my life in a different direction. They say it gets easier, it dosnt, but you learn to accept it as best you can, take whatever positives you can, adapt and move forward. It gets better. It was and is the hardest thing I've been through, but it's a cliche, you get there. Been a few folk on here with some kind words over the last 9 months, thanks to everyone tbh? -

Cheers mate. Appreciate the info. I was asking today about CCC alloc for away games this season and the guy at TO advised it will be done on a game by game basis, depending on our allocation. -

I live in Glasgow mate. Worst comes to worst I can nip on the train, I'm sure I won't be the only one. -
I'm not on a supporters bus etc as wouldn't take my niece on one for obvious reasons. So, this being my first season doing away games on my own, without the missus, was wondering if anyone would mind a passenger? I don't drink so I won't be a pain in the arse if your driving or if anyone is going on the train, take pity on me, still finding my feet after the better half passing last year!. How sad do I sound ha ha?
-
Been over at the TO last few days and this morning(checking away CCC ticket alloc) was mobbed yesterday, a lot of 3s and 4s getting STs together, was even a few in this morning. Reckon we will hit 42-43k no probs? Can you not manage to get over to TO mate? Might be easier just st asking them face to face.

For those of us seated in the Broamloan with the Mhanks games, one game we will be moved to govan west corner(right next to them) and the other we will be up in the club deck.

The Old Firm story: How sectarianism came to define a derby
cooponthewing replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
I actually thought it was quite objective, then again I'm not familiar with the writers past or leanings, it seems a fair historical assessment although it has no bearing on today's social landscape with a deep sense of hatred emerging from the republican element at Celtic park and a Rangers who are now once again paving the way for open tolerant society in Scotland.
