    Game

I would urge all Rangers fans to boycott this game - it will be a second string anyway and given the way Clyde FC have handled the Graham Roberts situation, I do not think they are deserving of our money. Cammy F
  2. Andy, it is a very interesting post and comment - and It'll be interesting to read other posters thoughts on the topic However, I still don't see how anyone would equate an Orange Sash, or even the OO and Rangers to bigotry. It is a thorny subject, but to move forward, we can no longer ignore this and have to have an open and frank discussion about the links between Rangers, loyalism, unionism and Presbyterianism. In fact, if we were to truely and openly celebrate the positives of Rangers, loyalism, unionism and Presbyterianism and educate the fans about the positives, it would spead up the eradication of the anti-catholic stuff that currently infests some of our support. For instance, if you were to read the pledges of the OO you would see that members are urged to respect all other religions. In an ideal world, religion would be seperate from football, but this isn't an ideal world and all over the world, football clubs are supported due to political, religous and racial believes as well as footballing ones. Also, lets not forget, or let anyone taint what a humble beginning we came from. We were established by a group of friends who wanted to play football and decided to start a football club which is turned into one of the biggest clubs in the world. Cammy F
  3. Andy, what is sectarian about the Orange Order? Whether Rangers should be linked with the OO is another arguement. Ibrox was once a regular venue for OO meetings etc (along with Church / Boys Brigade and athletics meetings) so there is a 'connection'. As long as the exhibition shows that the religous links are being eradicated (as religion is sadly from society) and that whilst both clubs used to have a link with one religion, both are taking strides to become inclusive (well, we are ). I can not believe that this country is so quick to apologise and distance itself from relgion. Scotland was at the forefront of religous freedom and liberty, this is something that we should celebrate rather than apologise for (however, whether this should be linked to football is another question). Cammy F
  4. Far to far down the pecking order at Ibrox and its obvious that PLG doesn't rate the lad. From the little I have seen of him, he always appeared to be carrying a little extra weight and when given the chance last season didn't really do much (apart for his goal in Porto). Hope he does well at Motherwell Cammy F
  5. If only it were that easy - what will happen is the band and TBO will get this sorted, will get singing up, only for McIntyre and his foot soldiers in Rock Unsteady to throw us all out. The rest of the stadium will prefer to sit back and moan about the football on show and the lack of atmosphere and only break their silence to sing the billy boys..... Ibrox is a morgue and has been for a few years now - hopefully the PLG era will remeby this, but I think it is too late, there are to many people at Ibrox who don't want to 'support' the team (singing) for whatever reason. Cammy F
  6. There is a thread about this on FF and it appears that the band are learning this song and a few people have tried to write some lyrics around it.. http://followfollow.proboards86.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=1152353610 It's a catchy, fantastic chant that we should be looking to adopt as soon as possible. I just hope that our support embrace this and get singing / chanting and bouncing.... Cammy F - Sos Cagon, Sos Cagon Loyal RSC
  7. Aye, imagine the entire Rangers support arriving at Parkhead before the gates opened and indulging in our version of this fantastic song / chant whilst doing the bouncy Or, imagine The Copland Road stand rocking like the River fans in the 2nd video decked out in red, white and blue before, during and after an SPL game? And another video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7WUL9faZ5dE&mode=related&search=river%20plate%20sos%20cagon If only... Cammy F
  8. Imagine if we could get a song as catchy as this, and get Ibrox rockin' like this - Respect to the River Plate fans - BTW, this video is of them waiting to get IN to the football another video of them INSIDE the ground singing Ole, Ole, Ole - absolutely fantastic support. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ftdzwlA36s&mode=related&search=river%20plate%20sos%20cagon Cammy F
  9. Not argueing that he wasn't a good signing, but in hindsight, Ally / Hateley were the best partnership by a country mile. In saying that, I can still remember the look on the Tims faces when MoJo scored a late winner at Ibrox..... Cammy F

    Ricksen?

Technically, he was WS gave BF his debut, played him as a striker but then appeared not to rate BF and kept in on the bench / in the reserves. BF was going to leave Rangers to progress his career until DA had a talk to him before taking over Rangers officially and got BF to sign a new 5-year deal. Cammy F
  11. At the time, they were just looking for a stroy..... Think it was to ballance things up as they had the stroy of Tims battering MoJo's auld man and wanted something to show us up in a bad light as well. Obviously, with season ticket sales and attandences rising they couldn't run with fans staying away (there were fans who stayed away, but in those days we actually did have a waiting list for season tickets!). Cammy F
  12. Oh it doesn't - but lets not forget that The Daily Record and The Sun paid people to stand at the side of Ibrox and burn 'season tickets' and scarves etc. Cammy F
  13. Actually, season ticket sales and average attendances went up after MoJo signed.... Cammy F

    Ricksen?

I totally agree with that part of your statement, but can't agree that it applies to FR. He should be sacked ASAP. Cammy F

    Ricksen?

Given the McClelland incident, that appears to be the case. However, it was DM that underminded AM and Jmc on that occassion by refusing to sack FR at that point. Cammy F

    Ricksen?

That is my point - if WS had sacked Gazza, would you have been as at ease with the decision? What I am getting at is that as fans, it is easy to take sides in all matters. FR isn't an intgrial part of the team, Gazza was and to an extent, his off-field behaviour was excused and tollerated (and I'm as guilty as anyone). Where, FR's aren't. IMO, a club like Rangers should take no nonsence from ANY player, but the reality is some what different - Amo was found guilty of racially abusing a player and was only given a fine and suspension. DF was jailed yet received support from the majority of the fans. And the list of Gazza's faults is endless. Personally, I would have sacked / sold the lot of them, but I am old fashioned and maybe a little to 'hard' when it comes to what seperates being a Ranger from being just a footballer and just a football fan. Ricksen?

As he should - but like I said, what would the reaction have been if it was WS and Gazza? Gazza had more 'final warnings' then most, and was lucky to escape jail for domestic violence. I don't want FR anywhere the team this season, but that is down to my opinion that he is an absolute nightmare of a football player. This latest incident shows how selfish the man is, but again, that is something that could have been labeled at Gazza also. Anyone who brings down the name of RFC deserves to be punished, but when Duncan Ferguson landed in jail, most Rangers fans backed / supported him. Cammy F
  18. The earliest WC I can remember was 1974 where Scotland had a fantastic qualifying campgain and were unlucky in the WC itself. In fact, Billy Bremner missed a sitter in the game against Brazil that would have seen us qualify As for this years final, not really the spectical that we all wanted - The Italians were very good in the first half but dire during the 2nd half and the extra-time periods. They did exicute their pens well. As fo ZZ, what a terrible way to end a brilliant career and no matter what The Matrix said to him, their is no excusing his actions. IMO - a very poor WC final to end a very poor WC Cammy F

    Ricksen?

Chris, but form / talant / skill shouldn't be the defining character when it comes to disipline. Cammy F

    Ricksen?

Whilst not condoning FR's behaviour or criticising PLG's actions, how many of us would have reacted the same way if WS and sacked Gazza for any of his wild antics? I am not a fan of FR and had hoped that last season would spell the end of his Rangers career. AM tried to give him the chop, but David Murray fearing a substantial loss persuaded AM to keep Ricksen. This was after an incident in Greece where Rickson pushed John McClelland into a pool - McClelland can't swin and had to be rescued. Both JMc and AM wanted Rickson sacked, DM talked them round. However, like I said above, Gazza was as guilty, if not more so than Rickson and I think we would have been up in arms if he had been sacked. This is an unsavoury incident that I hope concludes one way or another very soon - we don't have any substanstial funds to pay him off and or sign a replacement, so it may be that this is a 'final warning' to FR Cammy F
  21. Agreed that it was initially a good signing as it put the Tims back a few years, but given Ally's scoring record, before, during and after MoJo was sold on, I think the McCoist Hateley partnership was a better bet than MoJo Ally or MoJo and Hateley. Also, I'll never forget (or even forgive?) MoJo for headbutting Stuart Munro during a Skol Cup Final and his actions directed at the Rangers fans that afternoon. In saying that, he got my support whilst playing from Rangers but in hindsight (and yeah, its a great thing), I believe his signing could have resulted in us missing out on one of the greatest goal-scoring partnerships in our history. Cammy F
  22. I phone home from a 'lads holiday' in Kavos from my old man to inform me that Rangers had signed Mo Johnston. I didn't believe him and continued drinking myself into obvillion. It wasn't until I saw a copy of the Sun a few days later that I realised that it was true... The day that rocked / shocked Scottish Football? A good or bad signing? Discuss.....! Cammy F
  23. As someone who used to religiously purchase both the match-day programme and the Rangers News (I have programmes dating back to the 50s and 60s as well as most home programmes from the 80s and 90s) and Rangers News (I have most editions from 77 until the early-mid 90s), I would like to see both publications give space, if not all control to the fans. This would mean the Programme and News would raise and address the issues that currently face our club. Currently, neither tackles any issues that we face and with no disrespect meant, I for one do not want to read about someones dog who barks the theme tune to MOTD whilst wearing a Rangers top. Our club publications should be written by the fans, for the fans. It should address topics like the recent UEFA investigation / fine and allow the fans a real insight as to what went on there and what the club are planning to do about this in the short, medium and long term. They should also carry in-depth interviews with the new manager and his staff along with the captain and players. The Chairman should also be questioned regularly on things like debt, transfer budget and process, the youth development fiasco etc, etc, etc. I am sure most fans are more interested in the above than they are of what Burke and Boyd prefer for breakfast and what was the last tune that they downloaded. The Rangers Historian is a sporadic publication that gives great insight to the history of our club and IMO, would be ideal for the programme and News. Robert McElroy knows more about our club than most and would be ideal for writing his thoughts etc in the official publications. Same goes with fanzine contributors, these guys are fans and talk about issues that are fans minds. The official web-site also needs an overhaul and The Rangers Historian MUST have a place on any official on-line site. Where better to give visitors an in-sight to our great club? In saying that, they must also remove the registration to the site as it is a hindrance and no doubt stops casual browsers (who arte potential fans) from easily accessing information. Cammy F
  24. Aye, but Rangers are my team... I seriously thought that the standard of play was rotten and added to the play-acting and cheating, it added up to be the worst WC that I can remember. Cammy F
  25. Didn't watch many games as I thought the standard was VERY POOR - maybe the worst WC that I can remember... Cammy F
