So teams that cannot string 3 passes together routinely get to the last 16 of the Champions League and get knocked out by one of the best teams in the compition that year? A team that only kncoked us out on away goals (one which was off-side) and a team that we played off the pitch in their own back-yard? It is not denied, but even on here it is argued against - even you were saying that his 2 league titles were lucky and against shit opposion. AM spent around £10M in his 4 years, he brought in over £30M in the same period as he was forced to sell out best players (to bring down the wage bill). No manager could live with having to sell their best players year in, year out and replacing them with inferior players. IIRC, every close season AM lost around 8-10 players and signed around 6-8 to replace them. You should look at the videos of DA's seasons at Rangers - watch BF play in a midfield 4 that included players like Gio, Albertz, Reyna etc and watch him in Europe, especially against Laverkausen (sp) away. The watch AM's first season and a half and watch the influence BF has on Rangers and on experienced players like RDB - it was a joy to watch. We may be stuck with him, but that shouldn't stop us trying to get him to right his wrongs, to get him to push Rangers to where we belong. Cammy F

That is exactly what I am saying. Everything that David Murray has done in his time at Rangers is 'short-term'. Have you ever heard him preaching about 5 year plans (we had a 3 year plan but ditched it after 18 months)? Have you ever heard David Murray preaching about the benefits for having your own in-house Youth Development? David Murray has sold off every arm of Rangers FC that was making a profit. The Ticketing Centre (to one of his companies), the catering (to one of his companies) , Youth Development, The Albion (to his son for £1), merchindise etc etc. Less than a decade ago, Rangers were in the black, the leaders off and on the field in Scotland and in 1993 were more profitable and successful (in Europe) than Mancherster United. Now, I know that SKY TV had a huge impact, but that is where we were at. Our rivals at that time were at rock bottom, they were finishing 3rd, 4th and 5th in the SPL and were minutes from closing down. To David Murrays eternal shame, they are now in better shape off and on the field than we are. Now, DM's supporters will tell me that he brought us Gazza, Luadrup, 9-in-a-row. I'd argue that WE (the fans) brought all that - we have invested much more of our money in Rangers than David Murray has. Where was DM's long-term plans then? And more importantly, where are they now? Cammy F

For the first time in my 25 years of actively following Rangers, I have decided that I cannot afford to attend the Rangers v DAFC game on Wednesday. I am just back from my holidays, have just paid £70 pounds for 2 OF tickets and £60 for 3 Molde tickets and really cannot afford to another £50 pounds for tickets / travel to EEP on Wednesday. If I had received tickets via the credit card scheme I would have gone, but I have just found out that I was unlucky in the ballot. So, its BBC for me on Wednesday eveningâ¦.. Cammy F

I would argue that Campbell Ogilvie was the visionary at Rangers. It was CO who managed to get the CL instigated within UEFA and was highly regarded through-out European football. It still pi55es me off that he was sacked and the Sun Tan Kid is still at Rangers. Cammy F

He justifies it by not securing the managers 'first choice' signings and by complaining that the new Ulster Scots flag should not be flown at Ibrox / Rangers games as the Crown and Orange Lillies are 'overtly loyalist'.... Cammy F

Muscle strain - as I said above, it was reported on FF yesterday that both Clement and Prso were at Ross Hall yesterday. Today, a guy who has been proven correct in the past has stated that Clement is out for up to six weeks - no news on Prso. As for Clement being our best player so far, that is hard to argue with, but I'd say that hendami has been our most consistant player. However, looks like we are going to be thinner than normal in the midfield on Saturday. Cammy F

Sorry to be the bringer of bad news, but I have heard that Clement is out for up to 6 weeks - look out for an annoucement after todays AGM. Cammy F

So pointing out that AM won the double then the treble in his first season and half at Rangers is showing too much loyalty? This isnââ?¬â?¢t loyalty, it is fact. In some eyes, AM was the worst manager in our history, yet he was able to match Craptics 2nd most successful manager for honours. He also managed to guide Rangers to the last 16 of the Champions League, which given our horrendous European record of the last 30 years was some achievement. Yet, all of the above wasnââ?¬â?¢t enough for some fans. Stating that I understand the constraints and restrictions AM worked under and understanding that the man tried to resign 3 times, only to continue in his post to allow DM ââ?¬Ë?breathing spaceââ?¬â?¢ isnââ?¬â?¢t loyalty, it is fact. Lets remember that AM could have made a lot of money for telling his side of the story, but the man kept his mouth shut and kept his dignity in tact. As for Barry Ferguson, he hasnââ?¬â?¢t been fit since he returned to Rangers. He has played (rightly or wrongly) thro injuries and has delayed an operation to try and help Rangers. And how do we the fans thank him for that? We want to ââ?¬Ë?dump himââ?¬â?¢. Given time and games, BF will return to the player he was a few seasons ago. BF was a stand-out for Blackburn in the EPL (read the reports posted by Frankie from Blackburn websites) so the SPL will hold no fears for Fergie (if he is allowed to play his natural game and has support in midfield). Saying all of the above, I also understand the factors that are holding PLG back. He is one of the best coaches in Europe but he isnââ?¬â?¢t being given the backing and support he needs / deserves. This was demonstrated in the summer when we ââ?¬Ë?missed outââ?¬â?¢ on his first choice players. He is also facing the same problems as previous managers in that our Youth Development is a farce ââ?¬â?? we havenââ?¬â?¢t had enough money put into this, it isnââ?¬â?¢t structured properly and we have continually rotated the coaching staff. During the summer, I naively believed David Murray when he stated that getting PLG was the beginning of a new exciting chapter for Rangers Football Club ââ?¬â?? the new manager was in place, Murray had many financial packages in place (only one developed) and stupidly, I believed that this meant the manager would have some funds available and the Youth Set-Up would receive the finance and restructuring it required. PLG could take Rangers to a new level, but this wonââ?¬â?¢t happen with Murray in charge. We need a board who will support the manager correctly, restructure of Youth Set-Up, back the club and fans against our enemies, continue to grow Rangers financially and unite us under the Rangers family. Yet I am accused of being short-term and fickle, if I am, what does that make our ââ?¬Ë?Custodianââ?¬â?¢? Cammy F

Heard that Dado and Clement were both at Ross Hall Hospital yesterday for scans and both are very doubtful for Saturday. Add that to Bardsely being suspended and the likelyhood that J-Rod will be as well (after the anti-Rangers SFA Video panel sit) we are really struggling.... Cammy F
-
Firstly, where is the money coming from to buy them? Secondly, who drops out to accomidate them? Fergie? Hendami? Clement? Burke? Buffel? Are you seriously saying that Brown and Thomson are better than the above? As for using Murray and Riorden as examples, off course you can. Hibs have development a great team ethos and spirit and it appears this cannot be recaptured when players leave Hibs. Murray was Hibs captain when we bought him and he hasn't delivered in a Rangers jersey. Riorden was being chased by 4-5 clubs including Rangers and yet hasn't even broke into the Craptic team (I hear he is struggling with training). In short, if we do have £4 million to spend on players, there are other positions that need filled before midfield (i.e centre-half and a right back) Cammy F

Read my reply again - I said all his signings that are playing in the first team are all experienced and some have international experience..... Smith is in his 2nd full season and has played CL football. Bardsely played around 20 games for Man U last season and played in the CL. Burke is a full international now and in his 3rd season with Rangers. Cammy F

Off course I do - just don't think that he has the right tools at his disposal to be a major success (just like AM TBH). Dick Advocaat was the last Rangers manager to have anything like the 'tools' and IMO we were to quick to sack him. If we haf allowed him to oversee the Youth Set Up for a few years, we may have had success. AM was a stop gap - he knew it and we knew it as DM was downsizing and we were close to closure (closer than most of us think BTW). PLG is an exciting prospect, but due to MB and DM he wasn't allowed to purchase his 'first choice' players and we still have no Youth Development and DM is stripping the club bare so he can sell up. As I have said thro-out this debate, the on-field problems are a tiny % of the real problems and are a direct knock-on effect form the off-field ones. PLG *may* improve the team short-term, but without 100% support from the board, we will not improve long-term. Cammy F

Just read on another forum that the Sun Tan Kid currently draws a yearly salary of £527,000 from Rangers... Jesus H Christ.. Cammy F

What run in Europe did they have in the Helicopter Sunday season? Maybe played 'better football' but couldn't amass more points than we did.... IIRC, they got 1 less point than we did.... Different memories for me that season then - IMO if it weren't for BF that season we wouldn't have been in a position to win the league on the last day of the season. Cammy F
-
When have I said that? I have supported all our managers who have lowered the average age of the side / squad. The only player I have lambasted for being 'raw' is Svensson. I firmly believe that I am correct - at the moment, he is not 'first team' material. After some coaching, reserve outings, etc he may well be. All PLG's sigings that are being played in the first team have experience, some at international level - so I don't understand what you are getting at. Cammy F
-
And the same can be said for PLG's signings after Sunday's performance. Two goals from a 2nd division reject and a centre-half from the same division shackled our £1.8 million pounds superstar... I don't know what your comparison is - this isn't a Rover 400 compared to a Ford Focus, this is Rangers Football Club - the same club it was last season and we still have the same problems. Maybe if my gear box kept breaking in my cars, I would think that maybe the gear box wasn't to blame, maybe it was the driver that was to blame.... How have you proved me wrong? We have lost 1 game and drawn 3 - I said that this was down to us not scoring enough goals - against DUFC we could and should have scored 10 goals - if we had converted half those clear-cut chances - we would have won 5-2. Same story at Killie. So how am I wrong? We'll have 2 games a week from now to the end of the season due to Europe, Internationals, league games etc. This is not an excuse for not having a settled team. Nor for players having 'burn-out'. Try going to your work and asking for time out because you are 'burnt-out' and see what your Boss says. Yes, I'm a fickle fan - thats why I have had a season ticket at Ibrox for 25 consecutive years - that is why I have followed Rangers thro think and thin and that is why I'd still be there week in week out if we were in the 2nd division - I am extremely fickle me.... I have already stated that I would give up 3-5 years of success if it meant Rangers were to fix all our problems. The trouble is that they aren't - we are still a rudderless ship floundering in the water and the on-field problems are only a tiny % of our troubles at the moment. I wanted all the money we have to be put into Youth Development - very short-term of me, He also needs the tools around him to succeed and under DM he will never have that (money to buy is 'first choice' players and a working, financed and successful Youth Set-Up - like he had at Lyon). Cammy F

What, taking pain-killing injections and playing thro a painfull injury and helping your team (thro great performances and goals) is making excuses? I wish that some of our other players would make the same excuses instead of hiding in the treatment room. Off course I wouldn't, there aren't many Rangers players (past or present) that in the same class as Gazza What team? The team that had to beat AFC on the last game of the season? Or the team that had to come back from 1-0 down at home to AFC to claim 8 in a row? Look, all league victories are the same - you win the league, you are the best team in the league - end of story. No they weren't - if they were better than us, they would have won the league - they didn't we did... Cammy F
-
So the year we won the league on the last game of the season didn't count? BF played thro injury, taking pain killing injections that meant he was physically sick before, after and sometimes during games, doesn't count. As for 'poor opponents' surely that applies to the vast majority of our 9-in-a-row league titles? Or is AM the only Rangers manager to triumph over 'poor opponents'? Cammy F

Yip - if he had studiued DVD's from last season, the one thing that would have hit him harder than most was the fact that a 2 man midfield doesn't work in the SPL. I know this is his preferred formation and that it worked in France, but it isn't working here (as yet - and in all honesty doesn't look like working here). But at Lyon, PLG had a Chairman that backed him 100%, gave him cash to spend on players when required and they also had an established youth set-up that delivered players year after year. PLG doesn't have that at Ibrox. Cammy F
-
But by then it was too late - he should have changed it after Hibs took the lead as it was obvious we were struggling. It took us 68 minutes to have a shot on goal - 68 fookin minutes.... No I am not baldy and I won't pull it out - I have witnessed Rangers in worse situations than this and frankly, the off field problems are still more of a concern to this Bear than the current on-field performances. Cammmy F

I know, but surely if its good for the goose its good for gander. It is worth remembering that Eck was hugely successful in hist first 2 seasons - a cup double (whilst the league was already lost) followed by a domestic treble and this still wasn't good enough for some fans... Cammy F
-
Cannot agree - BF carried Rangers for a few seasons, played on whilst UNFIT and drove us to at least 2 SPL victories. His positive contributions far outweigh his 'negative' contributions. I would drop him and put in in the reserves until he is fully fit - then he would be an automatic choice for me. I think last season proved that you can not play in teh SPL with only 2 midfiled players. Fergie was outstanding for us when played in a 4-4-2 or a 4-3-3 formation - this allowed him to dictate play, burst into the box and score goals. Will PLG alter his preferred 4-2-3-1 formation? I very much doubt it. Cammy F
-
Not by sections of the fans he wasn't.... Cammy F
-
Nothing apart from a resounding victory! Alright, I'd take a scrappy 1-0 but we MUST win this game for varying reasons. We must keep in touch with them, we must install fear into them and we must install confidence in ourselves - and only a rsounding victory will achieve this. Cammy F
-
Aye, great plan - dump the best midfield player in Scotland (when fit and on his game) for 2 Hibs players who are untested at this level and who would cost around £4M to bring in... Brown is a hot-head who would be in the stand more than on the pitch. Thomson is a talent but like I say, untried and untested at the top level. It is worth noting that whilst players look great at Hibs, they hardly set the heather on fire when the move on. Can you tell me who, if anyone has been a success recently when they have moved from Hibs? Riorden? Murray?..... Cammy F
