  1. Apart from the first round I attended every match home and away in that run.

The Torino game at Ibrox was great as my dad and me were in the main stand with the Italian supporters society - they go to watch any Italian side playing in the UK. I went to see Dundee playing Milan with them too. One of them was head chef at O Sole Mio and post the Torino match we went there and sat eating and drinking right through the night.

We couldn't understand the kerfuffle at the end of the Sporting match as it was clear to us that Rangers had qualified.

Barcelona was an experience I'll never forget. I often wonder if my bag of clothes is still in my room in Lloret. :)

  2. Yeah, but to be fair we were so far behind that any shortening of odds would be minimal.

That said, may change as punters put money on

Doesn't matter howmuch money folk put on Rangers Craig.

We are those odds for a very good and understandable reason.

Anyone right now backing Rangers to win the league next season deserves sectioning.

  3. Surely the club who are the great champions of 'sporting integrity" weren't expecting McDonald to throw the game were they ?

And should the SFA maybe asking one or two questions about the Celtc players McDonald alludes to who were questioning him about the game ?

I find aspects of this a bit concerning to say the least

Witness the comments of Mutton and the rest of the manks towards a former goalkeeping team mate.

  4. I've no time for them either.

Strange thing is, I was on holiday in Rhyl back in the early 70's with 2 mates, a bear and a Thistle supporter and we became friendly with a sheep supporter from Galashields. He turned out over the next 10 or so years to be a top guy and would join us for a pint any time we were at a Rangers / sheep match home or away.

In saying that, he was the only one I ever met worth talking to.

Many years later I stopped going into the Ibrox Bar in Tenerife because they allowed sheep fans to drink in there. Erseholes to a man.

  5. Cheers Boabie. I looked it up - they won by 2 points and 23 goals so even if we had won that last game we'd still have been second (unless we'd won by over 20 goals) = or am I making a mistake?

If we'd won our match we'd have been +2 points.

Then if Dunfermline had beaten or drawn with the manks we'd have won the league.

Edit - beer may play a part in the above.

  6. I remember us going into the last game of a season when my dad had taken me to every home game (and started to take me to away ones) and we were unbeaten. As it happened we lost the last game but even had we won, we'd still have been second.

The standard that year is way beyond anything I've seen since, come to think of it.

I was at that match against the sheep Steve and think you may well be wrong.

We lost that match and a few days later the manks played their last game of the season against Dunfermline.

Even at that stage I recall the commentator saying that if Dunfermline won 15-0 Rangers would win the league.

It was a few years ago so maybe my mind is playing tricks.

  7. If you listen to the pish from the usual suspects, our current sponsors and shirtmakers got somewhat peed off at Kings court action and pulled the plug on any future connection with Rangers at any price.

Mind you, the same guys said we didn't have enough money for a tin of paint to cover the directors box.

Somewhere a deal will be in the wind.

  8. I must say I am pleased to see the board backing PC with cash!, if PC gets the players he wants, which seems likely so far!, then this season could be a fantastic one, really looking forward to the start of the season, bring it on!.

There is money being spent maintaining Ibrox too mate.

It's great to see promises being kept.

Not bad for "a club with no money" too. The manks be beeling.

  9. Kiddyfiddler Street are wondering where the money is coming from after Ill Phil, the tramp fool beggar JJ and umpteen others had been assuring them for months that the erse was out our trousers. :rfcbouncy:

Also amused at their criticism of Penny Arcade. One has it as "the worst song Roy Orbison ever wrote" while another has us singing it in commemoration of RC's getting killed at an amusement arcade in Belfast.

Honestly, you couldn't make these guys up.

  10. Perhaps that may be so but we're not playing against Barcelona or Juventus next season. Our biggest challenge will be to start scoring a lot more goals for starters

And start defending, And buy a midfield. And maybe sign a winger who can get the ball past the first defender. And ...........

Rab, it's probably that tonight I'm a glass half empty guy. Tomorrow it will no doubt change. :rfc:

  11. I would actually call 8/1 pretty stingy odds given everything that happened this season. Suggests the bookies think that mhank united aren't as good as they want to think they are and only looked good in comparison to the typical dross they had to beat. If things work out well for us this window we're going to be a whole different proposition next season.

We have been let down before but i'm encouraged by the activity that appears to be going on and there does indeed need to be some urgency given we have just 4 weeks to get everything in place for the first Europa league tie. Hoping that goes smoothly and we emerge well prepared for the opening day of the league on August 5th. Regarding that hoping for another opening day home tie and a far different result from last years opening day.

I certainly don't think the manks are as good as they themselves or the Scottish media think they are.

At present they are kings of the dung heap. Given where we've came from and what we've gone through that says more about the rest of Scottish football.

This season I said I'd be happy with a top 6. Next season I expect nothing less than second with a shout at a cup.

The following season I'll be mightily disappointed if we don't put in a serious challenge.

Naturally I hope things work out better though.

  12. I'm in no way as despondent as you. It's not about how much we spend but how wisely we spend it. Get better quality in & strengthen in the areas most needed & there'll be a big improvement. I'm sure about that.

Rab, apart from the goalie and even he'd cause debate among our support, just about every single area needs improving. I struggle to see anybody in that current squad worth keeping.

  13. If any of you have a tenner to spare on a long shot or maybe some free money after signing up to a betting site.

Rangers to win SPL (2017/18) 8/1

Sheep 12/1, Edinburgh sheep 80/1, Edinburgh exuberance utd 150/1, wont bother mentioning anyone else.

Unless someone has 10 to 15 million to throw at Rangers you'd be as well setting fire to your tenner mate.

We'll see how next season goes and maybe risk the tenner the following one.

  14. Thats the overall major problem. No ambition. Everyone still trying to squeeze as much as they can with current set up "hoping" for some huge investment somewhere rather than trying to start afresh and produce a new product that will bring in funds. As long as we have this mentality the spiral downwards will continue.

Every single club in Scotland is struggling to survive mate. We have our own problems. The manks are kings of the dung heap right now but in a few weeks will face the first serious challenge they've had outside our league for a year. Who knows, they may well face a side from Gibraltar.

Despite having a free run to 5 trebles they've had to rely on selling players to keep going.

I for one never fail to remind these bastards about a complete upper tier of their stadium covered in flags with no fans.

We'll see during the close season how many of their £10 million + players actually attract any attention whatsoever. The reason that's important is, the tax avoiders and criminals involved with their club are there for the short time and want their money back.
