They are playing as if hungover, pretty severely, so the red shirts may match their eyes. -

This is an old trope, isn't it: score a goal, then lose focus, fail to capitalise on the opening, and allow the opposition to dominate proceedings -

Hungary. Or Turkey. And, if the latter, you could get a hair transplant, too. (Elementary: grass tends not to grow on a busy street, Thinker). -

Not sure how it works these days I don't suppose ferrying him up the Clyde to Govan in a rubber dinghy would help? (Thought I'd try to clarify the position, before one or other or all of the maniacal Empire Loyalists on this Forum try to organise this.) -

OK. But let's not get carried away, here. We have signed Mohammed Diamonde, who has a medical history embracing Malaria. Now we are intent on securing the services of Jefte, a Brazilian, whose parent Club is Fluminense FC, known colloquially, if affectionately, as the 'Flu'. Not only that, the Flu is based in that area of Rio de J. known as -whisper it, if you can manage- Laranjeiras..... Worrying, no? On the upside, at least we are not signing players prone to joint and soft tissue injuries, or who are made of balsa wood. -

So, is @Gonzo79 suggesting that, in 2024, a prince may NOT become a princess? Monstrous, if true.

Three goals, three points, clean sheet, and all on an East coast January night. There was a bit of slackness, in passing, and movement/positional play, but the team was never really in trouble, and when it was, Spring-heeled Jack was there, as we have come to expect. Here's a question: what was the best goal of the three? They were all 'football' goals, different, and from different players. Yilmaz: great pass, great first touch, great finish. Cantwell: a terrific strike, controlled, and beautifully placed. Dessers: a subtle subterfuge, which sent several Hibees away for their tea. It did not quite reach the status of being 'disrespectful', more's the pity. I can't make up my mind. (I didn't think Dessers capable of such a finish, and I've belted and flayed him, with the rest of you, but the hat was off last night. Maybe there is a player there, after all.)

"Transgender golfer Hailey Davidson faces testosterone tests after US win" It's only the gowf, I know, but let's be honest: it's only a man who can reasonably claim to be a transexual/transgender woman. Davidson has had the hormones and the surgery, but....really? I suppose the upside is that this guy won't be washing his balls in the locker room sink. Transgender golfer Hailey Davidson faces testosterone tests after US win Controversial triumph at Florida event prompts NXXT Women’s Pro Tour to survey other players about its gender policy Martyn Ziegler, Chief Sports Reporter Wednesday January 24 2024, 12.01am, The Time https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/transgender-golfer-hailey-davidson-faces-testosterone-tests-after-us-win-p9mwgnttm A women’s tour has asked a transgender golfer to undergo extra testosterone tests after she won an event in the United States — and will survey other players about its policy. Scotland-born Hailey Davidson, 30, who now lives in the US, became the first transgender golfer to win a professional tournament when she triumphed in the NXXT Women’s Classic Pro Tour event in Orlando, Florida. Davidson’s win has focused attention on golf’s policy that allows transgender players to take part in women’s events if they have had hormone treatment to reduce testosterone. The LPGA removed its “female at birth” condition for competitions in 2010, but has required reduced testosterone for a year and gender reassignment surgery. There has been criticism of the policy, including from Judy Murray, the mother of the tennis star Andy Murray, who tweeted in 2022 that it was “not fair at all” that Davidson could compete and potentially qualify for the LPGA Tour, before adding: “Protect women’s sport.” Stuart McKinnon, the chief executive of NXXT Golf, said it would seek the opinion of the circuit’s players and request that Davidson undergoes further testing. “Part of our commitment is ensuring an environment that is inclusive and safe for all members,” he said. “In light of recent events, we have initiated a poll among our tour players to gather their opinions on our gender policy. We believe it is vital to consider the perspectives of those directly affected by these policies. “Furthermore, in maintaining the integrity of our standards, we have requested Hailey Davidson to undergo additional testosterone testing to ensure compliance with the appropriate guidelines.” Davidson believes being born male no longer gives her any physiological advantages, and has said that she received death threats on social media after her victory. She said that she did not object to the survey, telling Golfweek: “At this point, we’re trying anything to see if we can cool the fire down a little.” Regarding the threats, she added: “It comes with the territory, I suppose. Someone who is at home really frustrated with themselves trying to take it out on me. If I don’t laugh, I’m going to be miserable.” Davidson began hormone treatments on September 24, 2015 — a date she has tattooed on her arm — and underwent gender reassignment surgery in January 2021.

I was disappointed when the Euro Meta League was scuppered. I thought that it was best for these Super Clubs to fuck right off, and play their games in Riyadh, Doha, Singapore, KL, Manila, etc. The rest of us poor saps would have had an unprecedented opportunity to reorganise and reengineer domestic competitions, and cross border competitions, and leagues. I was confident that the novelty of the Super League would wear off in Europe, after a few years, 5, say, or 6, or 7, and the great and the good would find their audiences and paymasters increasingly, and increasingly firmly, located in the ME, and SE Asia. The unfashionable rump would have had the chance to create new, interesting, and competitive contests, Cups, Leagues, whatever, with public support, and clear marketability. The hubris of the few, with the inevitable nemesis, and catharsis for the many. Pusillanimous, short sighted, administrators, and owners, failed us.
