  1. Just moments after leading PSV Eindhoven to their third successive Eredivisie title, club captain Phillip Cocu announced that he will leave the club this summer. PSV's 5-1 win over Vitesse Arnhem saw them pip Ajax to the title with a goal difference better by just one. Cocu then confirmed that Sunday's match had been his last in a PSV shirt, although he is not yet certain whether he will retire or play elsewhere. "There is a possibility I will play next season," he said. "Not at PSV, but a foreign adventure is possible." He will probably go to Quatar but he could still do a job for us. One of the best players of this time.
  2. Latest rumour is he will take over at Newcastle. Man City also a possibility. Glenn Roeder and Stuart Pearce will feel happy with this speculation.

    3-5-2??

Formations are in fact bullshit. You can put 11 dustbins in any formation you want but if there is no movement then there will be no difference. 3-5-2 can easily become 5-3-2 if the other team are playing better. How often do you see teams pinned back on there own 18 yard line. What formation is that? You can only choose your formation if you are the stronger team and then it mostly works out as a 4-3-3. The difference between formations on the blackboard is a few inches, on the park a few yards, but the fact is the stronger team will almost always win no matter what formation they play.
  4. I saw a side to Koeverman today that i had not seen before as AZ threw away the Dutch championship on the last day. He has been injured for the last few weeks but came on at half time. He ran his heart out , fought for every thing, scored, hit the post with a screamer of a shot, and cried like a baby in defeat. Running to the dressing room he punched a plastic partition which i think broke. Maybe not a great thing to do but it showed me he really cares. I really hope we go for him as i now think he will be great for us. Koeverman and Brown are top choice for me.
  5. I agree with that but in January 3mill was top money for him so if the deal was then sealed the chairman had done well getting top dollar. The fact that he played well at international level and had a good cup run may have put the price up but if Brown had played crap in the second half of the season the price could have collapsed.
  6. The Hibs chairman does not want to sell to Celtic as he feels they robbed him with the Riorden deal. The rumours in January were that we had paid 5 mill for Brown and Thomson but Brown had to see out the season. Let's hope that was true.
  7. According to Chick Young it is already a done deal for us but i don't know if that means much. I agree it would really hurt to lose him to the tims.
  8. I must admit Craig, apart from sitting in different sections of the same pub, which we didn't realise was split in two(Times square, St Enochs), Gazza turned up to meet me and i thoroughly enjoyed his company:cheers: . I hope the feeling was mutual and didn't put him off meeting other Gersnetters:confused: . Maybe one day there will be a Gersnet get together where everyone comes. Euro final hopefully!!!!
  9. The thing is some seem to think that only we are going to strengthen our squad and that the dark side will rest on their laurels. the fact is they will have 10mill CL money to spend so they will also be raising the bar with a few signings. We have to hope our signings if any will blend in quicker and be better signings but to be honest Celtic seem to have done better in this department in recent years. I agree it is swings and roundabouts but the circle may take a few years yet to get back round to us. I think we will hit 60 first but the tims may hit 50 before we do it.
  10. I agree with the PSV goal certainly, as no one gave us a chance before the game. Leeds goal also brilliant due to the excitement. Derek Johnstone scoring as a 16 year old with a header against the tims also sticks out in my mind. One of the most rememberable though has to be big Bertie Konterman's against the tims from a long way. That was a peach and for him a one and only probably.
  11. BMCK The thing is if this was not thrown up by UEFA or the government, neither the RST or any other supporters would be trying to change things at the speed things are happening now. The Billy Boys and *** would still be echoing round the Ibrox terraces. Force is not the way to change things but sometimes people need a shove in the right direction to get things going. Whether people feel abused or not, is not the issue the fact is it is anti-social behaviour and as a society we should be trying to eradicate that behaviour. This does not mean people can't hold their beliefs it means they\we have to learn to live next to and respect others with other beliefs. BMCK Unfortunately religion\sectarianism is one of the possible reasons kids and also adults are bullied. Also a kid in a Rangers or Celtic top getting stabbed may not be a sectarian act as you say, it may be a knife culture but surely the way to go forward is to eradicate them both and rid ourselves of the deed and the possible motive. BMCK Protestantism/Catholicism or even Muslim certainly doesn't preach psychological abuse if they are followed in the right way. Unfortunately some abuse these religions and use them as a reason to hate. As you say, sectarian killings are possibly teenage thuggery, but by your same yes and no way of thinking, there is a huge possibility that it is sectarian. If a person is knifed or attacked on his way home from a game by youths wearing opposite colours and he\she doesn't die, do you not think this would leave massive psychological scars? When you are trying to fumigate rats you have to fumigate the whole house you cannot allow them clear areas as they will only breed, that is why football grounds have to be targeted as well as they are seen as havens for bigots to shout their abuse. I am glad we both agree that education is the right way forward and as i said it is not about losing our religion but accepting and respecting other peoples beliefs.
  12. Good piece but one i totally disagree with. Turning a blind eye does not just make things die down or go away. Try telling the parents of all the kids who commit suicide due to school bullying that we should let the bullies get on with it in the hope it stops. You may be Psychologically strong enough to turn a blind eye to abuse be it verbal or Psychological, but the fact is millions of people are not and these people who are Psychologically weaker have to be protected by the stronger minded. Secondly why should the majority accept the morals and values of these morons in the minority as you say. I agree that using force to eradicate anything mostly works in the opposite direction and makes people more staunch. We must not turn a blind eye on any anti-social behaviour , nor should we use force to eradicate it, but we should be trying to educate people especially kids from a young age. Teaching people to respect one another is the way forward and that has to be taught by parents to there kids, not learning them *** and other party pieces before they are out their nappies. As for Ibrox, Rangers have control of who comes into the stadium. If you want to support Rangers then you are welcome but if you want to support bigotry, then no turning any blind eye, all supporters have now been well warned they will not be welcome in the future. The government are voted in by the majority and are totally correct in trying to eradicate any anti-social behaviour be it bigotry, racism, terrorism etc but it has to be eradicated on both sides of the divide and that is where things are not always on an even ground. Things won't change overnight but if nobody does anything they won't change at all. Although we hated UEFA's stance against us, maybe in the long run it will be a blessing in disguise.
  13. If we bring Alves from Herenveen with him we will be set for the next few years. Och well dream on:sleep:
  14. Not every one obviously i was in your team. :(
  15. Well i think one thing is certain which has proved itself, Barry Ferguson is not that man. Anyone who thinks they are better than all the other players put together and won't pass to certain players because he has cast judgement on them is certainly not the man for the job. As i have said before, Advocaat, lost the dressing room. Eck, lost the dressing room. PLG, lost the dressing room. Let us now look for a common denominator and the one player to play for all three managers is Barry Ferguson. Funnily enough Ruud Gullit said over Feynoord yesterday" If your best player has a negative influence in the dressing room it shows on the park. If we can get 3 or 4 mill for Barry there are plenty of players out there who will fight for the team more than Barry has. Let Barry go to, dancing with the stars, his twists and turns will get the jury to unite in front of him, just like he gives the opposition defence the time to do. Maybe he is better at the Paso Doble than pass the ball½. Hopefully we will sell him and then maybe we can all learn to jive.
  16. No he is a youth coach at Ajax. He is 37 Gribz, too old for Rangers now.
  17. Has been offered a new contract bij Al-Shamal in Quatar. Shit we could have used him the last few years.
  18. As the old saying goes" sometimes less is more" Barry may be one of the most talented players in Scotland and possibly England as well(i am serious on that) but the fact is he is not a team player. He does what Barry Ferguson wants to do and not what is best for the team. As Gribz said, at the beginning of the season we played awesome football until Barry came back in, and we went downhill from there. The fact that Boyd gave his six finger salute does not mean that the dressing room was with Fergie, but that Boyd was also a traitor.
  19. This guy Lennon seems to be a fantastic prospect from what i have been reading recently i hope he breaks into the first team squad next season or even gets a game this season when second place is certain. Well done to the guy's hopefully they win the league and Falkirk finish second.
  20. Unfortunately we now live in an over the top capitalist world and the most important thing in the world is keeping the shareholders happy. If the News of the world print a story that sells millions of extra papers but get taken to court and have to pay a few hundred thousand then it is good business. We all play a roll in the whole process. We all want to read about sensation. If it is posted on here tomorrow Rangers u19's struggle to beat Dundee utd u19's or Barry Ferguson arrested for beating his wife, what story will you read first? In these times where wages have been almost frozen, papers can't put in huge price increases so they have to sell more papers and if that means telling a few lies then so what.
  21. The squads were much smaller in the seventies and the same players played week in week out. As you were only allowed 2 subs they were in fact mainly used for injuries. Reserve players were mostly from the second team so therefore there were fewer Duds, more just young players that didn't quite make it. Add Colin West to the list, i believe he was a Souness signing.
  22. Excellent read Barry. I watched a programme a while back where all the top sport journalists gave their account of the changing faces of the press. Until the 1978 WC the journalists were actually a part of the team and travelled in the same airplaines as the team. Because of that, all that happened within the team was actually an open book. After all the hysteria of Ally and his tartan army the chief editors of the papers decided to send the sensation journalists to the WC behind the backs of the sport journalists. This actually led to fights in bars between the two sets of journalists as the sports journalists realised there position of trust was in jeopardy. The Willie Johnston drugs fiasco gave the sensation press their story and football appeared on the front pages which in those days was almost unknown. After that football clubs saw what the press could do, the position of trust for the sports journalists disappeared. The modern day press has unfortunately become totally sensationalist and a player getting drunk in a bar gets bigger headlines than a 4-4 draw with 4 missed penalties. Unfortunately Mr Murray has decided hiding his head in the sand is the best way to defend our club. If he was a football defender he would have been dropped long ago. If one of his companies got bad press in the stock exchange he would react immediately. Mr Murray it is time to join the first team and be a great defender of our club.
  23. Did the bad play not coincide with Fergie coming back into the team?
  24. Just watched the game again and noticed a number of red hand flags in the crowd. Funny i never read anywhere in the press about sectarian flags at the game.
  25. Was on one of the Dutch football programmes Gribz. He is still really young and i hate to admit a great prospect for the future, so not that strange imo really, as the Manu midfield are kicking on
