  1. And you have to ask why they closed Juninho's EBT. Did they know something we didn't ?

And I believe the timing of when HMRC chose to go after Rangers for the EBT's ( just before the 2010 General Election which Labour we're going to lose) is also very significant

Timing is everything as they say

The manks did away with Juninho's EBT but paid him from it well after he'd left their club. They didn't disclose it to the SFA until 3 years later.

  2. I can succinctly sum that up:

What a load of pish. Why does he not mention the scenario where the HMRC lose their appeal? Are there going to be mass apologies all round? I don't expect so.

I've never heard of the guy who wrote that pish. Imo he copied and pasted from blog by the tramp who is tarred by the brush of sectarianism.

  3. Bobby Shearer once pit a player out of a match even before the player got on the pitch , Souness , Grieg , Davis , Forsyth ,they could all tackle hard but fair .

Bobby Shearer was always one of my favourites Compo.

Football under the rules in place at that time was different. It was a mans game. Hard, body contact, fair.

Only despicable bastards went over the line.

  4. Remember Alexei Mikhailichenko? He was arguably the most skilful player we had but he didn't like to run. I remember Walter saying that when they played 5-a-side matches no one could get the ball from him.

It's just a pity Rangers didn't play in a five a side league mate.

Guys like him who produced every 9 or 10 matches when they could be bothered to shake themselves awake were the reason, despite 10's of millions being spent we were serial failures in Europe.

I couldn't give a monkeys chuff what they did elsewhere. We spent well over the budget for guys to turn up to showboat in cup finals or Wednesday night matches against Dunfermline or whoever.

An undoubted talent - a waste of money as far as Rangers were concerned.

  5. I've watched this match in European games at Ibrox umpteen times during the late 60's the 70's and so on.

The opposition will get a free kick or a corner 3 or 4 minutes from time and score.

    I really hope I'm wrong.

Scotland, despite playing world football of the Maryhill Stanklifters deserve a win.

That would only be preserving the agony though.

Strachan and his under achieving squad of fannies should have been shown the door a couple of games ago.

When you have a half empty Hampden the story has already been written.

  6. I must admit, the minute statistics are mentioned I switch off.

No statistic is ever going to change my mind that somebody is actually an important cog in a team if I think they are crap.

"Assists" is probably the most misleading thing that can ever be applied to a football player imo.

But then I've never played FIFA football manager on computer.

  7. No offence but if you check the bottom right of the colour one it was the SCOTTISH DAILY EXPRESS

I'll check out the black and white ones for clues but I think they might have been the Express as well.

I'm certain that it was the Citizen paper that was on sale around Ibrox on match days. There was a colour photo of a Rangers player inside each home match.

A guy who lived beside me made a few bob framing and selling the photos.

  8. Strachan's last chance? Tbh I think our squad is so bad and there's such a lack of decent Scottish managers that the SFA just see no point sacking him. We should be looking at another manager but until we can start bringing through a few decent Premier League level players like we used to we're not going anywhere fast.

I've lost all interest in our national side. We need to do our bit and start producing some homegrown talent that can be used.

You'll recall SBS when our club took a great deal of criticism for signing foreign players and thus " holding back Scottish youth and destroying Scottish football" ?

Look at most teams taking the field in our league these days and you'll see it's like Fred Karno's Army - there are players from countries I've never even heard of.

Any criticism from the media ? Of course not.

  9. Now that's what you call football boots. Some of the so called players of today wouldn't be able to lift a foot off the ground with those on.

My first pair of boots had wooden soles and studs.

  10. IF we beat Aberdeen twice and Hearts and perhaps reach the Scottish Cup Final, then I would say we are closing the gap.

Imo Les it'll take signing a minimum of 4 decent players before we begin to really close any gap between us and the manks. Yes, we'll gain the odd success or count ourselves unlucky at times but there is definitely a gap.

Between us and the rest I'd say there is no gap. We committed suicide all by ourselves and allowed the sheep to benefit. Guys playing at 50% and others fannying about cost us dearly in a few matches. Injuries didn't help. Neither did a manager who either couldn't give a monkeys or had lost total interest. Hopefully that will get addressed over the rest of this season.

  11. Got to say it was a toss up who was best between Baxter and Coops.

No. Sorry YB but that one simply doesn't stand at all.

As much as I liked Cooper, he was a fantastic player - when he could be ersed. Let's not re-write history here. There were times when quite correctly Davie was left sitting on the bench. There were other games when for whatever reason he was anonymous.

That did not happen with Baxter and that is the difference.

Cooper was good. Baxter was a few levels above him.

  12. These things happen in business.

I know mate. And I'm one of those who removes my business from those I feel aren't treating me properly as a customer. King can do all the business he wants with him as long as he doesn't expect me to follow suit.

It depends what is best for the club. There is an old saying: cutting your nose off to spite your face. If Ashely gives a good deal for the club to see out the 7 years then it is better than paying millions on court cases and maybe losing. As for shaking his hand King could wear surgical gloves. After the 7 years kick the Cnut as far as possible.

King strikes a deal with Ashley and the boycott continues. The club gain more revenue than they were previously receiving.

I'm sorry mate. I know the point you're making and understand why. But I won't be taking part.

  13. First team vs reserves was when they took the pre-season picture.

I never did get past Part 1 of the series I was going to write

I had the glossy colour version of that photo on my bedroom wall back then. It probably came from the Citizen paper.

  14. As long as Ashley is involved I won't be buying any of my family Rangers kit. King can buy as many as he wants.

Jesus Christ ! What is it our board just aren't getting ? Fat Ashley brings the club to the point of total ruin and King wants to shake his hand ?

  15. we've made a loss according to the Herald....http://www.heraldscotland.com/news/15177328.Rangers_post___278_000_pre_tax_loss_but_need_no_extra_funds_before_end_of_season/

According to STV news - £330,000 loss.
