  1. Yes, that's correct. The Penny Arcade they claimed was a celebration of the shooting of a Republican (terrorist, I presume - I can't recall the details) in a gaming shop in Belfast. They make up reasons for everything. They then repeat it ad infinitum - and get their friends in the media to help - to get it accepted as 'fact'.

Unfortunately, demented though they are, this is highly effective in a society, such as ours, which disdains education and historical fact and reveres ignorance and acts on ill-judged instincts.

Even though the song was written by a Dublin born catholic. :applepine:

  2. If I remember correctly they already had a go at Penny arcade. They came away with the same sort of stuff, that it was a catholic who was jumped on or something like that. I am sure there is a thread on here somewhere. I don't have time to look it up just now as I am going out.

I think that related to "Bouncy bouncy" Pete. Even though we posted footage of our fans singing it at a match several years before said catholic got jumped.

  3. Next up for the mock offended.

We Welcome the Chase.... Surely that is a statement of (factual) supremacy :D

"We are the people" was the subject of a long thread on McConvilles website a few years ago. Not one of the mock offended knew where it originated. Even after being told they wouldn't accept the answer and continued to call posters liars/ draw their own conclusions/make up fairy tales/ post links to folk even more obsessed and deluded than themselves. They did the same with Penny Arcade which will surely be the next target.

  4. It's from the good book..............Psalm 95:7-11New King James Version (NKJV)

7 For He is our God,

And we are the people of His pasture,

And the sheep of His hand.

god fearing folk that we are

    Somos la gente !

hola hola....somos los ninos Guilermo !

They already know that Colin. They've were told years ago. However that doesn't stop them getting offended all over again and if Rangers buckle once again it won't stop them going after something else. I said at the time, a line should have been drawn in the sand when they complained about TBB. They won't ever be happy .

  5. "Some say it’s a reference to Ulster, and the notion of “Protestant Supremacy.”

Some say it wound up in use at Ibrox via the Govan shipyards of Harland and Wolff, one of the most notoriously anti-Catholic and anti-Irish employers on the planet. Their Belfast operation was profoundly Unionist and Loyalist and these practices were exported to Glasgow when the Govan yard laid its first keel.

Wherever it comes from, isn’t it time they dispensed with it? "

I don't know why I'm offended. But I am. What a shower of deluded half-witted diddies they are.

  6. nobody paid his mortgage which is why Bank of Scotland foreclosed. The real question is why the Bank of Scotland gave him a 110% mortgage on the stately pile. Couldn't have anything to do with him buying Rangers with no visible means of support could it !

Yep. That house and the renovation of the roof is another one that could yet come back to haunt him. The way the repair was arranged via one of his companies and how vat was not paid is something for the future I'm certain. I just hope they wait until he's released before taking that one up.

  7. Hamburg have a similar if even more complex board scheme and their benefits include a help station at away matches etc. IIRC they handle away ticket sales and get 10% of the proceeds which helps their funding.

Would that we could start with a blank sheet of paper.

Are Hamburg not something like 100 million in the red BH ? There's a billionaire fan or something who keeps them going.

  8. Morton. Meiklejohn. McPhail. I never saw them. But they are legends because their names are known long after their playing days by the fans of other teams as well as by Rangers supporters. Geordie Young's a legend. So are Greig and Baxter. Laudrup and Gazza will be. But good servant Miller? I doubt it.

While agreeing with just about everything there, an observation from my viewpoint about Gazza - we all loved seeing the man in a Rangers jersey. But if you asked anybody outside Scotland which team they associate him with I doubt many would say Rangers. He was a star and probably a football legend. I'm old enough to have seen a few Rangers legends and wouldn't consider Gazza to be one. Just my opinion Scott.

  9. I've always thought that a player is worth somewhere between what we value him at and how much another side need and rate him at. Some failures have been bought and sold for way way above what they produced. Over the years we even signed a few of them ourselves. Sticking with McKay, I've no idea what he would be sold for but I suspect that even at the level he is playing at, he is a prospect who could bring in good money if a manager somewhere decided he needed him.

  10. Where is the evidence? And 'we' doesn't even come into it?

You've lost mme a bit there Bear. If you mean which guy said it, it is Buster. Quote " ‘Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.’ George Santayana "

If you mean that one single group wouldn't be in the best interests of Rangers and our fans then I'd ask you to look back at the past couple of years where folk involved in the various fans groups and funding schemes have taken to the web to attack the other groups. All they did was give the appearance of division and provide ammunition for the clatties who, in their usual way, twist what is being said and spead further to make us all look stupid. I've no idea what your last bit means.

  11. If at this time, despite all we've gone through in the past few years, we can't get together and form ONE body then as one guy here says, we are on the way to repeating the mistakes of our past. This is a very important time in our history. The only thing to stop us going forward is ego. There are not enough blazers to go around and some should simply accept that fact.

  12. I don't agree

Forums just like this one are absolutely VITAL for discussion of what is happening at and around the club - we don't have press we can trust - without these fora we'd probably be finished as a club.

This site for example is moderated - anyone can ask a reasonable question and someone can give an answer.

Communications [or lack of] within the RST prove your point there mate. If it wasn't for the forums I would not have known what was going on.

I mean that not as criticism of anyone personally btw .

  13. Yeah, I assume so. We're discussing the best way to allow those who contributed to do so.

Good news is I'm going away on holiday early tomorrow for ten days so will have to leave it in the hands of my admin team peers.

I hope you have as good a holiday as I just had Frankie.

  14. Why? I'm only guessing like us all but it seems like a sop appointment to the 'stop criminalising fans' brigade over the road: more understanding, less punishing, less laws.

Given we've had fans who have been affected by these laws, and since most don't care for them (I do, make no bones about it) why are we so opposed?

AS, having seen, heard and read a bit about this girls history here's my opinion. She is seen as being "respected" in her field. Her field included detaining or arresting men if a neighbour reported hearing loud voices from inside a family home. She is symptomatic of all that is wrong with this country nowadays when personal freedoms are being more and more restricted due to stupid laws being enacted by folk who live in a different world from the rest of us. If a law was passed saying you had to paint your erse green on a Thursday she would do her best to make sure it was obeyed. Think Open University student from the mid-70's and you will not be far away. I think she's been brought in so the football authorities can answer criticism from politicians that they are not answering all of footballs "problems" and is not there for our benefit. She'll do us no favours.

  15. This is why I hate voting on things. It's like bloody politics sometimes - try and find the person telling the least warped version of the truth.

I'll go further BM - if there are shelf companies being set up in the background while concerted efforts are being made to bring together the various Rangers minded sectors and schemes, not to mention egos, then this whole exercise is doomed to fail before it even begins. Anybody engaging in that will not be receiving my votes or indeed any of my friends votes once I tell them what's going on and I would urge every other Rangers fan to take the same position. All of this was supposed to bury hatchets. It would seem that some have bought new ones and are already sharpening them.
