To quote you, absolute bollocks - he has had his contract terminated so they can replace him with another foreign player. But don't let the facts get in the way of bashing a ex-player who helped us win the league and get to EL Final (wonder if we'll be saying that about Cortes, MacCausland and Cerny). And again, I never said I wanted him resigned just that's he's far better than we currently have. It's an opinion that will be shared by some fans and not by others.
-
Cortes - played about 3 full games for us and currently injured ans has been for a while so.a fit Kent is a far better option. MacCausland is a prospect but at this time couldn't lace Kents boots Cerny has been terrible for us since he signed. So hardly bollocks.
-
True, but what about the other seasons? Are we forgetting Kent tearing the likes of Dortmund apart?
-
Didn't say I wanted him back, just he is far better than we currently have.
-
Apparently released so they can bring in another "foreign" player. He'd certainly a far better option than Cortes, Cerny, Matondo or McCausland.
-
Martin Bain didn't employ many during his time. I don't think it's a necessity as long as we are employing the right people in the right roles.
-
You don't have to. Some believe he was never offered the job. Some believe he isn't a Rangers fan.
-
Don't think any gigs have sold out other than the opening gigs. I went to see Dirty DC and wasn't anywhere near full (decent gig, good venue and sound was excellent). Match day income isn't all year round and don't think it's busy for "live away games". Only us the fans can make it a success, by going and using it. However, with little or no gigs scheduled (other than tribute acts), it's never going to take off. You can go and watch live music in Glasgow most nights, so the artists are out there, the crowd are out there we just don't seem to be able to book acts. At £12M it's a very expensive match day pub.
-
But the catering company we gave the new deal to is one we previously gotten rid off. Hardly seems to me that that's showing us moving forward, it's moving backwards. We should be asking what NEH ROI is given the cost of circa £12M - its completely under utilised (outwith the museum) and this will be shown in its ROI.
-
Aren't the new catering company the one we got rid off due to quality and cost? Seems we are going round in circles with catering companies and not getting quality or value for money for the fans. Historically the dodgy vans outside Ibrox offer better quality and value for money. The accounts should show how much (or not) NEH is making and then we'll get a good idea of it's ROI. High earners have (mostly) gone and this is being reflected on performance and results. The Castore deal should at least show some valuable income along with season ticket sales showing again its the fans who are ploughing money into the club.
-
Beg to differ. Accounts will shed more light on what our current state and if we are a lost cause or bot.
-
Aren't we currently a lost cause? Sure looks like it.
-
He is a Rangers fan. Fan media confirmed this at the time he rejected us.
-
Haha - the current board have cost us just as much, if not more.
-
Really, what we're the reasons? Given the board offered him the job, would you conceded thar it was another case of the board selecting the wrong candidate?
-
Maybe we did, I said I wasn't convinced but we did offer him the role and the question remains why did a died-in-the-wool Rangers fan turn the role down. What happened to the other candidates that were interviewed? Assume we had a 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice? The longer this rumbles on, the worse it looks on the board especially given the other positions that remain unfilled.
-
Would King be any worse / better than the current incumbents? Does King really have investment and football people lined up? King may be yesterday's man, but on reflection, so are the current board. Neither King NOR the current incumbents are what we need to propel the club forward in the medium / long term. What we need is either, or both to make the correct decisions short-term for the medium / long term stability and growth. For me, King would be who I'd trust more, but it's unlikely to happen. We're at the stage both on and off the pitch that we ate simply hoping things are going to improve but with little or no evidence. 1 league title in 13 years, unless there is dramatic change, this is our future and it appears we are accepting consistent failure, downsizing and lowering of expectations. Hardly the Rangers way.
-
I don't know. Maybe we just took it for granted that as a Rangers fan, that he'd accept the position and we didn't really sell it to him? Maybe he saw what a mess we are in and decided not to risk his reputation by taking the job? It was good to hear Gilligan honestly saying that we had offered the role and it was knocked back (considering some refused to believe this had happened) but left us with more questions than answers. The time taken to secure this crucial appointment is an embarrassing episode in a long line of embarrassing episodes for this and previous boards (no matter how toy look at it).
-
We had and offered the guy from St Mirren the role and he declined. We then appear to have not had a 2nd choice and had to restart the entire process. Gilligan said as much in RTV interview when he took charge a few weeks ago.
-
Good to hear / see communication from the club, but little of note/ content in the statement. As @Frankie says, the clubs continued inability to fill key positions is very concerning. The time taken is completely unacceptable for an operation/club of our size and standing. I wonder what to expect when the financial results are released and what key topics will be discussed at the AGM (probably how hot / cold the pies are). From the outside, the club looks a mess.
-
Agreed but all new potential external investors won't necessarily fall into "spiv group". An example is the guy investing in Hearts. We have to tread carefully in shark infested waters, but without investment in the correct people on and off the pitch (and infrastructure etc) we are doomed to more years / decades of failure and abject misery.
-
Cost cutting? Rangers FC an unattractive employee? Weak leaders? Combination of all of the above?

I don't hack, that's for amateurs. Subliminal messages and Jedi mind tricks more my cup of tea. -

Sitting in hotel room surrounded by "chips" and Root Beer. Just some heavy rain and a wee gust of wind, right? -
Hearing an announcement on his replacement will be given in 9-12 months.
