Football clubs ask for help to fund facial recognition technology
boabie replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
The football clubs brought in stewards so they wouldn't have to meet the full cost of policing matches. Now they want tax payers to pay for technology to identify folk who could be identified if there were enough cops inside the stadium. Clubs are private companies and now that they may be at risk of punishment they want money. The SFA supported this legislation, why should my taxes pay to enforce a half thought out law ? -
Sports Direct abandon claim for £200K damages from Rangers FC
boabie replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
"A High Court judge overseeing a case involving Rangers has raised an offside flag after telling how he had been targeted by internet bloggers Mr Justice Peter Smith told lawyers that he had wrongly been accused of being a Freemason - and his wife had wrongly been accused of supporting Rangers. The judge said he was not a Freemason - and he said his wife was from Edinburgh. He has been asked to make decisions about a business dispute involving a sportswear firm run by Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley and Rangers. And said he wanted lawyers to know what bloggers were saying after a preliminary High Court hearing in London. Mr Justice Smith said his clerk had received emails responding to "various blogs". "One of the blogs insists that I am a Freemason, which is wrong," said the judge. "Also, my wife is a 'life-long Rangers supporter'." He added: "She is from Edinburgh. The idea that she would support any Glasgow team is laughable." Sportswear firm Sports Direct is claiming that Rangers breached a confidential agreement. Mr Justice Smith is due to analyse evidence at a High Court trial in London in February. :: Three years ago Mr Justice Smith had overseen a case involving Portsmouth. He had told Portsmouth fans gathered at a hearing in London that he was a Hull City fan. FIFA and UEFA set the rules on which football governance body runs a domestic league. The SFA have the same level of power as the English league when it comes to deciding what happens within the orders of their own football country.
-
As far as I understood it, following treaties made many years ago Berwick is a Scottish town governed by England. Both countries agreed that is how it would work This is not a political or nationalist statement btw.
-
Yes they would have to allow us to leave the Scottish leagues. But as said, the SFA are mandated by higher football authorities to be in charge all football matches held within Scotland. There is no law, civil or under football law that would or could force the SFA to allow us to play our home matches in Scotland. We can leave any time we want. We just couldn't play home games at Ibrox. There is also the matter that we would have to leave Scottish football altogether before we could officially apply for membership of any other league.
-
The precedent was set because both of those clubs were set up before there was a Welsh league for them to play in. That wouldn't help us in any way mate. Apart from anything else, the SFA control who plays football in Scotland at any level. I just can't see them allowing us and the mankies to walk away and then permit our games against English sides to be played up here competing against Scottish fixtures.

I was just talking to her and my wife reckons she worked there 76/77 pete.
-
I don't think Channon was the "thouroughbred" Mac. If I remember correctly Docherty was talking about Martin Buchan who'd been left out the team . Big Tam made one of the best tackles I've ever seen during that match.
-
The broadcasters have previous for turning down the sound when the mankies play. Strangely they turned the sound up when it was our supporters chanting.

My mates and I must've worn out your shoe leather getting us drinks.
-
My wife was a waitress at the Normandy at that time and I drank in the place. Champagne was a regular order for him and whatever crowd of lassies he had with him. His favourite record was Belfast by Boney M.
-
Docherty was a dumpling Pete. Anybody who knew anything about Derek Johnstone knew , good centre half that he turned out to prove, the only reason he wanted to play there was because he was lazy and saw that all those nights in the Normandy Hotel guzzling champagne with fat sluts meant he could no longer hack it as a forward. Docherty is the last person I'd look to if I was evaluating a Rangers player. He detested us.

It's probably the brain defence mechanism kicking in wanting me to forget last season. I must've seen the guy play but honestly can't even recall the name or anything about him. The only 2 games I clearly recall are the play-off matches and that's because I was on holiday at the time , got asked to leave a bar first game and had serious words with a couple of dirtybums second one.

Jim Forrest was a penalty box player who fed on excellent service from a great team around him. Few were as good at poaching as Jim was. McCoist played outside the box too. I'd take McCoist.

If he continues to show the same effort and attitude he showed when with us a protracted career in the English minor divisions awaits him. He is no loss to us.

The Trust receives my full patience and understanding MB. More power to their elbow as far as I'm concerned. But that doesn't change the fact that their communications are rubbish. In estimating the number of members I completely forgot the effect of the last 18 months. The Rangers support stepped forward and should be praised for digging into their pockets. When I mentioned member numbers dropping I meant pre-admin.
-
Obviously I am not going to take an opposite position to yourself PLG's. You are in the perfect position to know about membership numbers. One thing I will say though, of the dozen or so close friends who joined along me with me I am the only one still standing.

Rangers, the Daily Record, the obsessed and their obsessions.
boabie replied to boabie's topic in Rangers Chat
Clyde phone in got binned more years ago than I care to remember mate. I also took great delight in cancelling my Glasgow Herald one day when the smelly one was still working for a living. Harbouring a grudge is something dear to me. There are radio shows I don't listen to, papers I don't read and football stadiums I will never see the inside of again simply because of what they have said about me and my friends. The hotline in the topic came about via Newsnow Rangers. Somewhere I'd expect to read articles about my club . -
Trademarks & other MASH loan securities revert to Rangers

"A security over Murray Park to the Scottish Sports Council remains outstanding." Can anybody remind me what this is all about ? -
I happened upon the Daily Record sports hotline earlier where Rangers, the only show in town were again the main topic of discussion. http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/sports-hotline-warburton-says-wont-7186596? Having read it I began to wonder who, apart from Rangers fans could possibly be annoyed enough to pick up a telephone and waste time talking about a team he obviously doesn't support and probably more to the point, why the Daily Record would print what they had to say. Lance Little from Erskine who wrote, “Once again we have total disrespect shown by Rangers to a player, his club and even their fans. Bidding outrageously low is insulting to both player and club and must be embarrassing to all associated to Rangers. If they really want a player, then as most people do when they cannot afford something, they must start to save up their pennies for him.” is no stranger to the hotline. Here he is previously, “Pot and Kettle stuff from Rangers who are looking for player protection as over the years it has been their players other teams needed protection from. Remember Lee “Elbows” McCulloch, Graeme Souness, Terry Hurlock, etc. If you dish it out you must be prepared to take it back and stop bleating. Poor little overpaid players getting bullied.” or earlier, “How refreshing to see a fair decision by the SFA in the Griffiths case. It’s obvious he is just a silly young boy who got caught up in the moment while out with his mates. Give him a break.” Eddie Eason from Balingry who said, “The Breadman says he won’t be held to ransom. Get in the real world Warbs, your chairman said he was going to spend £30million. From this statement clubs will always want top dollar for their players.” also has previous. “The Scarlet Pimpernel arrives from South Africa and the hot air and sound bites start flowing. The gullible will fall for it again. Rangers owe Mike Ashley £5 million so just pay the man or are they going to try and dodge that like they did with the rest of their creditors?” Interestigly Lance also makes another appearance the same day on the hotline. What is it with these guys ? Do they not have enough to worry about with their own club ? If you supported an under-achieving team, playing crap football and with a poor manager would you even take a second to consider the minutiae of what's happening at another team ?

I saw George playing in the Schlacthof [sp ?] jazz club in Frankfurt around 1980. Kenny Ball played there around the same time. edit, he didn't play the Billy Boys.
