  1. It's funny how things sometimes work out in football, with some players being unavailable as others come back; but this seems a trifle to convenient for my liking.

Hodson deserves to be the #1 choice at RB; we'll see on Wednesday if he's fit again but doubt he'll get past the bench.

Not sure what Waghorn has to do to get a game ahead of O'Halloran unless the latter is in the shop window again.

BH , I'd say that Waggy, apart from looking lazier and lazier with each passing game has done nothing to justify a start.

MOH is not the answer and I speak as someone who loved the way Waggy played earlier.

  2. Rangers bid accepted for former Newcastle keeper Jak Alnwick

Rangers have had a £250,000 bid for Port Vale keeper Jak Alnwick accepted, thus triggering his release clause in the player’s contract.

The 23 year-old is expected in Glasgow shortly to conclude a deal to bring him to Ibrox on what is thought to be a three-year deal.

Alnwick, who started his career at Newcastle United, is currently joint-captain at Port Vale. He is seen as a replacement for Matt Gilks, who was told he could leave the club with Wigan Athletic his likely destination.

According to the STV news on tv there, the bid was knocked back. Rangers met the release price but Port Vale say there are complications. Maybe Rangers requesting deferred payment or similar ? Maybe not offering enough wage ?

  3. Board meeting was yesterday as far as I'm aware King is a regular attendee at these.

As far as I'm aware King takes part in most board meetings via conference calls.

Unless there is something major in the wind there is no reason for him to attend meetings in person. Or perhaps King has family business here this time.

  4. interesting

was this planned all along or has he made a point of returning for some issue?

He's here to meet the rest of the board who have been offered all his shares at a price which is definitely going to bankrupt Rangers.

It's true. The tarred one assures me. Get your scarves onto Ebay guys. They'll be no use to you in another couple of weeks. :laugh2:

  5. Remember the score so well in fact I named a dog I got at that time Kai and used to enjoy shouting in the street for him to rile up the mhanks fans.

When he first came to us I remember his first name being listed as KAJ.

I can only surmise that somebody decided it would be pronounced as cadge so press released his name as KAI.

  6. It is baffling how it is well known but never mentioned. My wife's family had a boy that played for Celtic and under Torbett and they have said it was well known what was going on at the time. They have hoped the sands of time will have covered it up and sadly they might be right when we have such an incompetent / biased / agenda driven "media".

Stu, my younger brother had the chance to go there as well as a few other places. Being part of a child abuse sex ring was not part of the plan so was ruled out straight away. 2 other guys we knew were caught up unfortunately, although it took a while for us to discover those ones. It was as you say, well known at the time.

  7. Great player, probably my father's favourite.

Henderson developed bunions, at some point, which the old man put down to his fondness for wearing fashionable winklepicker shoes.

He was in the next hospital ward to my granny at Philipshill hospital . He went through a lot of pain post-op.

  8. Happy birthday Willie.

If any of you have been to a function where Willie is compering you will understand why he is such a "legend".

He's appearing as a speaker with McAvennie at a fundraiser for Johnstone Burgh soon.

Willie was hero of mine when I was a kid. A fantastic winger who chipped in with many a goal too.

  9. DJ sitting like a good little(or not so little) pet and, along with Keevins on Snyde. Inform us what a right old laugh it was and "any sensible person" would see the funny side!.

Imagine if that was Andy Cameron or Amy McDonald for example "celebrity gets fan in booze battle" would be a possible narrative?

Can someone tell me what's funny?? These are the same idiots that Spout their shite re Scotland's booze problem yet as it's good old Bhoy Roddy it's all a good laugh. Nobody else outside these shores would have taken such a positive reflection on a barely coherent drunken has been. Embarrassing is an understatement!

It's just the craic coop. You should know that by now. Rioting in the Netherlands and stabbings all around the world are down to the same thing.

  10. We could be doing with an Albertz/Fergie* type of midfielder who can shoot with power and accuracy from 20/30 yards out, we don't have that at all, when anybody tries it it usually ends up in row Z.

    (*the niar one)

This was the exact subject me and a few bears were discussing post match in our local.

  11. Always rated Miller and he is looking after himself well too....his goals were good and still looks like he did 5 years ago.

He is edging towards legendary status, a lot wont be having that but I would be putting him in there.

Sorry mate but his badge thumping while with the manks will never see that guy get legendary status from me.

I'll be honest here, I never had much time for Miller. The opening post gives an impressive list at first sight. Imo his total time at Rangers reads like a pretty poor return for what we paid him while he was wearing a Rangers jersey. Running around waving your arms and screwing up your face after yet another feck up doesn't mean you merit a clean jersey.

However - he took his 2 goals well at the weekend and for that I thank him.

  12. The problem with loan players is that the parent club holds all the aces.

If the player does well and the loanees club tries to buy the transfer value may well increase. Or the parent club may recall the player with a view to loaning elsewhere to gain further experience. Or the parent club may decide they've made a mistake & reinstate the player in its first team squad.

What we really need more than anything a global scouting system to identify young players with a view to selling them on at profit at a future date. Sadly whilst we're in Scottish football it will always be that way unfortunately. Hence why we always need to look at all other options whenever possible to get out

That was the scenario we were sold when Warburton arrived Rab. We were assured the scouting, coaching and training systems would be overhauled. It may lead to us becoming a selling club but the rewards would be there for all to see. So far I've watched a succession of no-marks arrive while what were told were our future head out the door.

As for getting out - that one imo just doesn't fly.

  13. Loan players are more often than not shite

I have to disagree slightly there GS. There are dozens of very promising young players tied up at Arsenal, etc who are a few months or a run of injuries or suspensions away from getting their chance in the big league.

Let's face it, if you'd paid £40 million for an internationalist, would you drop him to give a youngster a game ?

I'd agree if you proposed a loan player currently from a Scottish club but not some from a major English team.
