As I said, such a large support will have differing political views. We both support the same Rangers. You choose to associate it with certain political views. I don't. It's that simple.
-
Yes, but they shouldn't be. They've got nothing to do with Rangers.
-
I just don't see politics having anything to do with Rangers. I've no doubt there will be political issues ongoing within the SFA, SPL, etc, but not in the mainstream political arena. I don't think any of them care one bit about football in general. We have a huge support from all backgrounds, religions and cultures. I think it's fair to say that every political party will be voted for by a section of our support. I see that as a good thing. Equally you'll have supporters with strong views one way or another on independence, climate change, BrExit, and other issues. We are not all the same, so to characterise our club as being political one way or another is not something that I accept. We are a football club. We've got enough enemies in the game without creating divisions in our own support.

I really hope that all fans get behind the manager whoever he is. I was so disappointed in the lack of support we gave as a support to PC. I'm not a fan of DMc but I'll be supporting him as I would any Rangers manager, afterall that's my role. That's our role.
-
I think that can be true, but it depends at what level you want the team to perform. At senior level, although not as prevalent in Scottish football, there needs to much more emphasis on tactics. If we don't get it right, we get punished in Europe, and that's where we need to make it happen. Guardiola doesn't just put his team out on the pitch. They analyse every detail to make small improvements to the chance that his team will win the game. I do agree that 90% at least is down to the players, but that 10% can be the difference between winning and losing. It's worth the effort.
-
That's because they're lazy, and not very bright. It's much easier to make up controversy than to understand the game enough to opine on tactics, etc. Boyd has made a career out of being lazy so why change now? These establishment pundits keep themselves in jobs by making sure that only others as dim witted as them get roles in the media.

How did Ally get through the security checks on Gersnet? Nice to hear from you Ally.
-
That's fair enough, but I don't want to watch that "style" of football for the next 3 years. I'd rather give Murty the job. There are plenty of areas he has to develop, but he at least has the team playing some decent football too. Maybe DM can achieve that with better players. I hope so, otherwise this next 3 years is going to be painful to watch, even if we're winning.

Thanks for posting that Ian, and very interesting to hear him speak about Walter Smith in particular. He seemed to be serious when he said they'd spend 5 minutes at most on shape and tactics. Walter just told them "to go and play and win the game". That's astonishing, but it shows what sort of football education Mccoist had. Perhaps then unsurprising that Ally was not so great in modern day management.

It depends on what you mean by inspiring. It doesn't have to be a big name. I liked us taking a chance on MW and PC, and I personally thought they were inspiring. Just because they didn't work out doesn't mean that we should stop taking chances on unknown managers with fresh ideas.
-
I was already feeling uninspired by the prospect of DM, but then I saw this. If BF really does come back in such a role, I'm just going to be speechless. I have no idea what he brings tactically, and his professionalism is seriously in question. Please please please don't have this happen to my club. Many seem to think that having "Rangers men" involved at the club is the answer. However, the reason these Rangers men were preferred in days gone by is because they knew what the club stood for, and exhibited those attributes. It stood for respect, discipline, hard work and class. It's so frustrating to see these important attributes of the club being killed off. I've made no secret of the fact that I liked PC because he had many (but not all) of these qualities. I'm desperate for the next manager to have these too. I think Murty could be a good manager for us and I'd like him to be given the chance but he doesn't appear to me to have the strength and discipline, at least not based on what I've seen so far. If we bring Barry back, what does that say about what we value? He and Miller will get on just great though. They can share Machiavellian tactics and within 18 months they can both be running the show. They can later write a book "Undermining your manager ... for dummies".

I'm sure Pogba would have used that same logic at the weekend. "How can you send me off for just running? It wasn't my fault I stepped on his legs." Let's be clear here. I'm hoping he gets the red card rescinded, and I really hope a review panel sees what many of you see. However, I don't like players using these excuses for getting away with this. Players have their ways of dishing it out, while disguised as innocent and natural actions. IMO of course.
-
This would have made my physics classes at high school much more interesting and relevant Pete. We really do get technical over here on Gersnet sometimes don't we?!?
-
Notwithstanding our differences in opinion over the red card, it will be very interesting to see what happens if this one was rescinded. I think the 'authorities' would be opening themselves up to ridicule and accusation if they overturn another one. I'd love to see the comments on Kerrydale if it is though. That would be great entertainment. If we appeal and win, then surely there is a strong case for proving over-zealous (let's just call it that for now) refereeing towards us. Has there ever been a circumstance like this before where so many red cards are overturned? I can't remember when the appeals process was introduced but this must be some sort of record already. I also think there's a problem with the review panel too. When you see tackles like those on Tav and Holt, it makes me mad that we can't punish that properly retrospectively. Surely the point of the review panel is to ensure justice is done as far as cards and suspensions is concerned. If a referee gives even a free kick, apparently there is nothing that can then be done about it. That just doesn't make sense in my book.
-
Those were both shockers. The second one was a red card, and I can't believe what the ref thought justified anything else. The first one should also have been red because as soon as you have two feet off the ground like that, you cannot possibly be in control and that is therefore a reckless and red card offence. The first one seems not to be punished with red cards as often as it should do. I see more and more players doing this now, but refs are going to have to be strict about it. The second one is a leg breaker. The first one can cause the end of someone's career.
-
They're only human I suppose. I see it at youth level all the time. You'll get some players who abuse refs from the first whistle. You just know they'll take any opportunity to send that player off. I think I'd do the same, which is why I'd probably be a poor ref too. As for Clattenberg, I thought he was a prat the way he spoke to players. I think this is him trying to claim some profound thinking when in actual fact he just bottled it.
-
I wonder if the comms between the refs and linesmen are recorded, or reviewed? I very rarely see refs consulting with the linesmen. Equally though, I wonder if linesmen prefer to turn a blind eye to things so they don't receive more abuse themselves. What I'd like (and think it would help honest refs) is to have their comms broadcastable so we could hear these discussions and interactions with players, etc. We'd then hear them explain to players what they saw and why they called it as they did. Perhaps the foul language on the pitch prevents them from doing that.
-
Fair enough. We both just saw it differently. As I said earlier though, he's already building a reputation and there are things he can do to remediate that. I just hope he's getting that help and 'advice' from his colleagues. We need him playing and I don't want him suspended for too many games.
-
Very poor refereeing. McLean should have been sent off for that - no question. But it doesn't negate the fact that Jack was malicious too for his red card. Anyone that's ever played the game (at any level) knows he did this deliberately, but used the 'excuse' of momentum to try to get away with it. We need to get Jack to change his ways here or he's going to spend a lot of time suspended. I've no problem with our club abusing the system to get the red card rescinded, but I really hope Murty or someone else is privately giving him pelters and a strong warning.
-
There is no question the media has a big part to play in this, and we are definitely suffering in that regard. In recent times, a referee will know (when faced with a difficult decision) that they will receive more scrutiny and abuse if they make a call in Rangers' favour, so perhaps it is just natural to have that bias and give decisions the other way. As you said coop, a lot of it will be subconscious. On many other decisions, I can equally see why referees have such a difficult job. Even in one incident yesterday (Jack's red card) we had two contrasting opinions on here. I thought it was an easy red card, while others saw it as a hard but fair challenge. I can also understand when a team is getting the benefit when playing at home, because the crowd can affect a referee's decisions also. BUT, it's so important to remember this. The performance by that referee against Hibs was absolutely blatant. There can be no one who could argue against that. For me, this is evidence that there is something sinister. The question is whether that was just one bad apple acting on his own in an isolated incident, or is there something wider?
-
I think any team could pull together their own videos to show injustices and inconsistencies, and indeed Celtic fans were excellent at it during our years of domination. I had never subscribed to the sinister claims of many, and I must admit that I think many poor decisions are just simply because many referees are not good enough. Having said that, the refereeing at that Hibs game earlier this season was a blatant display of cheating/manipulation. There's no way those were honest mistakes.
-
Indeed Pete. I am also interested to see what happens here. The easy way to stop the rebellion was to start playing Miller again, and there's no doubt is has returned the harmony, but he just shouldn't be playing. I like Murty, but it was a huge mistake playing Miller (despite him scoring) on his first game in charge. To be fair to Murty though, Mark Allen has enough experience to know this, and I'm disappointed in our CEO too for not stepping in to sort this out. Even if the problem with PC was more than Miller, they should have got rid of Miller before, or shortly after, PC went. Or maybe they all wanted to give Murty the chance to show he can manage difficult dressing room situations. Perhaps Murty was so desperate to show he could reunite the team (because let's face it, he really wants the job) that he took the simple option rather than the correct one. For me, Murty could be a good manager but he needs to demonstrate that strength and discipline himself. I'd personally give him a shot at it.
-
As I said, we will have to agree to disagree on this one. Either way, I'm sure we can all agree that Jack will have to find a way to stop incurring so many cards.
-
We will have to agree to disagree on this one. He did follow through deliberately in my opinion and deserved the red card. If it wasn't deliberate, it was still reckless and still a red.
-
Even wearing my blue tinted glasses, I thought that was an easy red card for the ref to give. Jack was stupid and he needs to sort out that side of his attitude. He could have lost us that match today. I expect either him or Ross to be the future captain so he really needs to show more composure. Great battling performance again today, and what a header from Wilson. To be fair it was a stunning free kick from them too. It's easy to criticise Fods, but I don't think there was much he could there.
