The Summer 2024 Rangers Transfer Window Rumours and Deals - Thread
CammyF replied to der Berliner's topic in Rangers Chat
Rangers B defeated Huddersfield B 3-2 this afternoon with Hagi playing. He got 2 goals and an assist. We had a trialist playing CH - few rumours flying around as to who it was but nothing concrete. -
Nobody is saying that it's revelatory, but it's the first time we've heard a board member talk about it publicly. The current board have previously shied away from talking about on-going issues so it was great to hear JG publicly discussing them, taking accountability for the errors made and looking at ways to improve the club. Maybe that's the revelatory part.
-
It was interesting to hear the interim Chairman speak publicly and admitting that we do need investment and that they will listen to any offers of external investment (which doesn't automatically mean foreign investment). Off course circumstances would have to be correct but it appears they are open and seeking external investment. As said above, his public interview skirted around the questions on investment but his RTV interview was more clear.

Just listened to the interview and firstly, it was great to hear from John and hope that this isn't his one and only press conference, think we need rk be having these on an ongoing basis. My takeaways ; - he seemed to admit that the delays in opening the Copland were all down to the board (good he is accepting blame and accountability) and that we are now awaiting all the final sign-offs. - he skirted around the questions on investment and his responses didn't make me feel that outwith further investment fron current share-holders that there is much in the pipeline (he said of anyone wants to invest then get in touch - that's doesn't sound like a board that knows where the required investment is coming from our secured. - CEO recruitment doesn't seem anywhere near being completed and this is very disappointing. This has gone unfulfilled for far to long. - sounds like the board are all behind the manager and he was impressed with PC. Need to back the vocal support with financial support. Hopefully he'll understand the magnitude of what it will take to grab back the mantle of Scotlands leading football club as, as he admitted the gulf is huge and growing.

I wasn't questioning the salary, just where it was "heard". He could well be on that or he may be on more, or less. I wouldn't think Rangers would advertise individuals salaries, it'll be reported as a whole and people will be guessing (educated or not) what percentage each player receives. -

I think we all hear a few bits and bobs and some will be true, some will have a hint of truth and some will either just not pan out or be false. The growth of social media, news travels fast and at times becomes distorted. I tend not to post most of what little I do hear. I did post a wee story I heard about Shankland but take it with a pinch of salt. -

Apologies, when you said "heard' I thought someone had told you. Wouldn't believe the press personally. -
Said after the game, Jefte, Tav, Butland, Barron Dessers played well and Lawrence and Bajrami contributed. But with two goals and winning the penalty, Dessers all day long for me.

Kris Boyd scored goals but for some reason struggled to score against Celtic for both Rangers and Killie. When Boyd was at his best, he had Kenny Miller as his partner. Miller would do all the running, harassing, pulling defenders all over the place and Boyd would reap the rewards. However, Kenny Miller could also scored goals and his record against Celtic in his 2nd spell at the club was fantastic. Dessers would undoubtedly benefit from having a strike partner (as would the team in my opinion) but we don't have that luxury and the manager only plays 1 up top. 7 goals in 9 from Dessers this season are great numbers but we are over-relient on him. Make no excuses for saying this again, but if Dessers isn't scoring, Rangers fornrhe most part, aren't scoring. -

Agreed, we'll need to keep our better players fit and playing most weeks. But just as important will be PC deciding what is best 11 is and sticking with it for a large percentage of our games. -
I hope Hearts appoint Neil Lennon, it's the appointment their fans deserve.

I have repeatedly said he's not what we require, if that's not calling him out, I don't know ow what is. He's not what's required but he's what we have and he scores goals. I gave the exame of Kris Boyd who wasn't great against Celtic, but we still beat them with him in the team. Other players contributed back then, but now we are over-relient on Dessers. Good luck finding another 20+ goal stirker given the financial mess we find ourselves in (and that isn't Dessers fault either). -

We were but unless I'm mistaken he's part of a team? And can't a point about one player be expanded? #threadpolis #tomaturetoinsertmeme -

It would nice to see the whole team play well against Celtic or are you holding Dessers to different standards and expectations? # troll -

Maybe due to the late decision to have the bottom section open, but Copland Front looked under utilised other than the UB section (which was strangly "lop-sided"). -

Not good enough for some though. First it was we want a 20+ goal a season striker. Along came Dessers and it was, aye but not him. Now it's, it's all fine and well scoring 20+ goals a season, but we want him to score the 20+ goals in different games. They've made their mind up about him, they'll never change and Dessers, not matter what he does won't be good enough for them. -

But we will struggle to gey someone who'll do what you want. Who do you suggest we sign that will score 20+ goals a season including winners in every OF game? -

I'll tell you a little story regarding LS and its up to you if you believe it. Allegedly we did bib for LS on the final day of this transfer window. It was what could be described as a "low ball offer" and Hearts quickly rejected it. However, LS knew about the offer and was determined to make the move, but powerless to make it happen. Fast forward to this season and LS started it on the bench (wonder why) but with SN desperate to save his job, he's turned to LS to save him. LS is going through the motions and no more. All "aledged" as no firm source but thought I'd share what I was told.
