This is a point that bothers me - not getting at you or your wife Mike, but we have to be carefull on where we draw the line between traditions and sectarianism. Now, some are quite clear (like FTP etc) but others aren't so black and white. Cammy F

That is my point exactly - this pathetic 'little scotlander' attitude where we measure our Scottishness on how much we hate England. Or measure our Scottishness on if we follow Scotland wearing kilts, see you jimmy hats and Jimmy Hill Is A Poof t-shirts. This is where it gets Craptic-esque as they hate us more than they love Craptic.... Cammy F

Oh I want them to lose every game they play but I wouldn't post on forums cheering on DUFC, Falkirk, Hearts etc. I wouldn't go out and buy the tops of every SPL club and wear them whenever Craptic were playing them. Firstly tho, I want Rangers to win EVERY GAME - that is my primary concern. Cammy F

We have so many old songs that could easily be updated, especially regarding players - instead of the boring 'these only one (insert name here)' we could sing things like - 'He's Blue, He's White, He's fuckin dynamite Chrissy Burke' 'Boyb, Boyd, Krissy,Krissy Boyd, he gets the ball and scores a goal Krissy Krissy Boyd' 'Super Dado, Super Dado' We should also be promoting Rangers songs like The Blue Sea Of Ibrox, Follow Follow (the correct version), The Famous Glasgow Rangers, Wolvetherhampton Town, Rangers Over Here, Rally Round The Flag, Simply The Best, The Blue Flag, It's Rangers For Me, Have You Seen The Glasgow Rangers..... The real trouble that we have is that apart from TBO (and associated groups in other stands) nobody sings at Ibrox apart for OF games and European ties. And when they do sing, they only appear to sing The Billy Boys, The Sash and No Surrender.... Cammy F

Spik3d - I think we need to be careful here tho. Although the Orange Order has been linked with Rangers, the OO AREN'T bigoted and their pledge dictates that we should be tolerant of other religions and cultures. Singing FUCK THE POPE and Fenian Blood is being tolerant of other religions and cultures no matter what we think of them. Our heritage has always been pro-Rangers, pro-Church Of Scotland (and pro-OO at a puch) and pro-Union. It has never been anti-anything. This is where we have to change. For some reason, our pro-stances have become anti-stances and we need to revert back to being pro-Rangers especially. The world of football has moved on, it isn't the working mans game now - it is a global market in a very PC world and we need to adapt or face having no club to support. Lets get back to supporting the team then maybe we can introduce pro-Unionist songs etc. Cammy F
-
Gribz - So do you then support every team in the SPL apart from Craptic then? Cammy F

Can't agree with that Calscot - Ibrox has hosted many an Orange Order and Church gatherings over the years. However, this is been diluted over the years as church membership has hit an all time low. Another culturial viewpoint is that Rangers did and to some degree still do have a Conservitive and Unionist heritage - this was backed up in the Rangers Monthly where historians found documents detailing the boards support of Conservitives and Unionists. As for the signing policy this is also a myth started by our enemies. Rangers had many many Catholics playing for us over the years and in the very eraly years it was common for players to move from Craptic to Rangers and vice versa. Would you say Craptic had an Catholic heritage or any anti-protestant one? Until the 1990's Craptic had not one non-Catholic director and refused to promote Danny McGrain, Jock Stein etc due to their religion. In fact, one of the Lisbon Lions claimed that his nickname, when not playing to his best was simply Orange Bastard...... It is fair to say that we once did have a Presbyterian heritage but would agree that this is no longer the case Cammy F

Gribz, are you Scottish or do you have a split nationality? Paraguay, Sweden T&T and everyone who plays England? Tell me, do you support Hearts, Dundee United, Killie etc when they play Craptic? This debate really gets to me - I am Scottish an proud of that fact but don't express this in an anti-English way. However, in doing so, some people claim that I am not Scottish and an English wannbe. The only time I want England (Wales and NI) to get beaten is when they are playing Scotland. Cammy F

Yip that indeed is correct. Went to the Falkirk store on Saturday and got a very helpfull guy who has ordered me a sponserless shirt and it'll be delivered this week Cammy F
-
Yip, on that form Englands won't get anywhere in the WC - they will have to improve dramactically. In saying that, all you want from your opening game is 3 points and they got that without much problem TBH and were helped by Sweden failing to overcome 10 man T&T Cammy F

Celtic to stage Scotland Euro 2008 opener
CammyF replied to Beattie's topic in General Football Chat
Am I the only one that is happy that Rangers didn't apply for this game? I certainly don't want Rangers haters (SFA and sections of the TA) using OUR 5-star satdium. As for The Towers, it isn't even a 4-star stadium according to UEFA's currently listings Cammy F -
But Calscot, the hymns we would be singing are Christian hymns and that would be offensive to the non-Christians in Scotland... UEFA would ban Onward Christian Soldiers (marching as to war) as it depicts ancient battles (which outdate The Boyne) and celebrate Christian slaugthers of non-Christians Cammy F

Frankie, what we need now is leadership from the above mentioned fan groups and more importantly the club. In banning the Billy Boys (and FTPing) Ranger should now issue a second statement, signed by TBO and RST etc saying that whilst these songs are banned, we will no longer accept people attacking our heritage - by that I mean Rangers saying that no other songs or flags will be banned. David Murray has allowed this to happen as he has copntinually allowed the press to stick the boot into us. Even the dead aren't safe from the parasites in the media. David Murray MUST now state this this is the line in the sand and that any journalist that wrongly slates Rangers, prints half-truths and lies will be punished. What us the fans need to do is unite - as our enemies want us divided. But IMO its RFC and the fans groups that need to lead and unite us, they have the 'membership' and the outlets to be the driving force along with the club. Cammy F

I fear that it will take Rangers being docked points (or worse punishment) for it to stop completely. I hope I am wrong, but I can see this song being belted out next season and UEFA inflicting serious punishments. I have stopped singing the 'Billy Boys' for over 2 years now and sing 'Hello Hello we are the Rangers boys, hello hello you'll know us by our noise. We follow Glasgow Rangers our hearts both strong and true, for we are the people who cheer the boys in blue'.... However, given this statement, I'll even refrain from singing that version. Cammy F
-
The reason the tune has been banned is that even if 95% of the Rangers fans sing the official version, there will be some who continue to sing the 'up to our kness in fenien blood'. Remember about 3 years ago we stopped playaing simply the best due to the add-ons, it has reappeared since without the add-ons. Maybe, just maybe the 'Rangers Boys' can make a comeback - but at the moment far too many would contiune to sing the line above leading Rangers to be PUNISHED .... Do we really want Rangers to be docked points, have stands closed or thrown out of Europe? Do we really love a song about a neo-nazi gangster more than we love Rangers? BTW, you can continue to sing the Billy Boys in your house, in the pub, on your RSC, in your car, on the streets - just not at Ibrox. Cammy F

Rangers have been ordered to make a public announcement at all of their home games prohibiting the chanting of the song "Billy Boys". The instruction comes from Uefa as one of a number of directives aimed at stamping out sectarianism. Rangers were fined £13,000 for the sectarian behaviour of their fans at a recent Champions League match. And Rangers chairman David Murray has already met with supporters groups to make sure their fans comply. The Rangers Assembly, fanzine and website Follow Follow and the Supporters Trust were all represented at the Murray Park meeting on Thursday evening. Murray said: "These supporters' groups represented should be applauded for coming forward in recognition of the importance of this issue. All parties are united in a bid to silence the minority that continue to tarnish the reputation of Rangers Football Club Rangers statement "I am delighted at the progress we made. "Over the last two years, the club has strove fervently under the banner of 'Pride over Prejudice' working with the authorities to impose indefinite and lifetime bans. "I look forward in the coming weeks to implementing some of the actions that were discussed. "It is absolutely clear to all concerned that all supporters need to commit to silencing the minority." The meeting followed receipt of Uefa's written grounds for fining Rangers following the tie against Villarreal. Uefa also ordered Rangers to "anounce measurable targets in order to reduce sectarian behaviour amongst its supporters". And it instructed the Glasgow club to prove the success of its measures through statistics communicated to the public. Rangers have warned that their fans must comply to "avoid sanctions being imposed or expulsion from European competition altogether". "A positive debate was held at Murray Park and all parties are united in a bid to silence the minority that continue to tarnish the reputation of Rangers Football Club," it was stated on the club website. A joint committe has been formed between the club and supporters groups. And a statement from the fans' bodies read: "The message now could not be clearer that the spotlight is upon the supporters and the club and it is their duty to work together to stamp out the minority who are damaging the reputations of all those connected with Rangers Football Club. "Not only does this small minority tarnish the reputation of Rangers but of Scottish football and our society in general and hopefully anyone who is interested in Scottish football will work with us in assisting to eradicate this behaviour." -------------------------------------------------- There you have it folks, backed by TBO, RST, Follow Follow, RSA - Murray is going to act on fans who continue to sing The Billy Boys. Also, what else can't be clearer is if we continue to sing The Billy Boys UEFA will act and we will be BANNED from European touriments. Cammy F
