  1. Sort of. I'm not trying to be obtuse and yes I know you said 'the season'. The context of where you are saying this is important as you are saying it in a thread relating to the board and the resignation of two board members which implies further consideration. Since this board took over I personally think the Club has been run with a specific remit and to all intents and purposes, with the resolution of Mike Ashleys direct/indirect involvement, a hangover from the previous board I might add, this board has succeeded in that regard. Their first decision was Stuart McCall, then Warburton and in spite of how that ended Warburton achieved what he was brought in to do, which was promotion from the Championship. I agree that the next managerial decision was a gamble and turned out to be a poor one in Pedro but in that case hindsight is always 20/20. Murty for me was always a stop gap for them while they worked within the constraints they placed upon themselves. The structure, and I'm being as honest as any other Rangers fan can outside looking in, of how the Club is run looks far better than I would have imagined it would be at this stage in the project. Of course it looks poor from a playing perspective to Rangers fans. However from a business perspective looking at it objectively they've been fairly successful. So the upshot is that I don't think the Club is being run poorly. I don't however think that the public relations operation has been particularly successful which has allowed enough room for the hostile SMSM to turn any and indeed all information coming from the Club into their stock and trade Soap Opera type plot lines damaging the Rangers brand which has always in truth been their remit. In my opinion, and with the SMSM cards stacked heavily against anything even slightly positive with regards to Rangers, the board need to have a visible presence across independent media and message boards simply to disseminate relevant and important information quicker and to the people who will better use it and pass it to the fans. This latest situation may well be just making way for new investors to take their place on the board however I'm puzzled as to why it has been announced without the new investors being in place... are we not going to like who that might be or is there some other reason like many have suggested in this thread already?
  2. First you say this... Then this... So its either nothing sensational or the Club is being run like a joke. Bear in mind that the context here is that two NED's have resigned their position. So which is it... is it sensational as in the Club is actually being run like a joke or is it just simply procedural and there is nothing unusual in play here? I'm completely confused by your conflicting and somewhat contradictory altering position within the space of three consecutive comments. Either way its a bit of a tease mate.
  3. Theres not much to say about that so far and its only half time but 7 goals against us for no reply in the last two games against this mob is simply not acceptable. We need to have a major look at ourselves from top to bottom.
  4. Bobby McKean was a great provider and scored a fair few into the bargain too. So much so that at times he kept Calimero out of the team. Sadly we'll never know how good he could have become.
  5. Nope...! If we was to go to the EPL or Championship then he'd be worth 5 mil but not to another SPFL club. Hibs certainly wouldn't sell him to us they'd use the not selling to a rival bollocks then promptly sell him to Celtic.
  6. Big Jaws

    A must win

We're due a win against them and a good win at that. In saying that though although this team has the ability to do that I don't think they've got the mindset to.
  7. Yeah thats true they over worked it a hell of a lot. There was one half way three quarters of the way through the second half where Hearts defence had stepped up and were all sitting inside the center circle the ball breaks to Murphy just inside our own half as he's sitting on the touch line. Cummings and Candeias are inside our half and make the break forward as its the natural thing to do if Murphy pings it over the top of Berra as he should. Instead they both have to turn back get on side and wait. It should have been a first time pass over the top, he had plenty time and the ball was running just right for him to play that ball but he either didn't see it was on or he chose to take a touch and in the end fucked it all up.
  8. Whats the issue here? Thats about 30-40 minutes before kick off they hadn't all come out of the dressing room to warm up yet. Once they were all out he was with Craig Flannigan who took the subs for their circuits and warm up. He didnt look any different to any of the others warming up from where I was sitting.
  9. There was roughly 25-35k at Ibrox today. With the silent protest the atmosphere was deathly quiet. I felt we were poor first half although we kept the ball for the most of it but did nothing to very little with it. Our passing and build up play was very, very slow! In fact the game was crying out for someone to shift it quickly or play around them with the one touch stuff we do when we can be bothered but no it wasn't to be. Second half I missed the first goal for the sake of two pies. Candeias came onto a game and to be honest for my money that wee man won us the game today. Windass got hooked and rightly so most of the game, in spite of being Rousseau's boi, he did nothing of any value instead he marked space all day. He was very rarely where the ball was going to be. The only time he did a thing I never seen it with the first goal as I said two pies cost me 5 seconds of Windass wizardry. My overall take on the game was that we need to sharpen up, move the ball quicker and stop panicking about stuff that hasn't happened yet. Also when we're 2-1 up with 3 minutes added time to play the ball should be held near either of the oppositions corner flags. Game management needs addressed pronto!
  10. This last week starting with the poor showing in the semi final coupled to the suspension of Wallace and Miller has been more difficult than it needed to be. Given where we've been in the last 6 years we've had worse weeks as Rangers fans. As far as Celtic, Aberdeen and Hibs are concerned I seriously couldn't care less about them or their results. I'm a Rangers supporter and I only care about Rangers. What was obvious was that Celtic played for a draw yesterday and only turned up for the last 5 mins all so they could get their title decider against us at home. We've not played well consistently this season but that was not a smart move on their part. We don't think we're good enough nor do we expect to beat them in the next game but they should still have wrapped the league up yesterday against Hibs and didn't. That's a mistake because the league isn't over yet. Now lets hope the Rangers turn up today against Hearts and give them a spanking and then carry that on to the next game.
  11. I'd imagine many will turn up as you and Craig say with a morbid fascination to see what if anything happens. I do expect there to be a fair few empty seats although I cant see exactly how many from my seat in the Govan Front but I can when I'm watching on RTV. There may well be a token gathering on the front steps after the game with the score dictating its vocal ferocity.
  12. There may be managers who's salaries are unaffordable at this time. There may also be managers whom would never work for our club under any circumstances. I however do not subscribe to the notion that the Rangers Football Club managers position is ANY less prestigious than it was before the companies running the Club found themselves in financial difficulties. To agree with that would be tantamount to agreement with the moon howlers that the Club is now a lesser club. It is not! It is exactly the same Club and institution that it has always been. We disagree on this point and I'm perfectly comfortable disagreeing with you about it. Its a fundamental argument and I don't need you to be in agreement with me on any level whatsoever whether you are a Rangers supporter or not is irrelevant. I'm not questioning whom you support I'm questioning your assertion that the position of Rangers manager, or by association, that of any other position within Rangers Football Club is somehow considered lesser than it was or that it is somewhat toxic. Its an argument I find completely incredulous! However they go about it, I just hope they get it right this time. I think there will be a fair few of the better managers who aren't unemployed who won't want the Ibrox job under current circumstances. I responded to Busters post above and you decided to interject into the conversation. A conversation that I and Buster were perfectly capable of resolving through reasonable discussion. I disagree with you and posed the question... What are you talking about? Since then you've told me how my reply was condescending and indeed wrong thinking. So far you haven't explained to me why I am wrong thinking. So with that said... Please explain to me in what way Glasgow Rangers Football Club are no longer the same Glasgow Rangers Football Club as it was before the financial issues of 2012? If you cant explain this to me then you should retract your assertion and accept that WE ARE THE SAME CLUB WITH THE SAME HISTORY AND THE SAME PRESTIGE! I shouldn't need to remind anyone of this but the position of Rangers first team manager is extremely prestigious! Rangers have not now nor have they ever been an unattractive opportunity for any ambitious footballer/manager regardless of any financial issues or their reach today. Again..... I'll reiterate asking another what they are talking about during discussion is neither condescending nor is it disrespectful its an attempt to clarify their point. In this case it was however quite obviously an enquiry fuelled by incredulity! What clearly passes you by is that your 'right on' opinion might have the opposite affect to that which you intended. Little apples will grow again!
  13. No I'm not Craig but it appeared to me that you were. I apologise if I misunderstood what you were saying as it occurs to me that thats where the misunderstanding may lay here so I'll clarify. I do not consider Club1872 Limited or any of the other companies associated with it as either a fan or as a representative of a collection of fans. I was not talking about a fan representative on the board I was quite clearly talking about a Club1972 representative on the board and from that perspective. I guess that is where the picture becomes slightly less clear for some because the public perception is that it is a fan rep because it draws its finance from donations from fans. However it does not state anything like that in its literature. Instead it uses the wording 'be part of the generation that safeguards our great Club for all the future generations still to come'. I fail to see how any company could fulfil that remit/commitment without having a representative on the board of RIFC plc. That doesn't not mean that fans cannot affect the board or the decisions that a board has to make. Yes I agree with you that fans can protest in all the ways you describe in the above post of that there is absolutely no doubt but I am not talking about fan representation at all and I feel its a mistake to look at Club1872 as fan representation by proxy. EDIT: Oh almost forgot the only thing thats missing from the original statement is a chorus of... 'Will your anchor hold...' as they pass round the offer tray.
  14. Andy Cole practised a lot of the time without a ball using the muscle memory technique which is where through repetition of a particular movement the body can reproduce that movement without conscious thought, it becomes automatic. He had not a bad return with somewhere in the region of 274 career goals.
  15. The club1872 statement is mince Craig and I agree with the majority of what you say however your first sentence is also mince. Its not just a badge! Its an investment and any shareholder/investor in the position of club1872 should have a position on the board. The fact that they don't is concerning. As I say though the rest of your comment is a fair shout.
  16. He's not my cuppa tea but he is a huge draw in Vegas and had to be included in the analogy. Folk who've worked in the game know he's been away from Vegas for a few years but is set to return to residence some time in 2018. To add a little more flesh to the bones in his case its slightly different as he's been there and done it already and is very well regarded. He and his people are the ones conducting the operation, deciding on suitable venues, show type 4-5 shows per week etc rather than being approached.
  17. Its not really mate and I'm sick to the back teeth of seeing it written and spoken about across multiple forums and Rangers supporters conversations as if its a thing. It's not! Here's one example. I don't think the current Everton manager is a particularly great manager but he has a track record of stabilising clubs he's been in charge of and making them very difficult to beat... up to a point. Couple that to the fact, regardless of how short it was, that he has been the England national team coach. His record and history has been written in countless blogs, forums and wiki's across the stat gathering world. Any board room thinking of employing the chap does not need to ask him to submit an application/CV. They already know what he brings if they chose to appoint him. This is the entertainments business, its sport related, but its entertainment none the less and this is the issue I have with this job application talk nonsense. You don't ask an Elvis, Tom Jones, Neil Diamond, Diana Ross, Elton John, Barry Manilow etc etc etc to submit an application and CV to play in residence in a Vegas venue. You already know what they bring so you approach them/their people and work out the details of a contract and hey presto as if by David Copperfield magic there they are in residence in a Vegas venue! Murray was an arsehole and a rip off merchant but everyone can see he had an understanding of the entertainment industry he was operating in. The current board and the chairman have not got the slightest clue about the industry or how to deal with it because they for the most part are dressed up accountants!
  18. I know its a rule down south but I don't know if it is actually applied up here.
  19. What like on S1 jobs or some other job site? Of course I'm joking but the point is pertinent. That's NOT how its done at Rangers or Celtic or even the top 8 EPL sides or indeed any other top 2-4 European clubs in their own domestic leagues. Its the type of thing that's done in lower leagues not at top clubs. Quite frankly lets have no more of this company HR admin shite. The board need to decide from a short list of potential candidates who they think is best suited to the Rangers managers job, not without the football people at the clubs involvement, and then go and get that person. You never know who might be up for the job until you ask them in football and no manager worth their salt is going to sit through some application process like a desk clerk for feck sake.
  20. You'll need to ask the board those questions. You'll be unlikely to get any solid answers that you can work with but that's whom you should ask. My guess as I said above is that they wanted to attempt the transition from the previous regime with as little capital expenditure as possible. Some of the decisions made during those negotiations don't seem to have borne any fruit from a supporters perspective however they have made in roads as far as club stability is concerned. As far as I can see they (Board) are at a cross roads... that is it needs to provide a decent product on the field that will entice/excite the support to insure that the club retains its season ticket uptake. And as far as I'm concerned that begins with the appointment of a manager even if it costs a £1m to do that. If they don't and they continue picking up guys who've won a game or two for hearts, Kilmarnock etc etc etc then we the fans are in for more of the same and I cant see them putting up with it. Its that simple. Its up to the board to sort that side of the deal out not me. I just sit in the stand.
  21. There's obviously a disconnect or cross purpose here... what you seem to be saying is that you don't think that Rangers can attract a decent quality manager thats fine you should say that and say why you think that its allowed in debate. Equally I'm allowed to say without being accused of arrogance that Rangers Footaball Club are one of the biggest football clubs in the world, do you contest this, if you don't then explain to me why an ambitious manager wouldn't want to mange at such a club? Its not arrogance its logic!
  22. Who knew that Wallace was going to be as successful as he was? No one did he was untested the only thing that suggested he might have the right calibre was his wee Berwick Rangers teem beat us in the cup in 67' but even after that he had to spend a couple of seasons with Hearts and when he eventually arrived at Rangers in 70' he still had another two years under Waddell before he was deemed anywhere near good enough to be Rangers manager. Basically I'm saying he showed promise as a young manager then he's effectively had a 4 year apprenticeship with two clubs, two at Hearts and two at Rangers, before he's considered for the Rangers managers job and only on the say so of Waddell who was moving upstairs. Of course the selection process is slightly different these days that was 48 years ago and the game has moved on. I'd be extremely surprised if it wasn't. Its abundantly clear that at least some form of that type of diligence on behalf of the board is an absolute necessity! There's very little wiggle room for any more experiments going forward. The board needs to appoint a manager who is both already successful and has the potential to be more successful in future. Its got nothing to do with Rangers being unattractive and more to do with Rangers board attempting to stabilise the club with as little cash as they could get away with. Its not down to me to make Rangers an attractive position for managers/coaches thats the Boards job. Whether you or I like it or not looking across the internet sites today's game has galvanised the Rangers supporters view of this board and they need to do something about it immediately. No six weeks appointments, interview process. What I'm seeing everywhere is.... 'We're sick of this shit... Get it fucking sorted out!' and are the words on almost every Rangers supports lips out there after this afternoon!
