  1. The three stooges seemed to imply that common sense should take precedence over statute. Fortunately in this country that's not how things work. Imo their decision will get overturned.
  2. What they are saying Rab is, that the tax laws in place at the time were NOT adhered to.
  3. The EBT's were administered via MIH if my memory is not failing me. MIH put money into a trust which then loaned to employees including Rangers staff. I'll stand corrected if wrong BD.
  4. HMRC are saying that though there was some latitude in the wording of the rules at the time, Murrays companies crossed the line while using the scheme. Murray told them about what he was doing at the time but HMRC retrospectively decided to take action. Their positition is the scheme Rangers used was never at any time "legal". The only way HMRC will get nothing is if the supreme court decide Murray acted appropriately.Even then it looks like the announcement made at the budget yesterday will see the individuals who benefited from the scheme made personally liable for any taxes due. That could lead to them chasing Murray to pay imo.
  5. My understanding is that HMRC are pushing for the tax, interest and penalties to be paid.
  6. Some here would say he's further south to Lafferty.
  7. I could throw a name into the ring right here but I think at least one of our fellow posters would go off on a rant again.
  8. " MARK WARBURTON and his backroom team at Rangers are in the process of visiting a number of the most powerful sides in the Barclays Premier League to sell their club as the perfect destination for loan players for next season. The Ibrox manager has already brought Dominic Ball from Tottenham Hotspur and Gedion Zelalem from Arsenal on temporary arrangements and was back touching base with both clubs earlier this week over a range of matters as he addresses the issue of strengthening his squad. Warburton has revealed that his head of recruitment, Frank McParland, and assistant manager, David Weir, are also talking to other prominent sides including Manchester City in an attempt to forge relationships that will be mutually beneficial should Rangers win promotion to the Ladbrokes Premiership. “Frank does it from his recruitment point of view and through his contact base, which is really extensive,” explained Warburton. “David and I will go into Everton, Liverpool or Manchester City. We know the guys at City really well. “If I’m back home, I go into to Tottenham or Arsenal. They are tremendous clubs and we can learn so much from them. “If we can strengthen those relationships, we will be in a good place. “I was at Spurs this week and speaking with Arsenal. They know what is expected up here. " http://www.heraldscotland.com/sport/football/14348771.Rangers_manager_Mark_Warburton_kicks_off_summer_talent_hunt_with_visits_to_several_top_English_clubs/?
  9. I couldn't agree more mate. The highlight programmes are so bad I gave up on them months if not years ago and catch what I need online. But what has to be remembered is, despite the possibility nay probability that the BBC are not working to the conditions of their charter, do we really want them anywhere near Ibrox until there is a total clearout of the scumbags at Pacific Quay ? We can't have it both ways. But certainly Gollum should be told that he will quite simply not be allowed near our club. Never mind withdrawing press privileges. Use right of admission regulations and ban him completely.
  10. I'll predict the outcome of that line too mate - "The BBC are not there to promote or advetise private companies." It's sad, but that's their position and there is nobody, believe me, nobody with influence willing to take them on.
  11. As a licence fee payer who went through all of what you are doing a few years ago with others I'll predict the outcome - "Rangers are attempting to interfere in the operating procedures of the BBC and this cannot be permitted in any way, shape or form. " That's as far as we got.
  12. I think we would all agree what SHOULD happen Bearman. Unfortunately I fully expect our board to cave in to a limited apology from Gollum and he'll be back spreading his poison. If I'm wrong then I'll be the first to applaud the board for doing what the fans want.
  13. On a slightly separate note, the skidmarks are wetting themselves over some announcement during the budget today - "The Chancellor announced at Budget 2016 that the government will take action to ensure those who have used disguised remuneration tax avoidance schemes pay their fair share of tax and National Insurance contributions (NICs). This follows an earlier announcement about these schemes at Autumn Statement 2015." https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/tackling-disguised-remuneration-avoidance-schemes-overview-of-changes-and-technical-note/technical-note I've no idea whether this affects our guys or not or whether the big tax case result would cover it all as far as liability resting with Murrays companies or personally with those who used the EBT's. No doubt Ill Phil and his cabal of tax experts will blog soon.
  14. I got offered a freebie, meal, drinks, etc via an ex St Mirren player. I thanked him but turned him down.
  15. I await the skidmarks demanding that the match delegate be identified to save the integrity of the game.
  16. From wiki - MPs accused of Contempt of Parliament may be suspended or expelled.[17] They may also be committed to the clock tower under Big Ben,[17] although this practice hasn't been used since Charles Bradlaugh was detained in 1880. Strangers (those who are not members of the House) may be committed to prison during the life of the Parliament. The House of Lords has the power to fine as well as to order imprisonment for a term of years.
  17. And good luck to those bears Ian. But I made a decision and will never go back on it. Not another penny.
  18. They'll never receive another penny from me Rab.
  19. Yeh. I was reading up on the guy there. He was born in Australia and went to the skidmarks. He then got loaned out to a couple of clubs. Won a cap for Scotland before playing for Australia. As said mate, I've only caught him in the highlights of one match and the last few minutes of another. He seems to be willing to charge up and down the park, the way our guys do it. I've seen worse - some of them wearing the Rangers jersey too.
  20. I heard some tosser [ Nevin ?? ] say before the game that he'd spoken to plenty of Everton fans who want Stubbs as their next manager. Aye right .
  21. Jackson Irvine. He just won man of the match.
  22. Just turned over from the egg chasing to the cup final. The fella I was on about is the guy Irvine with Ross County. I know nothing about him but he seems a reasonable player.
  23. "Gordon Parks: The stench of failure surrounding Gordon Strachan is now so strong it can’t be washed away .OUR sportswriter doesn’t miss the Scotland boss as he delivers damning verdict. FORGET Brexit and Project Fear. Having already masterminded Scotland’s European exit, the signs are Gordon Strachan is already plotting our absence from another World Cup. Thursday’s Hampden squad announcements had all the hallmarks of the US electoral campaign. Maybe not quite Donald Trump but it was enough to give you the hump. There was comedy yet also embarrassment and downright terror as Strachan defended his picks ahead of Russia 2018. It started with shock and very little awe. Asked what was required to become a Scotland player, with a straight face he said: “You have to be able to pass the ball and control it.” Typically condescending or something more damning? Is he deliberately dumbing down responses in a belief that when it comes to the game’s intricacies we’re all ignorant simpletons? The hefty wedge he picks up from the SFA should’ve ensured he laid out a positive vision for the future. Instead, what we were served up was two squads packed with perennial failures, same old faces and the reward of a cap for a new batch of the mediocre. It was the late, great Tommy Burns who said Berti Vogts handed out caps like sweeties. But this pick-and-mix is a gob-stopper beyond anything the German came up with. Nine uncapped players have been chosen for the friendly double-header against the Czech Republic and Denmark, though it comes with a warning: he’s more than happy to go with “these guys have done a fantastic job for us” in recent campaigns. Maybe it’s confusing living south of the border but would somebody – perhaps his boss Stewart Regan – remind him that the stench of failure surrounding his reign is now so strong that no amount of deluded superlatives could wash it away. Once again, who’s he kidding? It’s never easy to fillet a boyhood hero but the hard truth is that Strachan has only delivered on one of the promises made on the day he was appointed. He said then that “the fans are more famous than the team at the moment and we have to try to get up there and together be as famous as them”. Well, he certainly got his wish. The rest of us cringed as he took a selfie with his squad alongside the Tartan Army after the France 2016 dead-rubber in Gibraltar. It’s time for accountability. He’s paid to build a side from the best players at his disposal, end of story. Dishing out caps to all and sundry only serves to devalue the honour of wearing the dark blue. He needs to stop the psychobabble, bin the rubbish and start delivering results. It’s already looking like a World Cup campaign of more Strachan own goals. Maybe he’d be better off just building a wall. " Read more at http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/gordon-parks-stench-failure-surrounding-7544800#z5h8IqQUyO7AJ63L.99
