gersnet article (image) Player Ratings and MotM Poll: Hearts v Rangers
Gaffer replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
Again, this thread is another example of how differently we see things. I thought Goldson and Barisic would be the only two contenders and yet not only are some of you picking others, but you criticise Goldson's performance. And then we have Gerrard seeing something different again because he seems to continue to pick Arfield and Tav despite them have howling starts to this season. It's a game of opinions right enough. -

We didn't play well against Hearts, but the simple fact is that they didn't threaten us other than those first few minutes. If we hadn't gifted them that goal we would have cruised it, even with a 1-0 margin. It was the same against Celtic. We actually weren't in danger in that game despite not playing well. Again, two gifted goals sealed our fate in that game. And of course the only other game we've lost is in Europe with yet another gifted goal. And what's the common factor in each of those games we lost? ... Tavernier gifting the goals, and not because of bad luck or mistimed tackle. Each one was a state of brain freeze where he appears to completely lose concentration. I like Tav but it's clear to everyone that he's costing us big games and he needs to be dropped. If he's got the strength of character required to captain Rangers, he'll be back soon enough to his best. Gerrard has everyone on his side but he really needs to demonstrate that he can make these necessary difficult decisions when required. Even if Pollster and Flanagan are not as good as Tav they must be given the chance, otherwise it causes the other players to question the manager and he can't afford that. I would drop him for Porto. The Europa league just isn't as important but it would be a huge statement that no one is undroppable. If the manager doesn't drop him, I fear that many fans, including myself, will begin to lose respect for our captain and the manager for that matter. I may get stick for saying that but I can't help feeling like that and I know I'm not alone. -

Tav probably deserves more chances because he's the captain but Gerrard really needs to send a signal to the squad that no one is bigger than the team and he has to drop Tav for the next game. I don't see any signals that Tav is suffering from a crisis of confidence. If he was I could understand Gerrard giving him multiple chances. He's just complacent and that will have a damaging effect on the others around him if he keeps his place. I was annoyed at McGregor in that game because he allowed his frustration with Tav to show through and it looked like he was deliberately making the riskier pass out to Barisic almost to make a statement that he would rather do that than send it out to Tav. I understand he's frustrated but that petulance needs to be dealt with too. On a brighter note it was good to see Kent back. I'd now like to see him and Ojo supporting Morelos because Arfield is another who is not performing to his standard this season. -

There was no danger there until that balls up. I'm really annoyed with Tav these days. That's another one that is just a case of him not thinking. I can accept a lack of luck or a misattemp at doing the right thing but he's making absolute howlers these days. His positioning there was terrible, otherwise he'd be running forward onto that. Grrrr. -
The Spring & Summer 2019 Transfer Rumours Thread
Gaffer replied to der Berliner's topic in Rangers Chat
By saying mythical, he's clearly used the wrong word, but my biggest problem with him is when he talks about "Celtic" and then "Rangers" after it. Even when we play away from home, it's always Rangers first. I would have hoped his family would have educated him properly in that regard. Having said that, if he's a hot prospect, I'd take him even if he was Celtic's biggest fan. We'd soon convert him. -
Great goal. For such a big lad he's got very quick feet. That's just added a few more millions onto his value now. I bet Bowyer feels even more stupid now, not that I care what he thinks. Keep it going young man, you've got the world at your feet, literally.

The usual cretins at the BBC and the SFA decided King was not fit and proper as soon as he put us in a position to challenge their beloved Celtic. Get it right up them. I doubt they'll want to create problems though because it might then result in the limelight turning to the Celtic board too and their skeletons.

Better to wait and buy the "55" DVD for his next Christmas.

It's difficult for Club 1872 these days because the original purpose (at least my understanding of it) was to buy enough shares to help protect the club from future disasters. It is unlikely that we will ever have enough, and as the club's fortunes improve it becomes even less likely that enough people will contribute. It's time Club 1872 therefore reflects on its purpose. I'll be happy to continue to put money into it and have a group of fans decide how best that money is spent. Funding events like these are important and worthwhile but I agree that members' expectations need to be managed better to avoid frustration or worse.

I appreciate that King doesn't want to challenge this, but the ToP will now get away with mismanaging this case. I know this forum is about Rangers, but as someone who wants to be able to place reliance on the ToP for integrity in other cases I am left very annoyed and frustrated. And as a tax payer, this has been a complete waste of time, money and resources which could have been better redirected elsewhere. Back on topic though, it's good to draw a line under this but contrary to what too many commentators were opining, this was never going to cause the club problems. And for what it's worth, I don't know any fans now who think King is doing this for anything other than the "love of the club". There's no doubt he saved the club, and although we will understandably continue to scrutinise everything the board does, we will forever be grateful for what he's done.

There are so many features on RTV that are great to watch now. The interviews are great (both the fun ones like "ready for anything" and more serious), but the behind the scenes ones are now my favourite. RTV is well worth the money. Like Pete, I'm abroad a lot so the full package is such good value because it includes the games. I've said it plenty of times before but there is only one way to watch the Rangers on TV and that's via RTV with Tom commentating. I feel my blood boiling listening to the other commentators on other channels so I limit my exposure to that as much as possible.

gersnet article (image) Player Ratings and MotM Poll: Rangers v Hamilton
Gaffer replied to Rousseau's topic in Rangers Chat
Defoe or Stewart could have taken it for me, but I've gone for Edmundson. He wasn't under any pressure but everything he did was excellent. I'm really going to enjoy watching thistle boy turn into a superstar and yesterday was the start of it for me. He's big (absolutely huge in fact), he's got tremendous pace, and can pick out a pass. Basically he's got everything except experience. P.s. I noticed that McGregor is in the man of the match poll, but was he even playing?!? -
Agree @Rousseau, we have an absolute star in the making with Edmundson. It wouldn't surprise me if he became a world star. He's got every attribute you could ever need and want in a centreback. His pace is outstanding, and his strength ..... well it's actually just embarrassing when you see him ease other large men off the ball. I'm loving watching him. He's got loads to learn but I just feel we've got the management team to make him the star he can be.

The gaffer will smell rotten fish in his car thIs morning. ? What a player he was, and I'm so pleased to see him looking so well. A few months ago I was thinking he wouldn't be around for much longer but he seems in great form and that's a relief. Is he here for the legends game? There's no one safe from his antics in that dressing room (and beyond) if he's in there. Some of the stories from his time with us are hilarious, but he did it all and still managed to be of the best players in the world at the time.

I did say in my earlier post that I'm NOT saying this based on last night's performance, but rather because he's been poor in many games this season. Also, I did say it depends on what the reason is. I think he's looking full of confidence, but not full of concentration which is why I've said this about him in particular. -

Gaffer replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
It depends what the problem is. If he's having a crisis of confidence, then yes I completely agree we should should support him by backing him in the team. If he's becoming lackadaisical then he needs to be dropped, and that should the best way to support his longer term future. -

Gaffer replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
It's a fair point Ian. It just depends on how the other players will see it. Others are dropped if they make mistakes but he isn't. As you all know, I really like Tav but he does need some motivation or consequence, otherwise where is the incentive to improve. Of course I'm seeing it as him lacking focus, hence the need for intervention, but if he isn't just the type of player who will make terrible mistakes now and again, and we are to accept that, then that's fine I suppose. In a way it'll be like Morelos last season. We need him, but just accept it'll cause us big problems every now and then. -

This poll surprised me. I thought everyone would go for Morelos, but it just shows what we all see. Jack was great too as usual but Morelos just bossed their defence, and his goal was a cracker. I'm surprised that Frankie even put Tav on there, but just as well, so that Compo could register his protest vote. There's no doubt the opposition would vote for him as their best player. This is a test of his mental strength now, and a test of the manager's resolve. Tav needs to be dropped, not because of last night, but because of a very poor start to the season. -

Shocker!!!! There's nothing else you can say about that. -
I think we need to be careful when we take extracts of judgements. For some reason you've missed the first part of what the judge said. He said "If relevant, I am satisfied that the .....". That's no doubt recognising the fact that there is a clause which limits the damages. So, Rangers' position is that this is NOT relevant, whereas SD will be claiming it is. Again though I'm only taking extracts which is dangerous because it loses the overall context. My point however is that for some reason too many people want to portray this either in a negative or a positive light. I'm trying to just state facts. p.s. For what it's worth though, I agree with the point about Blair.
