  1. No, thanks. You would have to pay me £3 a pint to drink it, maybe more, now that I think about it. Sweet, fizzy, and with that odd McEwan's taste of wet rot, if I recall correctly.
  2. I knew that there was somebody, somewhere who drank Tartan Special.
  3. In football terms, Mexico is part of CONCACAF, which embraces North America, Central America, the Caribbean, and 3 countries from the South American Mainland (Guyana, Surinam, and French Guiana, which, more properly, may be a Department of France). CONCAAF's Gold Cup competition has its finals every 2 years, and I don't think that Mexico, the USA, and Canada, ie the teams categorised as North American, have to pre-qualify. These teams seem to be automatic finalists. So, if we sign Mexican internationalists, they will be likely to disappear every 2 years, much like African Internationalists would. To have work permits renewed will they have to maintain their Internationalist status? I am unsure.
  4. Not many Jimmy Millars in a pack.
  5. Your post, immediately below mine, and logged within 4 minutes, and with no reference to The Limeburner whatsoever, reads like a response to me. Therefore I recommend that you exercise some care, and courtesy, in future, when you choose to go off half cocked.
  6. Nothing to do with him being Mexican. He seems to have off field issues. If, as I have pointed out, he did not have such problems, however defined, we would not get within one sniff of his signature. Keep your gratuitous, and insulting, assumptions to yourself, please.
  7. It is when it affects his form long term.
  8. We have to trust PC, in this regard; we have little option. Given his talent -beyond, it seems, anything @Ibrox at the moment, and probably beyond what's in Scotland, bar one, maybe two- he may be worth the gamble, but only if the price, and the wages, don't bugger up the kitty, and alienate the rest of the dressing room.
  9. One wishes that The Acas go through, anything to hasten what one hopes will be the demise of that nasty outfit.
  10. These are their clothes; these are what they have in their wardrobes; these are what they wear. And, to be fair, rahooped tap is useful for all occasions: church, weddings, funerals, vigils, a night at the darts, a morning in the dock. an Installation..ah, perhaps not,....
  11. Clean sheets guaranteed, then?
  12. Not true. We all want it to be a brilliant signing, but he does represent something of a punt, beyond that which, to a greater or lesser extent, every acquisition represents. Terrific player, apparently, lifestyle issues, apparently. Without the latter, we would not get near him.
  13. We are broad church, mon ami, a broad church. So, "Hell, yeah."
  14. He is, by all accounts, a player, but has lifestyle issues, it seems. Those issues are of a type not unknown in Scotland.
  15. The guy is a punt. Is he worth that punt? Time will tell. In the interim we have to trust PC, his knowledge of the player, and his man management skills. Personally, I should rather be pessimistic, and wrong, than optimistic and wrong.
  16. You were no great loss to the Diplomatic Corps.
  17. A pinch of salt is what goes with Tequila, I am told. Let's hope the signing works.
  18. You are more likely to be accused of something you are......
  19. The best sides of the 21st Century do not 'drink like fish'. Even the 'only fairly decent' sides don't. Let us hope the boy can be properly managed, and will, as a result, concentrate on football. If he has problems of a bibulous nature, Glasgow -indeed Scotland- may not be the best place to land to resurrect a career. He does seem to be a talented lad, so I think that we should keep fingers crossed. For the avoidance of doubt: I do not want him to fail.
