  1. Rangers fans on line are the minority!,this is part of the reason we are losing the battle!,we need to involve more Rangers fans!

I've held the view for a long time now Ian that Rangers forums like this and many others are "following the rules" when it comes to comment . Quite properly too as we'd be shut down quickly due to mass complaints by the obsessed if we strayed . Compare and contrast with the sheer number of forums set up my mankies to look into absolutely anything relating to Rangers. Forums where evrything feeds off lies, rumour or fantasy thought up by folk like Gillivan and his ilk.

There have been countless examples of blogs which were downright libellous where nobody took action to fight the lies or where fans could not find a figurehead like an MP to bring the matter up. Right now outside the Rangers family imo we are perceived as a toxic brand. Most of it done by the aforesaid lies, etc. I'd like to think that perhaps when a few end up behind bars in a couple of months time we'd have sensible folk think that what was done to Rangers was a scandal and see us as victims. In real life though I just know that's not going to happen. The obsessed are still writing to UEFA, the government and anybody else they can think of questioning how we were granted a licence to play football in the first place post-Whyte. When the criminal cases are over with nobody will ponder on what was actually done to Rangers. It'll all have been our fault and we deserved everything that was done to us [and more].

As to getting more Rangers fans online, the clatties have one great advantage, they don't actually support any team. They simply spend their time hating Rangers. I'll guarantee the majority of them couldn't find Parkhead with a sat-nav. They have nothing better to fill their lives with so will continue obsessing and spreading lies.

  2. Funny you should say that I was in an Indian restaurant once(of many times) I can't remember the name but it was on the corner of Sauchiehall street and Eldersliestreet which is on the Kelvingrove side of Charing Cross. The waiter came up to a table with a trolley and put the curry on a plate and then set it alight to Flambé it. He then went to put the plate on the table but dropped it on the customers lap. The guy was screaming and was rushed away to the kitchen. He did come back and eat a meal but I guess it did not end there.

I passed that curry house a few weeks ago when going to get my visa to go on holiday. Back in the early 70's it was a pub/function venue called The Three Pigeons. It was very popular with us guys holding nights out for stag do's, weddings, finished apprenticeship, etc.

  3. "A blog, believed to have been set up by the same ‘Bears Fightback’ group that started the petition, was brought to attention on social media after journalist Graham Spiers raised concerns over the content of some the posts."

Yeh, God forbid that a group of Rangers fans should set up an online petition to defend the honour of our club against blatant lies, libellous articles or slanderous interviews.Quick, somebody phone the polis.

  4. I see that Ill Phil has disappeared under his rock again. The 18th was his last blog. Nothing on todays decision whatsoever. Maybe he's holding a meeting with another "informed source" inside his head and will come up with General Ashleys latest tank movements tomorrow ? Meanwhile in Narnia, the TSFM have somehow come up with the theory that as todays case was brought up to defend and protect Rangers Retails interests, Ashley will send the 70,000 bill from today to Rangers. :roflmao:

You really do have to wonder what planet those idiots live on.

  5.

When you read that judgement fully it is easy to see that this case was brought about purely by malice. The judge has obviously formed the same opinion. Ashleys lawyers may well have made a few bob from the proceedings but must be highly embarrassed at having to present such nonsense in court and holding themselves up to ridicule.

  6. James Doleman will be there to keep us all informed, paid for by the BHEASTS!

I don't know if he's there. A couple of days ago he was covering some terrorist trial down south. He's still showing an interest though. Here is his latest,

    ===============

Just had a look at the photos of Green and Whyte arriving. No baying mob, and all very civilised. Whoever decided to switch this hearing away from Glasgow should be applauded for actually showing a bit of common sense.

Apparently there is currently some legal discussion inside the court on whether press and public should be admitted to the hearing.

  7. Is anyone surprised at an investigation into Rangers ? Somebody questions the actions of the Parkhead plankton and a few days later the focus is firmly on us again. 8 months ago there was an enquiry into Motherwell. We're still waiting to find out what the result is.

There will still be Rangers fans who'll continue to bankroll these bastards too.

  8. I'll make time to check the rules Boabie but I think you've answered the point by saying, correctly, that the SFA are empowered by FIFA/UEFA so if those bodies were to sanction a move it's hard to see the SFA threatening their own existence by standing against them.

We are certainly agreed, it's not going to happen.

The SFA are a bunch of amateur penpushers and have been since they were formed. They don't have the courage to stand up to UEFA or FIFA. Then again, given the amount of money swilling around the top leagues in Europe there is no chance of somebody like Bayern or Barcelona demanding entry into the EPL, the only scenario I could ever imagine that would force UEFA to look at this whole idea with any more than a dismissive sneer.

It's a debate that comes up online every few years. Some of the ideas pushed forward in an attempt to justify even the most brief debate are bordering on the idiotic in my humble opinion BH.

  9. Firstly, I would not regard the result of a debate on any Forum Board, least of all the one you mention, as being a settled decision on any football matter under SFA jurisdiction never mind FIFA or UEFA.

Theoretcially you may well be correct, in fact I wouldn't doubt it, as all football in Scotland has to be sanctioned by the SFA , but, and it's rather a big BUT I would suggest, in practice I am not sure that they would go against FIFA/UEFA or that they would succeed if they tried.

Anyway it's not going to happen because the only possible invite might be from the English non League system where some Clubs might see it as financially beneficial and let's face it we're not going to start again at the bottom, now are we?

I regarded the matter as settled because the exact rules you were saying you did not have access to right now were quoted and posted on the thread in the forum. As for going against FIFA or UEFA, the SFA are empowered via those two bodies and as I was saying earlier, it would be Rangers and any other pirate club seeking to set up a league outwith the normal set-up who would be sanctioned by the two top bodies.

One thing I do and always have agreed with is it is never going to happen. The English don't need us. They make plenty as things are right now.

  10. As the SFA give out the licences it is quite obvious that they can do that. It is games from teams under their or UEFA's jurisdiction though.. They couldn't stop a pirate association starting up, as happened in darts.

What good would a pirate association do for us pete ? Even if we got 16 or so clubs from wherever to play us on a weekly basis we would not have access to European and our players banned from international competitions. Then there is the safety certificate and policing issues to get around. What chance the police attending to cover say Rangers v Newcastle at Ibrox while a Scottish semi final or final is being held at Hampden ?

  11. You are confusing the Scottish Football Association who control all football played in Scotland with the English League who only control who plays in their League, they don't control the rest of English Football, which is controlled by the FA, which is perhaps what you meant.

Whilst we have to be registered with our own National Association to play football at all e.g. in Europe, I am not sure that the SFA could prevent Rangers playing in an English League or Timbuktoo for that matter. (Since I'm on holiday I'll leave it to others to check the SFA Articles on this one and will stand to be corrected.) They MIGHT try but I doubt that would survive a legal challenge for restraint of trade. We would have more to worry about with FIFA/UEFA but there are numerous examples of this all over Europe https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_association_football_clubs_playing_in_the_league_of_another_country.

Indeed there are so many examples that it would be difficult to argue that each is a special case.

Believe me BH, the SFA have the power to prevent ANY football match taking place in Scotland. I remeber a very long thread on the FF board many years ago when this very point was debated and settled.

  12. By far the biggest issue I see is their lack of corporate governance. Its all very well appointing his family and friends - they're hardly likely to challenge his methods. Eventually this stuff catches up on you - as seen by the string of bad business decisions that SD are making.

More fool them. Jelly and Ice Cream in the Louden with Sports Direct dies!

It might take some time but once the toxidity starts working it's only a matter of time before Ashley, the same as every other powerful businessman fails.

  13. The football clubs brought in stewards so they wouldn't have to meet the full cost of policing matches. Now they want tax payers to pay for technology to identify folk who could be identified if there were enough cops inside the stadium. Clubs are private companies and now that they may be at risk of punishment they want money. The SFA supported this legislation, why should my taxes pay to enforce a half thought out law ?

  14. "A High Court judge overseeing a case involving Rangers has raised an offside flag after telling how he had been targeted by internet bloggers

Mr Justice Peter Smith told lawyers that he had wrongly been accused of being a Freemason - and his wife had wrongly been accused of supporting Rangers.

The judge said he was not a Freemason - and he said his wife was from Edinburgh.

He has been asked to make decisions about a business dispute involving a sportswear firm run by Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley and Rangers.

And said he wanted lawyers to know what bloggers were saying after a preliminary High Court hearing in London.

Mr Justice Smith said his clerk had received emails responding to "various blogs".

"One of the blogs insists that I am a Freemason, which is wrong," said the judge.

"Also, my wife is a 'life-long Rangers supporter'."

He added: "She is from Edinburgh. The idea that she would support any Glasgow team is laughable."

Sportswear firm Sports Direct is claiming that Rangers breached a confidential agreement.

Mr Justice Smith is due to analyse evidence at a High Court trial in London in February.

:: Three years ago Mr Justice Smith had overseen a case involving Portsmouth. He had told Portsmouth fans gathered at a hearing in London that he was a Hull City fan. "

  15. This is what i don't get - has the SFA more or greater powers than say the English football authorities? The biggest thing against us is that dont need us

FIFA and UEFA set the rules on which football governance body runs a domestic league. The SFA have the same level of power as the English league when it comes to deciding what happens within the orders of their own football country.

  16. That could play in the English leagues. Berwick are an English club and proud of it, but play their football in Scotland and proud of that fact. We could do the same and happily live with that fact.

As far as I understood it, following treaties made many years ago Berwick is a Scottish town governed by England. Both countries agreed that is how it would work This is not a political or nationalist statement btw.

  17. As regards the SFA, well money talks; they would have to allow us to exit the league - restraint of trade and all that..

Yes they would have to allow us to leave the Scottish leagues. But as said, the SFA are mandated by higher football authorities to be in charge all football matches held within Scotland. There is no law, civil or under football law that would or could force the SFA to allow us to play our home matches in Scotland. We can leave any time we want. We just couldn't play home games at Ibrox. There is also the matter that we would have to leave Scottish football altogether before we could officially apply for membership of any other league.

  18. You may laugh but Cardiff and Swansea are in the English Leagues and coining in much more money than us; you could argue a precedent has been set. Personally I feel we should join a pan-european league with the likes of PSV, Anderlecht etc., the Danish clubs. That would challenge the EPL and so forth.

The precedent was set because both of those clubs were set up before there was a Welsh league for them to play in. That wouldn't help us in any way mate. Apart from anything else, the SFA control who plays football in Scotland at any level. I just can't see them allowing us and the mankies to walk away and then permit our games against English sides to be played up here competing against Scottish fixtures.

  19. If he was sitting in the hall getting waitresses to serve him then I would not have seen what he was drinking but he used to stand at the bar in the corner regularly when alone and drank a half-pint of lager and a vodka and orange. I worked there for about 6-8 months probably around 1975. I had to stop because my wife got jealous of all the attention i was getting from other females. It was great being a barman there.:D

I was just talking to her and my wife reckons she worked there 76/77 pete.
