  1. That was a clear penalty for the clip on Morelos
  2. That's his trademark move to get rid of defenders. What a player he is .... so strong and quick. Al-Fred-o
  3. The damages clause of £1m is still in tact. There is nothing I've seen that changes that.
  4. I think your proposed team is spot on Frankie. I think we can scrape a win tonight, but I do think they'll score so we need our forward players on good form because they'll need to score at least 2 to get the 3 points. p.s. I didn't realise it was an earlier kick off so thanks very much for saving my evening of viewing. ???
  5. Just so you know, we've not had a costly kicking yet so this can't be "another" one. I'm not read in on the detail of this - only the lawyers will be, but I did read the previous judgements and I posted about them on here a few months ago. Just to be clear, the only costly kicking was the one the previous board gave us when they signed this deal with SD. Since then I think this board has done brilliantly in getting us into a position where we now profit from these sales. We have not escaped the clutches of SD yet but that time is coming within the next 18 months I'd imagine, and in the form of a final deal. At the moment various parts of judgements are going in our favour and then others in SD's favour. That's just normal in these types of circumstances, and certainly nothing that should be news worthy. This was always likely to rumble on in the background until a settlement is agreed, but because it's Rangers it's understandably of more interest to so-called journos and obviously for our fans given the recent times (where skepticism and mistrust is seen as a good thing). Here is what will happen ..... the cases will continue for a few months more, until both sides agree that a settlement is the best way forward. I know there are some who believe tha SD will not settle, but they will. Lawyers use the courts to wear away some terms of the contract in the hope that it will strengthen their hand when's it comes to the final settlement. All of these individual court appearances are about preparing for the inevitable final settlement. I bet both sides know what the final settlement is likely to be and could probably agree it tomorrow, but unfortunately that's not how lawyers work and therefore advise their clients. They build their strongest case to justify a particular sum of money (or other conditions) and then when the other side does the same, they then negotiate into the final sum. It's a waste of everyone's time, money and effort, but until someone can change the way this works, we are stuck with it. Afterall, these poor lawyers need to earn some money somehow. The final settlement will be somewhere between Rangers' offer of zero, and SD's claim that it will be "millions". The simple fact is that the current cap of £1m in damages still exists and unless they successfully challenge that in the courts, that's the maximum. I think it's unlikely that it will be overturned, despite SD's strong arguments in the previous round. I'm quite sure they know it's unlikely too. This leads me to believe that the final settlement will be around £500k. This is purely my opinion based on years of experience so take it or leave it, but I don't think I'll be far wrong. Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst! So having said that, even if this turned out to be up to £2m (which is highly unlikely), Rangers are still in a much better position financially than we would have been before these challenges. What we were faced with previously was a disgrace and I still wish we had taken criminal proceedings out against the previous board. That being said, the sooner we get this settled the sooner we can put all of that period behind us for good. Afterall, our board has got title winning parties to arrange and that should be the focus!
  6. The only way we could make this MotM any more difficult is if Frankie had added their keeper to the list. I don't know about you guys but I thought he was brilliant. He made 4 outstanding saves, but that one he kept out from Stewart's header was one of the best saves I've ever seen. It takes a lot for me to praise someone from their team especially, but credit where it's due. He saved them from even greater humiliation.
  7. I realise we all rate players differently, but in my opinion we'd never get more than 500k (and that's pushing it) for Wes, regardless of it being last summer or this one. He's a decent keeper and I'm glad we've kept him as our backup for this season. He isn't good enough as our main keeper but when he goes he will be fondly remembered for his services to the club.
  8. Davis, Stewart, Barisic and Arfield all played brilliantly and I wouldn't argue with anyone who selected any of them, but for me Alfie is just that class above them these days. He single handedly seems to occupy (or rather terrorise) their back line. At times yesterday they had 3 players on him to try to close him down, tackle him, and wind him up, and yet he'd still come away with the ball, or in many instances win the foul. His turn of pace has improved, as has his link up play, and this now makes him so unpredictable to play against. We all really need to enjoy watching this guy for the time we have him, because on these performances it won't be long before he gets his big money move. What a player!
  9. Superb Rangers. Thanks for starting my weekend in the best way possible. Ya beauty!!!
  10. Any chance none of you noticed me calling Stewart a backup player in the chat earlier this week? If you did, can we just forget I said that? He's playing his way into the first eleven today. What a performance!
  11. I'm sure we will both be even more delighted with 6-0
  12. If only I'd gone for a 5-0 win today in the prediction league .......... oh wait a minute ...... I did ?
  13. Great second goal by Stewart, but also credit where it's due ..... that initial save from their keeper was world class ??????
  14. If we get another goal before half time, we might have a decent score line in this game. We look really up for this while Aberdeen look shocked at the pace we are playing at.
  15. There's appears to be a lot of humbug about this deal, but I applaud the club for trying to get into new markets. All it takes is for one of these countries to take off and we make a lot of money and publicity from it. It costs almost nothing and is worth the risk. I'm surprised we are criticising the board for their ambition in this regard.
  16. That's a lovely video. It's brilliant to see a young bear sing his wee heart out like that and such a nice touch by the club to invite them in to Ibrox. The media team does a much better job on things like this these days.
  17. This is an excellent idea. Football is growing very quickly in India so it would be a terrific deal if we can penetrate that market there.
  18. I wish the Union Bears hadn't made that statement. They really need to be better advised when deciding when and what to say. There are no safe pyrotechnics in a crowded stadium. I accept these are unlikely to kill anyone but all it's really easy for these to burn others around you and they know this, so why make such a silly statement?!? By making a statement at all this actually associates them with the incident which again was a mistake. As for the idiot(s) who did cause this incident, I would hope they've been caught by now if indeed we do know who did it. We don't want morons like this coming to our games, home or away. You have to wonder what goes through someone's mind when they do this sort of thing. We clearly have some supporters who lack the ability to think at all.
  19. I understand your point @der Berliner but I don't think we should be playing our 'lesser' players just so they get game time. It is up to them to improve so that they deserve a place in the starting eleven. I think last night showed the importance of us playing a strong team, and it was no game to try to get players match fit. Murphy is a backup player and although I liked him, I hope he doesn't have to play because that means that we've lost our better players to suspensions or injury. Ojo in my opinion is an important and dangerous player and I'd want him to play ahead of Murphy and Stewart regardless of terms in a loan agreement with Liverpool.
  20. Gerrard handled that question about Klopp brilliantly. It ended the prospect of any further questions about it. I did then laugh at the way the Penalty taker question was directed at Tav. He also diffused it by laughing and confirming he's had stick about his miss.
  21. I agree with you @Frankie that only Morelos and BB did their jobs well last night. I also went for Borna because he looked eager to get on the ball again and seems to be more positive when he has it these days. Long may that continue.
  22. I realise the management team didn't want to make the pitch an excuse, but there's no doubt it plays very differently and Livi used it to their advantage. We were poor though and there's no getting away from that. We had some very nice spells but in our eagerness to speed the game up we made too many bad decisions, in particular Ojo who knew he was playing poorly and that just spiralled for him. By the end he looked like he was relieved it was over. However it's job done again and as @Bill said, we would have lost that game last season so any win is welcomed. I think it's worth also commending Livi who worked really hard tonight. That's one of (if not THE) fittest displays (in terms of amount of running) I've seen from any team we've played against in the last year at least. Their levels of fitness were amazing and as we say often, if they did that against all teams they'd be in a good position at the end of the season. Like all the teams though, they'll save this effort for their games against us and our players need to realise that.
  23. My favourite goal of his was against Kiev (I think). He looked like he was trying to guide the ball with his head into the far corner but the ball hits the other side of his head and totally puts the goalie off. Not a spectacular strike but an example of how lucky he was too. I'm so glad we are getting back to remembering Super Ally for the goal machine he was rather than more recent times in management.

    Penalty rule

They can interpret the penalty rule whichever way they want, but when that handball on Sunday stops being a stick on penalty then we might as well abolish them altogether. I've no idea what Dallas was thinking. Maybe he lost concentration and was thinking about his Sunday dinner rather than watching the game. Whatever the reason he'll be embarrassed about it now. It was so bad that apparently even Sutton was saying it's the most stonewall penalty you'll see.
  25. At this rate Jack will have won player of the season by Christmas. He's in terrific form and long may it continue. To continually get my MotM when others are scoring such great goals and playing well just shows how good this guy has become. I didn't imagine it did I? Last season he was good but not great? Is that what you guys saw too? What a player though this season!
