Normally... or rather last season you'd be right however SG doesn't have Candeias in that position, well at least not in the two matches we've seen, its been Windass he's had there Candeias has been inside in midfield. So its Windass job to do that. Maybe SG thinks making him track and do that stuff will make him a better player or improve him somehow I don't know there is definitely more responsibility in that role than what he's used to.

I pay my money like every one else when I can get to the games or when I can't my RTV sub. I'm entitled to my opinion just the same as you. If you think its embarrassing that I'm not convinced fawning over an inconsistent player and I'm content to let him go then thats up to you but your opinion is no more valid than mine.

I am being objective. We bought him for £60k as a prospect. We've had him for 2 seasons since a pre=season contract for the start of 16-17 season he's improved as far as I think he can. I think he shows great ability at times but something isn't right with him he lacks consistency and if the rumours are true he's also like this in training sometimes brilliant and other times garbage. To me he's not desperate enough or as SG puts it hungry enough.

It was Candeias that kept the ball in play after that he slipped Tav in through two tracking defenders. if Candeias isn't lightning quick to that ball then nothing happens. Josh Windass may have made the clearance, his tracking back there is where Candeias would have been if he was playing in his normal winger role, he made many other attempts like that all night that were mopped up by the opposition and his attempts to take on the LB were laughable. Rousseau argues he was just quicker... no he wasn't he was smarter, stronger and quicker and Windass body language said it all when he was given the ball and asked to beat him... he knew he couldn't. I've had enough of Josh Windass he's a 60 grand player and will do well for his new club in league one or two down south... thanks very much and buh bye son!

We don't really know that yet they played a very defensive formation with a lone striker which meant they only had a couple of chances. I'm more concerned at the ease that they passed the ball through us when they did have it. Granted they'll be more open on Tuesday as they need to score to win which might allow our attack some room to work in. But if they can play like that and be on the attack also it'll be a real test in the heat.

I thought we were poor from mid to front to be honest. The two CH did very well when they were called on to do anything Goldson was excellent and Katic read the game very well. I thought we stood off them too much in midfield and with that they just passed the ball through us. Their left back had Windass beat at every turn when he went to the right in place of Candeias. Morelos held the ball up well at times Murphy did well enough and took his goal well but we IMO tended to over play it and because of that we didn't really look that dangerous until Middleton came on.

We've controlled the game but other than a couple of great deliveries which we should have scored from our final ball has been lacking. They play counter attacking football with some nice one touch stuff in and around the middle of the park and other than a shot from distance that hit the bar ( looked to me like McGregor had it covered if it was lower) haven't done much in the last third. They will be very dangerous at their own place and we need to put them away here and now.

Ahh OK your post makes sense now we're not discussing the same thing. I'm not arguing that the only time they lost was because they came up against decent opposition. I also disagree with DMMA on that too. I'm not making comparisons between Belgium and Columbia either. I'm simply arguing that England lost a competitive game in the World Cup finals regardless of who, how or why they lost that match to. I'm arguing that the commentator was wrong in saying that England being behind against Croatia was the first time in the tournament that they were behind. It clearly wasn't.
-
I took your point and still disagree with you. The England reserve team wasn't good enough to beat the Belgium reserve team. I agree that both teams were weaker teams than they would normally have out and that there was a case for Southgate to do that both in terms of game time and inclusion for his squad players and tactically. However it was a full international match inside the most prestigious tournament in the world. As far as would they have beaten them with their full XI's out well we'll find that out on Saturday wont we? EDIT: Albeit without arguably in my opinion their best player of the tournament in Kieran Trippier as he's injured I believe.
-
I disagree with you both of course it was important. It was the last game of the World Cup group stages to determine who won the group going into the last 16. Winning the group meant that there would be a much tougher route to the final as Belgium found out with the calibre of opponent they've had to face. I'm not criticising Gareth Southgate or the players here rather suggesting there is a way to navigate sections of tournaments with a degree of savvy.

Gerry Collins talking about Stevie G at the work permit meeting
Big Jaws replied to uneasydaz's topic in Rangers Chat
If its not confidential then he can speak about it however I would argue that discussing what was said in a private meeting with the press is in poor form. -
I mentioned it because hearing him say that jogging around was not on was a marked change, a breath of fresh air if you like, from the otherwise nicey, nicey of the previous coaches/managers. He want them snapping into tackles and chasing the ball down but not in an aimless or listless way he is demanding much more from them.

David Edgar and the lads over at Heart & Hand produce a very smooth polished product which their free Monday Pod is generally in the 60+ mins area and they've been making Pods for 9 years. Thats 9 years! This weeks Gersnet pod is 55 mins long from intro to close. Our initial goal for the Pod was always to have it sub 60 mins and we've achieved that with this weeks show and give or take we've managed that with one or two of our other shows. Personally speaking I feel that has been very impressive work from all the lads involved especially considering we're only on our 9th Pod. Thats 9th Pod! I'm citing the H&H as a sort of bench mark since they are hands down the most successful Rangers Podcast available so we've got a hell of a lot of time to make up to get to that sort of standard. -
The pundits were doing their job as best as they saw fit to be fair. I've no issues at all with and Englishman getting excited/ carried away while supporting his country. What I cannot abide is inaccuracy from commentators and at one stage the commentator who had Glenn Hoddle along side him in the booth said... 'that's the first time England have been behind in this tournament' completely erasing their defeat to Belgium. Bias I can handle, I'm fine with that however something as wrong as that should have been corrected and Hoddle should have been the man to do it but he didn't!

A talent like Pete can't be contained. So its not fair us in the control room have to put up with keeping it all to ourselves rather than sharing the genius with everyone else.?
