  1. Only in special circumstances should we be signing players over 30 years old.

We need to have a squad of players with each with resale values

Especially when we were fed on the promise of youngsters being grazed, fed and sold leading to club income when sold.

Then again, maybe that was the media touching our erses up yet again.

I for one was disappointed when Barton appeared on our radar. There was absolutely no need for a challenge this season.

  2. Remember it's okay having so called big resources that can attract and pay players but when wholesale changes are made to the squad of course it will take time to gel.

As long as we do not take these three steps forward then two back things might keep improving.

As I see it Mac, once Whytes trial is over, the actual ownership of Rangers is established and, full, open and wide investment begins, my one fear is that we may well slip back to the Advocaat days of signing to get one single goal.

My hope at the start with Warburton was that we'd see youngsters appear in short time after his arrival.

  3. I blame it all on the "9-in-a-row" generation. Those who have had no idea what it has been like to be brought up in barren times :ninja:

No divine right to win any game. We came from a division below, replaced almost a whole squad and still plenty expected us to not only be comfortably in second (which we actually are now, and playing well enough) but there were also many who thought that we could actually challenge for the league immediately (that particular expectation is an unfortunate side effect of having beaten them in the SC semi and has hindered us in a sense).

Craig, I was but a child when I saw Baxter and Co dominate. I then lived through the manks running amok. Our own 9 in a row squads took over later and I loved every second of it despite working abroad for much of it.

What should be remembered is, these things go in cycles. I couldn't care less if the manks win 15 in a row - we'll equal it eventually.

  4. They wouldn't have got near Rangers if they'd been 3rd Division, they're much more astute than that, conning people after all is their day job.

A couple of Directorship bans and a bankruptcy order are but a mere irritation in the life of a conman.

Being honest, I think Murray would have sold to the devil. He tried Ellis but knew the fans wouldn't buy that one. The useful idiot Whyte was then wheeled in and thanks to some media juggling was accepted.

There will be a book out in a couple of years at the latest examining the history of the main players and their involvement , before, during and post Rangers. I've seen some of the work. Believe me - they are third rate conmen and no more.

Without Murray none of it would have happened and that's the reason they got away with alleged criminal acts.

I also believe the case will not finish with Whyte. There will be twitchy bums even today.

  5. "Although they are still playing well, losing at Ibrox - where they played well but were beaten - has had an adverse effect. That puts pressure on the players and the manager and how do they handle that pressure? "

Yes Willie, but "playing well" doesn't mean you deserved to win. Also, how about the game at Pittodrie where your team also "played well" but not as well as the side who lost the match ?

It's another, if your auntie had baws argument. Abersheep will raise their game against Rangers and maybe steal a couple of points but the simple fact is, now that Rangers are back in the top division, your mob will go back to scrapping for a Euro place.

  6. If you think Whyte is in penury then you're mistaken. People of his ilk seldom play with their own money when there's enough fools in the world to let them play with theirs.

Ahmad and Green were both multi-millionaires before they tied up with Whyte and most certainly still are.

It has, I think been proven that Whyte wasn't playing with his own money. He required, thanks to Murray, a quid to buy Rangers. His trial will determine exactly how much more he had in his wallet.

As to Ahmad and Green - are we back to believing "wealth off the scale" stories from the Record or similar ?

They are another two no-marks who had to cozy up to Whyte to look at picking another pocket.

I'll repeat mate - another couple of third division conmen. Unheard of financially until the name of Rangers appeared.

  7. Can some one please clarify just why Butcher is not accepted by so many bears when he played for us for good number of years with such distinction?

Butcher hasn't had a good word to say about our club since 5 seconds after he got his last wage packet from us.

At Hamilton as always he concentrated on every single negative he could see in our play.

I met him once at Ibrox and would hope I get another chance - just to let him know what I think of him now.

  8. I never wanted Warburton sacked but was very critical of him and personally I think he deserved a lot of criticism. He refused to change a system that was failing badly. It had been failing since we won the league last season. He missed a massive chance to get us into Europe and miss a cash cow. We are not a country mile behind Celtic because Celtic are that much better than us. we are that far behind Celtic because we could not beat Hamilton, Ross County St Johnstone Aberdeen Hearts etc. We have played 2 excellent games in a row now against our nearest rivals and it has gone with Warburton changing the system with Tavernier giving the midfield an extra boost. Then there was the Barton saga. Warburton looks far from convincing in that diabolical situation. There is no room for people getting on their high horses calling people screamers. Warburton deserved criticism whether Davy Wier or anyone else thinks so or not.

I think you must also take into consideration the new players fitting into the system we'd been playing with, the fact that some were injured or not at peak fitness too Pete.

We'd a couple who were absolute disasters in their first match which couldn't have helped with confidence.

I'd prefer to think that the manager saw what was going on and DECIDED to change how we played rather than being forced into it.

  9. Who made millions or tens of millions out of us.

Apart from LBG nobody made tens of millions - and that money came from Ticketus.

Millions were syphoned off but apart from Whyte who was initially playing a game of trying to balance his Visa bill, his lifestyle and repaying money he owed other deadbeat friends, none of the ****s you mentioned have a ha'penny between them.

They are the financial world equivalent of those cheap conmen who set up double glazing companies only to go burst the next year.

We keep hearing that Whyte has millions salted away. He's staying with a burd who has a posh address but he would not have got legal aid if he had any money.

Whyte is a complete dumpling who got caught for every wrong move he ever made.

Look to D&P if you want to know where the real money went. Once Whyte has been to court that one will come to the fore mate.

  10. [it is alleged] Whyte got hold of Rangers by fraud.

[it is alleged] Whyte and Green conspired to form Sevco 5088.

[it is alleged] Green stiffed Whyte to get control of the club.

It is a fact that Whyte formed Law Financial.

It is a fact that Law Financial was bought by Worthington. In return Worthington would "finance" an attempt to get money from BDO,etc.

If Whyte is found guilty he has no claim on anything to do with Rangers no matter what holding company ended up holding the keys.

Worthington have no claim as Law Financial is actually Whyte.

If Whyte wants to sue anybody his best chance of success is to go for Green.

  11. Every single word of the post is a complete load of garbage.

Earley, Whyte, Ellis, Law Financial, Worthington and everybody else quoted are part of a circle of penniless deadbeats who thrive on asset stripping, ambulance chasing, and fraud.

If any of the above named wish to seek redress for that statement then I absolve the owners of any forum where I made that statement.

In short, you are all a shower of cheap chiseling bassas barely worthy of the paper, ink or time to report your pathetic nonsense.

  12. The gall of this creature is mind boggling. So does this mean there is now no masquerade of ever having being someone who was only interested in the wellbeing of the club? Is this an admission that it was an attempted asset stripping con from day one?

Whyte looked to place the club into administration, go through the process and end up with a club free of debt owning a few millions of squad players, to say nothing of the material value of Ibrox and Auchenhowie.

He is facing charges of fraud. Even if found not guilty of that criminal charge there will be enough imo at civil law to ensure he doesn't get another penny from Rangers.

  13. Ralphie Brand signed as a schoolboy

Eric Caldow signed as a schoolboy

John Greig signed from Edina Hearts

Willie Henderson signed as a schoolboy

Sandy Jardine first game at 18

Willie Johnston signed from juniors at 17

    Just a few of hand.

I know we signed players who did well against us, but we were never slow at throwing youths into the first team.

I saw all of those guys play, but the period I refer to was the late 60's onwards CB.

  14. Been told that during lasts night commentary Butcher said words to the effect that Richard Gough always made sure he was suspended during the Xmas period so that he could go over to South Africa for a wee holiday. Anyone confirm this?

I'll confirm that's what he said.

  15. Look back even further, players came through in the 60s and became world class.

That is not my memory cb. Rangers boys club was ran by Aberdeen at one time and although we had a few players come through our own ranks I seem to recall a long period where we bought any player who'd given a reasonable showing when playing against us rather than relying on our own nursery.

  16. Aside from the Halliday slip up it bothered me too that Imrie appeared to be standing all alone in acres of empty space. Was he invisible?

What has to be remembered though JFK is that we were in possession at the time. I don't expect our players to mark the opposition when it's us who have the ball. The goal came from a dreadful mistake by Halliday. He was at fault and nobody else. When that goal went in I fully expected a draw from a game we should have won by at least 4.

I hope Halliday got his baws booted post match.
