Glad to hear Frankie as the situation is an utter disgrace and reflects badly on RFC - especially at this time of the season where we are welcoming fans from all over Europe. Cammy F

As the new season approaches, and everything off and on the field appear to stay the same (Groundhog Day for us Bears) and gets harder and harder to unearth new, imaginative Rangers related subjects to ââ?¬Ë?rant aboutââ?¬â?¢. You can only write so many words on the financial mismanagement of David Murray, on the woeful negotiation skills of Martin Bain, on the shambolic Rangers ââ?¬Ë?PRââ?¬â?¢ or on the mediaââ?¬â?¢s perpetual attacks on anything remotely linked to RFC. I would love to start the new season ranting about our new and exciting signings, but deep down, I think we all realise that none of our new players are truly exciting ââ?¬â?? they all look decent professionals who may (hopefully) improve our team, squad, results etc. I would love to wax lyrically about the rejuvenated Rangers squad, the new found hunger for success from our board who were pushing us in a new and exciting direction. However, as said above, weââ?¬â?¢ve all grown sick and tired and a tad disillusioned by Mr Moonbeam over the last 3-5 years. So, it looks like the opening rant of the season is yet another tale of woe emanating from our club. On Tuesday I waltzed along to Ibrox for the first home pre-season friendly and for the first time in my life, I was hit by the fact that how filthy Ibrox is. Now, I donââ?¬â?¢t mean that it just needs a lick of paint and we arenââ?¬â?¢t talking about ââ?¬Ë?shabbyââ?¬â?¢ here. Tardy doesnââ?¬â?¢t quite describe it either. Ibrox is absolutely filthy. The toilets are stinking (and not just of stale smoke), most of the seats in my area are covered in traces of food, drink and bird shit. The ground under the seats is covered in remnants of food and drink, chewing gum and God Knows what else. Now, having looked through some Rangers websites, this appears to ring true for throughout the stadium. Basically, Ibrox looks like it hasnââ?¬â?¢t been cleaned for sometime. We all pay a hefty price to go to Ibrox, be it through a season ticket or on a match by match basis and I think the least we can ask for is to watch the game from a clean seat, be able to place programmes and fanzines under our seats without them getting filthy and go to the toilet in comfort. This is just another tale of woe and another example of how our club is being run at the moment and nothing will change until we get rid of the current regime. Cammy F ââ?¬â?? Agreed, but only in the first 65 minutes - when we 'reverted' to 4-5-1 we lost all shape and any chance of winning the game. On the 'eve' of your anniversary as well, tut tut  Can we trade? I have a problem in my eye and have been attending hospital for the last week and a bit getting injections directly into my eye, but the pain killers I've been given to counter this are awesome....!!! Del. Think we'll all  to that Cammy F

Yes, both Chairman and manager confirmed that a deal was 'close' - football speak for 'its a done deal'. Then, for some reason they added another £500,000 and then the deal was 'off'. As for valuation, £2M pounds for a player who has yet to be capped for his country, has shown only 'potential' is way over the odds. Look at Ajax last night, they had two of the best players on the park, both cost less than £1M over the summer. Cammy F

Thats not strictly true - we met Killies demands and had an offer accepted last Thursday, only for Killie to up their valuation by another £500,000. As I said on another thread, Killie ACCEPTED (then declined) an offer from us little over 6 months ago of £400,000. That being the case, why should we have gone in with say a £2M pound bid this time around? Am I the only one wondering why Killie have only gone public on OUR bids, but not on the 'other bids' they have on the table? Or, could it be that we are the ONLY club who have bid for the player? If Killie have other bids from other clubs, let them deal with these clubs. We are right to walk away from this deal - ball is in their (and the players court). Killie are playing a dangerous game as if the player and his advisors are to be believed, Rangers are the only club he is willing to talk to. Cammy F

I don't know if its tax or not, but the Whittaker deal will not be announced (or completed, depending on who you believe) until August 1st (or after). Most Hibbees that I know all say that the deal has been completed and Whittaker is a 'Rangers player'. Cammy F

No, I think WS will resort to a rigid 4-4-2 - this will mean Fergie, Thomson and Hendami fighting it out for the middle 2 slots (all three will play away European games and OF etc) with McCulloch, Adam, Beasley and Burke fighting it out for the wide positions. JCD will play 'off' Boyd, dropping deap to link up with the midfield. I would like to see Buffel given a run in the team as he is probably the most skilful player we have at Ibrox at the moment. Cammy F
-
Actually, Fergie did this in the first half - linked up well with JCD, Boyd and McCulloch. Was only when we made tactical changes at half-time did the 'something missing' become 'more evident'. In fact, it was Hendami who looked off the pace last night - I know it is only pre-season, but he looked sluggish all game. However, the signing of an attacking midfield player is a must - it would help Fergie (remember his link up play with RDB) as well as the forwards and the team in general. Cammy F
-
I believe that the 4-4-2 formation and personel on display last night will be what we go with at the start of the season. The only change would be Thomson in for either Adam (or Hendami). The positives from last night were the solid performance by the defence and especially Hutton and CC. JCD had a very decent Ibrox debut and showed that he will be an asset over the course of the season. He is stong, fast and linked up well with Boyd. IMO McCulloch had an outstanding game last night - he is solid, can tackle, is good in the air and linked up well with the strikers. Maybe he will justify the £2M price tag...... Another positive is that we looked a genuine threat from set-pieces. With Adam's pinpoint delivery and the ariel threat of Weir, JCD, CC, McCulloch, Hutton et al..... As others have said tho, still get the feeling that there is 'something' missing. Cammy F

But lets remember that Killie accepted (then declined) a £400,000 offer from us in January for SN. Cammy F
-
For what it is worth, I think were are blameless in this situation. On Thursday, Killie confirmed that the two clubs had verbally agreed a fee for SN and that the transfer was to take place over the weekend. We made the bid 'official' and Killie booted it out. This is an interesting saga as Killie have lied through their teeth from the beginning and were at it again over the weekend stating that 2 other clubs have made better offers than Rangers. Rangers are the only club to have put in any official bids and most importantly, Rangers are the only club the player is interested in talking to. Killie are ~£10M in debt and it is astonishing that they have turned down ~£1.5M pounds (the only offer on the table) for SN when we can sign him on a free transfer next season. As I stated when this saga began, don't be surprised if SN is still a Killie player this season. Cammy F

He is more comfortable as a midfield player rather than right back - Hibs use him as a right back, but played right midfield thro the ranks at Easter Road. Cammy F
-
I've said this previously, Thompson is more of a Nigal Spackman type player - one who quietly goes about his business, winning the ball and passing it to a team-mate, breaking up play etc. IF and its a HUGE IF we can secure an attacking right hand sided midfield player, then our squad would be complete and help bring the best out of BF. Look at his best seasons, they were whilst playing within a rigid 4-4-2 system under DA or under AMc when we played with RDB off the strickers giving BF opportunities to get forward and score goals. IMO WS tactics are too negative for BF - we will play 4-5-1 for the majority of games this season. 4-4-2 of McGregor Hutton CC Weir Papac/Smith Beasley Fergie Hendami/Thomson McCulloch JCD Boyd Cammy F
-
McGregor Hutton Weir Webster Papic Hendami Fergie Thompson Beasley Boyd JCD -------------- IMO, the above team is a long way short of being thought of as Champions material and will struggle to overcome a decent and well organised European outfit. We still require at least 5 new signings - a left back to cover Smith, a centre half, right midfield player, a quality/ creative midfield player and a centre forward. I don't mean 5 'squad players, but 3 'first teamers' and 2 squad players. Over to you flim-flan man Cammy F

Now thats harsh - SDM promised us moombeams of success and by golly gosh we'll get those moombeans, just you wait and see. Cammy F
-
Bain - How much are you looking for Naismith? Killie - Over 1 million Bain - OK we'll offer you 10 bob now and the rest in 10 bob installments Killie - we want over a milliom Bain - Christ on a stick, you guys drive a hard bargain - ok 20 bob up front, 20 bob installments, 10 'ginger bottles' a week and you can up the prices for our fans when the fill 3 of your 4 stands Killie - fook off suntan man Cammy F
-
So Bord/Killie should just accept any offer that Rangers make? Yeah, ok, cool Tell you what, I'll offer you a combined fee of £10K for your house and car - will you sell me them? Put it another way, you are selling your house and put it up at offers over £150K - someone comes along and offers you £75K, would you sell at that price or would you hold out for an offer that meats your evaluation? Cammy F
-
Oh, SDM believes in half of that motto - he has done a fantastic job of firstly accumulating debt and then laterly accumulating or money and assets. But speculating isn't in his nature. Shortermism thats the way forward.... Cammy F
-
SDM will be so proud of you - its that attitude, displayed by the majority of Rangers fans that allows SDM to rip the pi5h every transfer window. Cammy F
-
Its called business - if they said they only wanted £5M no one would have bid over £3.5M. They said they wanted £10 but in reality, a bid of over £5 would have sealed the deal. Don't blame Bordeaux, blame the shop-front we have conducting our transfers and the even bigger shop-front that employs Bain. Cammy F
-
Does anyone think that the ~£7M pounds we offered for the above will be spent on 'other targets'? Or do we believe that the net spend when the transfer window closes will stand, as it does now at ~£0 ???? If we do fail to sign anyone other than say the likes of Naismith and McCulloch will this be enough to tip the majority of fans over the edge? I would suggest not - not enough of those who turn up to Ibrox care enough to be honest. They'll happily go along and watch Rangers struggle to get 2nd in a two horse race and continue to await SDM to ride over the horizon on his white charger (are we allowed to say white charger in this post-sectarian country) and deliver his 'moon-beams of success'.... Cammy F
-
But he fits the bill - i.e he'll cost us nothing © Martin Bain School of Transfer negotiations. Cammy F
-
Or an unfit, untested and 'one big fooked up contract mess' loan from Wigan for 6 months. Rangers current transfer policy is like the wee Dutch boy who put his finger in the 'bursting bam'.... Cammy F
