  1. Today came the best made up story yet that the manks can dream up -

Our players can get a roll out of a dairy in Milngavie and put it on the club tab.

Some declan went in to his barbers and was told that the dairy have put a sign up in the window saying Rangers owe him £600 so no more rolls. :bouncy2:

I didn't think they could get any worse after last weeks 'diverting water from a local church' and being sent a £2 million bill when found out.

  2. Rumour, speculation and lies are diseases infecting the internet. Especially when we are the subject.

The tarred one has a blog where we didn't play O'Halloran on Sunday because there is a clause in his contract that triggers a payment to his former club if he makes so many appearances. Naturally we don't have any money. Oh, and Senderos has the same and wasn't playing for the same reason. 2 or 3 games played and a clause kicks in. :seal:

  3. Let's think of the travelling fans for once and get this moved to Jan 2. Thousands of bears from all over the UK will struggle to get home and should we win it curtails the celebrations when most have to get home for their traditional family Hogmanay parties.

Doesn't bother me at all either way, but, just for once, let's put fans first.

The fans have put up with games on Monday and Friday nights for ages T.

It's too late now for the fans to ask for consideration.

  4. I definitely don't think it should be moved to suit publicans which is what this is about.

Do we seriously believe that in Scotland alcohol abuse on Hogmanay is down to an old firm game? A lot less alcohol will be consumed on Hogmanay if this game is moved to another date? Or might it be the case that just as much alcohol will be consumed as would be even if there were no OF game and moving it to another date for another pay day is preferable to pub owners?

Because hey on another day there will be less alcohol abuse wont there? And since when did publicans ever care about alcohol abuse? It's like saying tobacco companies care about the health risks of smoking.

Waterson Jnr has a very short memory when he forgets about how his dad made his money selling slops to drunks. Also, he's never out of the media shoving some agenda or other. Really, with his attitude he'd be better getting a job he liked doing. I took a dislike to the guy 5 minutes after meeting him and swore I'd never be back in one of his pubs ever again.

  5. The minimum requirement is top 3 to get into the EL. Anything else totally unacceptable

I think we all agree what the minimum requirement is Rab. But have we shown anything so far suggesting that is achievable ?

In my opinion some of those the manager has placed his faith in are either going to have to get themselves fit and ready or begin to recognise what the managers plan is and work to it.

If that doesn't happen I think top 3 will be beyond us. We've some very difficult matches to come.

  6. Let's see how the next few games go but like Boabie I have maintained a top 6 is a must and top 3 a bonus.

I believe that decisions on signings etc. are made at board level to oversee costs and although MW can be assumed to identify signings it is then out of his hands.

Regards potential managers we should not be going down that road for at least two years.

To clarify Mac - I was saying a top 6 was the best we could hope for. Not that we'd finish 6th , but that that's all we would get.

If some of those we signed recently shook off whatever niggles they have or quite simply gave themselves a shake and produced what we expected, we may even get a top 3. But nothing I've seen so far suggests a punt on it. Even worse, some of last years star players look to be going off the boil at the same time.

  7. I made the mistake of flirting with FF when we went down to the Third Division. It was all "nae bother troops, only four years and the European nights will be back."

We are surely among the greatest supports in world football, but perspective and patience have never been among our virtues.

At least you know where you made your mistake Noris. I'd think about half of the posters over there couldn't find Ibrox with a sat nav.

  8. The reaction has been quite depressing. Did most really think we'd be competing with Celtic for the title this year?

A couple of months ago I took some stick for suggesting a top six place. I very much hope that I was wrong but does anyone see anything that says that's all we could bank on ? Injuries, marque arrivals not doing what was hoped, referee decisions, etc , etc - they've always been there. They didn't arrive at the start of this season.

I live in hope that all will pick up post criminal trial when ownership issues maybe make finance clearer and lead to open investment.

  9. In todays game I saw some positives and negatives.

At set pieces we defended much better than we've done for years.

The downside is our passing and ball control in general. While agreeing we're now playing teams with slightly better capabilities, I'm seeing guys in our team who look like their ball control skills are now being coached by Kenny Miller.

I'm not disheartened by the result. We're heading in the right direction . It'll just take a bit longer.

  10. It's here! Just over 3 hours to go. I'm stuck in the Karzy at the moment, went a bit overboard on the vegetables last night, going to weigh myself when I get off here ha ha!!

Going to head to Hampden about noon. Let's get right in about them bears!. WATP!

I've a heid like a stairheid after a concert last night. A couple of wee low flyers will see a recovery though. :sneaky:

  11. Did Tommy Docherty not say at some time he was going to build the team around big DJ at centre-half? Martin Buchan was also a good player but big Tam was different class.

I would say Martin Buchan and Dave Smith were similar kind of players although I am biased and would say big Dave was better.

Buchan, imo, like many of the Anglos in Scotland shirts at that time didn't show a tenth of the ability he possessed as a club player. In saying that, he showed more than Rioch or Masson ever did playing for the national side.

Docherty was a well know balloon. My mum was in his class at school. My dad obviously kicked with the other foot and detested the man as a human being.

  12. You make your own luck as they say, but the same as any other game we play that mob - the referee will have a huge say in how things pan out.

The obsessives will moan whatever the result simply because that's what they do. I just hope we have no cause to complain.

Last match I thought up to a point in the match we were unlucky, but with our usual defensive faults on display. The fact they ended up with a convincing scoreline doesn't scare me in the slightest. It's happened before and was turned around next fixture.

I'd re-arrange the defence and set Tavernier loose on them.

  13. Don't know if I would fancy that walk along Vicky road Boabie lol. Running the gauntlet more like!

The alternative - follow the Queens Park fence past Viccy Rd along to Pollokshaws Road and pop into the New Regent.
