I did my time in the trenches home, away and in Europe in the 70's too mate. Those were far different days. Provocation is no defence in a court case. But one thing I would say is, the authorities should be striking an award to the Rangers fans for the constraint they showed that day rather than subjecting them to enquiry and trial by prejudiced madia.

“Hun” and “Jock” not considered offensive by Ofcom
boabie replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
Not for me scot. Jock = sweaty sock. I wouldn't stand for that from anybody. -
I don't think so coop. He hasn't been charged with anything so his case as far as I'm aware, isn't "live". Also, reading the DR article I don't see anything which would affect his trial if it happens in the future. As to who told the DR - there are thousands of them, all no doubt wearing green and grey while hammering out their bile to the internet.

“Hun” and “Jock” not considered offensive by Ofcom

If someone wants to call me a Jock or a hun they shouldn't be surprised if they receive a slap for their trouble - no matter what Ofcom say. -
Trying to be honest Bearman, until I read the reports here I had never even heard of Barton. Hardly surprising though since I don't take any interest of English football. But the whole world knew who Gazza was. Yes he was flawed and we all knew that. My main concern at the time was he was coming from Italy because his legs had gave out again and we were the only mugs willing to pay him the wage he thought he was worth. I'm in no way ashamed to say I was wrong. Gazza proved me wrong in a very short time. I've seen nothing from Barton yet suggesting that so-called damaged goods are worth taking the risk on him. Naturally I'll be delighted to put my hands up if proven to be a diddy yet again.

I remember going to their midden in the 60's and being totally startled by the fact their "saltire", flown as league winners, was green rather than blue. I asked my dad why they were not flying the flag of the country they played in. Later the green, white and orange flags raised other questions.
-
That was a civil case as far as I'm aware Rab. He hasn't faced any criminal trial yet.

I'm an old salty seadog RS. At sea it is not being used as a national flag, rather as a signal flag. I used to have the signal flags for my initials embroidered onto my dress shirts.
-
Saltires were waved in the majority at Ibrox before the trouble started in Ireland. The Union Flag took over after that time. Probably the rise of the SNP sees it perceived by some as being somewhat toxic at our stadium - certainly I got criticised by a couple of fellow bears for taking one to a euro match a few years ago. I waved a saltire with "Rangers FC" across it at Ibrox from 1961 onwards. It also went to Wembley with me 4 internationals in a row.
-
I think you're maybe confusing the Saltire with the Royal Standard Pete. I believe permission is required for the monarchs flag to be flown.
-
You did indeed see a Saltire being waved at their match. I noticed it myself. It's probably allowed now due to the manks being the standard bearers for every "persecuted minority". Protest against Westminster will be reason enough for that mob.

Bluebear54's GPL 2016/17: Rangers v Partick Thistle

Rangers 4-0. FGS Wallace. -
Becasue I know so little about some of the candidates and absolutely nothing about most [with one exception who would definitely NOT be getting my vote] I've left my votes to my son in law who'll do them at the same time he does his own.
-
I didn't vote either.

I think they will go for Wenger. It'll cost them plenty though. But let's face it, a very large pay packet goes with that job no matter who takes it.
-
Have or will club 1872 said anything about this ? This is exactly what I support them for so expect some sort of statement. Similarly, because there are some amongst its members who lost out during the Whyte, Green, etc capers I think they have an ideal opportunity to call for updates from the Crown office about the ongoing court case shambles. I'd guarantee that if it was the manks in our position they wouldn't have it off the front pages of the press.

Not if you believe the tarred one. He was wittering on last week about Kennedy tying up with Ashley.

Mark Warburton facing SFA charge over furious rant at referee
boabie replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
I'm reading via the newsnow link that sellik fans are "reacting furiously" at the SFA's double standards where "Warburton s offered a one match ban while Lennon got a 6 match ban." http://www.footballinsider247.com/celtic-fans-react-twitter-mark-warburton-ban-recall-neil-lennons-suspension/? Why do these foools continue to rewrite history ? Lennon got offered a 2 match ban but choose to fight his case. He lost and got a 6 match ban later reduced to 4 on appeal. Also conveniently forgotten are the other two reports where he escaped with no punishment at all. The afrementioned also says nothing about events leading up to the referees going out on strike. -
Most definitely, should Man City hand out the horsing I expect.
-
Does anyone think the outcome would have been the same if it was our fans who invaded the park, assaulted players, challenged the opposition fans to fight, ripped up the turf and destroyed a set of goalposts ? No. I didn't think so.

I may be wrong here mate but I don't think it's possible to appeal a yellow card. Only red.
