.. now it is dangerious.... "RANGERS fans have been warned the Subway will be shutdown on Ibrox match days - unless they stop bouncing up and down in the carriages. Transport bosses fear dozens of supporters doing the bouncy' inside trains could spark a derailment. Now Strathclyde Partnership for Transport has appealed to the club to help them prevent a serious accident on the underground." http://eveningtimes.co.uk/news/displ...759365.0.0.php Cammy F

Pete, I used to support Scotland - was an ever present for many years - rans buses to Scotland home games, travelled to the Home internationals. My reasoning for stopping to support Scotland has NOTHING to do with my religion. What on earth gave you that idea. Oh wait, are you assuming that I don't support Scotland national team due to my relgion. You know what they say about assume......I actively follow the Scotland rugby and Cricket teams and IMO I have only ever attacked the TA when they have deserved it. As for being flexible and modern thinking, I am thanks very much - I am a total liberal with liberal ideas, believes and practice these non-stop. At least I don't assume to know why a certain person decided against 'supporting' the national team. Touche old bean.... Cammy F

BC II, in recent history (last 15 years) there have been 15 deaths after OF games. These tragic deaths aren't all 'catholics' killed by 'proddies' or vice versa, it is split 8 Rangers fans murdered, 7 Celtc. Now, I ask you if you can remember if any of these tragic deaths have made the press. I know of 3, all Celtc supporters. These figures were supplied by the Police for an OF debate sponsored by Nil By Mouth. Taking this season as a starting point, there has been 1 arrest in Scottish grounds for secterianism - the culprit was a Celtc supporter who was arrested at Aberdeen for singing a sectarian song. As I have stated, this season, your COE has taken it upon himself to invite various supporters groups to Celtc Park to ask their help in drowning out sectarian, political and offensive songs. Yet, he continues to deny that their is a problem when questioned by the media (and they tow the party line). Frankie offered up You Tube footage of Celtc games this season (home and away) where the majority of the crowd are indulging in anti-presbyterian and political songs. Rangers fans have indulged in sectarian singing this season - during the first game of the season at Inverness. This was righty investigated, reported and thankfully, overcome by the vast majority of Rangers fans. Tell my BC, why havent the exmaples of Celtc fans singing sectarian, political and offensive songs not been investigated, reported and overcome by the fans? I'll tell you why, you, your club and media don't see them as 'sectarian'. I'll bet any money the firsts sectarian song sung on Saturday will eminate from the Celtc end. Hell, I'll even go as far as to predict the song that you'll sing - during the pre-match melody, the theme from the great escape is played - as usual we'll hear the lovely ditty from the Celtc fans 'Henrick Larsson, Mark Viduka, Fuck The Queen and Davie Cooper (he's deid)'. As for Catholic Rangers supporters - Your right, the don't exist, why would they, if they did, they would blow your theory out of the water. Surfice to say that Govan Parish Priest (I would assume that he is a Catholic) is a season ticket holder at Ibrox. I also assume that the local Dubs who are members of the Dublin RSC are catholics (along with their polish members). Ask the Dublin RSC about tollerance, respect and sectarianism. I sat beside 4 Catholic supporters when I had a season ticket in the Main Stand. All 4 from Manchester and United fans who could no longer afford Old Trafford. They decided to travel up to Scotland and actually went to Torbett Towers initally but didn't feel 'welcome' there. They decided to come to Ibrox instead and were there 4 years later. But hey, you and Spiers are right, it ain't a 50-50 problem any more. Cammy F

Bullshit BC - the charge against Smith, by the likes of Shooo Keevins is that he is guilty of sectarianism by 'association'. GS was brave enough, in print to talk about sectarianism in a book - this was printed and published before he was elected to his position at the SFA. What GS is being attacked over is the fact that he dared question the role of single-faith schools and if they should be present in modern day Scotland. I always find it funny that those of us who advocate inclusiveness are regarding as bigots and those who prefer exclusiveness in schooling are the 'non-bigots'. BC, there has been one arrest and one arrest only this season at Scottish Football for sectarianism - care to guess what team the bigot supports? BC, your chairman has seen fit to chair 'secert meetings' between supporters groups to drown out sectarian, political and offensive songs at home and away games. Why would he do this if his, and your club, didn't have a problem - like he, the media and the MOPES keep telling us they don't? What anti-catholic agenda at Ibrox? We have had many celebrated Catholic players (we signed our first Catholic before Celtc were fromed), we have had a celebrated Catholic captian and a catholic manager (as well as board memebers, employees etc). It is worth remembering that of the 2 'big' Glasgow clubs one was formed by 4 teenagers for the pure love of the game, the over, well - if you know your history and all that...... Cammy F

Agreed, but remember, according to Timmy and the media, we are the only club with a problem. Cammy F

Yeah, Cardiff Bhoy is an example of what the author is talking about - someone so wrapped up in his own bigoted life that he doesn't realise he is a bigot. Cammy F

With us having the first OF game on Saturday, I'd feel a lot better if NONE of ourt players played on Wednesday. In fact, with McGregor, McCulloch and now Hutton all struggling to be fit for Saturday, we cannot afford another injury. Cammy F

It was Sir Bawbag himsewlf who gave AMc and Scotland permission to take Fletcher to Georgia. Cammy F

I'm saying what I always say - good luck to Scotland, good luck to those who 'follow' them - hope that Scotland qualify but still not interested enough to be entirely 'interested' either way.... Strange question to ask tho - if Rangers are / were doing well, I wouldn't ask what feelings fans with 'little interest' in Rangers were feeling, I'd be too happy enjoying the success to care. Cammy F

Interesting fact about Scotland's point total so far....
CammyF replied to Koeman's topic in General Football Chat
Could amount a massive 27 points and still not qualify - strange... Cammy F -
From The Sunday Herald - worth noting that the author is 'celtc minded' - fantastic article that brings up a few very valid points on the 'sectarian debate'. http://www.sundayherald.com/sport/shfootball/display.var.1758702.0.honesty_does_not_make_smith_a_bigot.php Cammy F

How have you managed to obtain 6 Rangers end tickets fraser? The travel club (the only official way to get tickets) are still accepting applications until Friday - then they will inform those who have gotten the trip. Cammy F

Bmck - agree with you 100% - this is something that I have been advocating for years. The closet we came to this was when Dick Advocaat insisted that SDM build a 'training facility'. I will say this until I am blue in the face, but that was the ideal opportunity to develop a Rangers Way. The 'training complex' should have been expanded to include a true 'Youth Academy' and this should have been staffed and financed properly and in the model of Ajax. If we had bitten the bullet then, we would have our 'Rangers Way', we would have our 'Youth Academy' and we would be reaping the rewards. The reason we missed out - as said previously (till I blue in the face again!!!) is down to SDM's short-termism. Cammy F

Time For Stability We all knew that when Walter Smith was appointed as PLGââ?¬â?¢s successor, this was to herald a period of stabilization in the wonderful history of our club. Now that this stabilization is well under way, lets hope that Walter will reflect on the positive effects this has shown and take this stabilization into team selection. We have had a huge turnover of players in the last 3 seasons and it is now time for our current charges to decide on their preferred tactics / squad / starting 11 and to put this into practice. Whilst we the fans have to understand that change takes time and takes its toll, and that there will be bad days as well as good, the management require an understanding that all the fans want is a winning team on pitch and one that has a fluidity and consistency about it. This cannot be achieved by constantly chopping and changing the starting 11 and having our ââ?¬Ë?betterââ?¬â?¢ players situated on the bench, or worse in the stand. Then recent defeat at the hands of Hibs illustrated this and the Gaffer has to hold his hands up and admit that he got it badly wrong against Hibs. Walter Smith bowed to fan pressure by selecting Hendami in a 5 man midfield and made the ultimate mistake of playing Kris Boyd as a lone striker. This is a role that everyone, including WS, have known for sometime is beyond Boyd. Boyd has other attributes, but he cuts an abject figure whilst furrowing away as a lone striker. The international break gives WS and his backroom staff an ideal opportunity to sit down together and decide on what is their preferred tactics and what is their strongest team. We cannot afford this continual rotation system as it is killing us domestically. 4-5-1 (or 4-1-4-1) isnââ?¬â?¢t suited to home SPL games. Opposition teams come and flood the midfield and defend deep. If we play 5 in midfield, we cannot get forward as much especially when our lone striker is not capable of holding the ball. For ever home SPL game (except the Tims ââ?¬â?? more soon) we should be playing 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 ââ?¬â?? if this means there is no place for fans favourites (no matter who that is), then so be it. OF and European games are better suited to 4-5-1 (or 4-1-4-1) and I would deploy this formation in the upcoming OF and European ties. We have the players capable of playing this formation and using it to our advantage ââ?¬â?? McGregor, Hutton, Weir, CC, Papac ââ?¬â?? Beasley, Fergie, Hendami, Thommo, McCulloch ââ?¬â?? Cousin / JCD and IMO that is our strongest 11 at the moment. When going 4-4-2, Thommo or Hendami would drop out and Iââ?¬â?¢d play JCD and Cousin up front (but this is where we have options ââ?¬â?? Boyd, Novo and Naismith all come into contention). Given a settled run of games, I am confident that our strongest 11 would be a match for all SPL teams (obviously they will have off days and drop points) and they have already shown that they are a match for the cream of Europe. Its Rangers, Its Rangers, Its Rangers For me I have no qualms in saying this, but I dread international weekend. It means that I have no Rangers game to go to and I sit back and watch the internationals dreading that one (or more) of our players will get injured whilst on international duty. I know that this is selfish, but for countless years, and for varying reasons (that most on here already know!), I have no interest in international football. Now, I know and understand that a vast majority of Rangers fans are unlike me and they will be looking forward to supporting their country (who ever that happens to be) on Saturday and that 10ââ?¬â?¢s of thousands of Rangers fans will pack into Hampden to back Scotland ââ?¬â?? fair play and good luck to them. However, I just hope that those that do pay me the respect I deserve for not having any interest in the national team and understand that it doesnââ?¬â?¢t diminish on my ââ?¬Ë?Scottishnessââ?¬â?¢ one iota. Too many people in this country feel that if you donââ?¬â?¢t get rigged up in full Highland dress, paint a saltire on your face and sing dirge folk songs then you are somehow ââ?¬Ë?anti-scottishââ?¬â?¢. Ironic Or What So it appears that the whirlwind of media defence of Celtc in the wake of their latest pitch invader is what might actually see them receive the punishment that they deserve. Ac Milan (who have behaved impeccably in this issue) and stated that if the press and Celtc continue to focus on Dida then they will make a formal complaint to UEFA. I canââ?¬â?¢t be the only one who found this ironic. This is the same media who helped UEFA in their investigation into Rangers fans singing (and lets not forget that the BBC supplied UEFA with video evidence that was used to try and ban Alex Rae) who have now gone out of their way to defend Celtc and deflect the blame onto the Milan keeper. It is funny that everyone and their dog is still rabbiting on about Celtc fans ââ?¬Ë?great behaviourââ?¬â?¢ and that this was a ââ?¬Ë?one offââ?¬â?¢. Sorry, but that doesnââ?¬â?¢t wash ââ?¬â?? how come no one is mentioning their ââ?¬Ë?previousââ?¬â?¢? Surely no one has forgotten about the annual pitch invasions, diverted planes, shootings in Amsterdam, stabbings in the pie queue at FirHill, riots in Blackburn and Vigo airport, replayed European ties ââ?¬â?? I could be churlish and list more, but hey, according to the media and the MOPES these incidents didnââ?¬â?¢t happen. I might be the only person in Scotland hoping this (OK, Iââ?¬â?¢m not), but I hope UEFA through the book at them ââ?¬â?? if they do, then their day is rightly come. And Finally Congratulations to Frankie on the birth of his daughter ââ?¬â?? all the best to Frankie, his missus and wee one. Cammy F ââ?¬â?? We Are The Peopleââ?¬Â¦.

IMO we are at a stage of stablization and don't think that we can 'gamble' that on an untried manager when WS steps down - it would put us back to years IMO. A Laudrup 'double-act' could be an option. Cammy F
-
In a word - NO I just don't think Ally has what it takes to become a manager. To much of a gamble replacing WS with Ally without Ally going somewhere else for experience. Wouldn't be against him staying as part of a management team like his current role, but not as manager for me. Cammy F

I don't think we can jump to any conclusions after just yet. However, I don't think anyone can take anything away from our European results so far this season even tho the early performances weren't up to every fans expectations. As I said in my rant, love or loathe 4-5-1 in Europe, it is certainly delivering results - and performances especially in the last 2 games. IMO we'll have to wait until the end of the season before we can pass any real judgement on results and performances. Early signs are encouraging tho..... Cammy F

Now, before going on, I doff my cap to the Celtc (Ã?© Green Brigade) PR Machine as it once again roars into action trying to defend the indefensible. If only we had a similar set-up at Ibrox, we wouldnââ?¬â?¢t be subject to weekly complaints from MOPES, TWATS and unbiased media outlets. However, I find the latest spin-doctoring from the east end very hard to swallow. The latest example of Celtc fans encroaching the field during a game is arguably the most ââ?¬Ë?high-profileââ?¬â?¢ but it is hardly the first time they have been guilty of such an offence. In recent years, this has been almost an annual occurrence at Celtc games, especially at Parkhead. Hell, Celtc fans even go to games of their greatest rivals and invade the pitch ââ?¬â?? could it be said that they are not normal pitch invaders? Now, I am not arguing that Dida made a ââ?¬Ë?shop-frontââ?¬â?¢ of the whole episode. In fact, he would have been better served taking the John Brown approach. When a Celtc fan decided that heââ?¬â?¢s seen enough of Rangers papping his team and decided to attack Ally Maxwell, Bomber simply bundled the guilty party into the net and proceeded to ââ?¬Ë?restrainââ?¬â?¢ him until the Police arrived on the scene. However, Didas antics shouldnââ?¬â?¢t be under scrutiny here. The simple fact of the matter is that once again, an opposing player has been attacked by a fan at Parkhead. I found it ironic that Gordon Strachan declined to comment on the issue last night ââ?¬â?? surely someone who has been on the receiving end of a right hook from a Celtc fan would be well placed to comment on how it feels to be attacked whilst plying your trade. I am sure that WGS hasnââ?¬â?¢t forgotten being attacked from the Jungle in his Aberdeen days? Quinn has been quick to tell anyone whole listen that they will be swift to act (although the culprit handed himself over, made his job a bit easier) and the fan has been banned for life. Quinn has also stated that there will be a review of security. Talk about closing the door after the horse has bolted. The whole herd have not only bolted, but escaped down the Gallowgate, onto the Renfrew ferry and were last seen grazing of the West Coast of Scotland. Let me digress here as Quinn is a clever fellow. He has continually stated that Celtc donââ?¬â?¢t have a problem with sectarian (or political or offensive) singing, yet he has felt the need to chair ââ?¬Ë?secret meetingsââ?¬â?¢ (are they turning into Masons?) with fans groups pleading with them to drown out sectarian, political and offensive sung at Parkhead ââ?¬â?? why call meetings Mr Quinn if you havenââ?¬â?¢t gotten a problem? I believe Frankie highlighted the true extent of their problem by posting You Tube clips recently. I wonder why the media and Uefa havenââ?¬â?¢t picked up on these as yet ââ?¬â?? they were quick to find and use You Tube footage of Rangers fans recently? See, this is more spin from the spin-masters at Parkhead. If Liewell and Quinn are to be believed, let them answer this question. How long is it since Fernando Ricksen was struck with a lighter at Parkhead and has the culprit been identified and banned? While we await a response on that incident, I wonder if their PR machine could remind us of how many fans were identified and banned after the Celtc Shame Game where at least 3 fans invaded the pitch and attacked the linesman, referee and Jorg Albertz? Not forgetting the barrage of coins that were thrown at Rangers players and Hugh Dallas, resulting in a head injury to the referee. Again, whilst we are awaiting an update, could they also confirm if the person responsible for rearranging Hugh Dallasââ?¬â?¢ windows ever received a ban? I think youââ?¬â?¢ll find him dining out bi-weekly in the corporate boxes at Parkhead. So in summary, Celtc have ââ?¬Ë?historyââ?¬â?¢ for pitch invasions (I have barely scratched the surface) and are clearly still flaunting UEFA, SFA and SPL guidelines on sectarian, political and offensive songs with impunity. However, given the high profile nature of the opposition and game last night, I can not see them escaping so easily this time. If only the UEFA and SPL representatives would open their ears to the repugnant chanting as well. Cammy F

Well, Well, Wellââ?¬Â¦.. So we had to endure another stuttering away SPL performance at the weekend against Motherwell. We didnââ?¬â?¢t really start the game at all and only lifted our performance when we went a goal down. I know it is easy to say, but it was a terrible goal to lose. We had a few opportunities to clear the danger, but Thompson dithered and Weir missed his tackle and we were suddenly a goal down. We did respond well to the set back by hitting the bar and having a header scrambled clear. The introduction of JCD ensured that we started the 2nd half at breakneck speed but unfortunately, JCD had leave the field after only 8 minutes due to an injury. Beasley was then introduced and he became our hero by getting a penalty after some brilliantly wing play. Boyd dispatched the penalty with aplomb, but it is worth noting that he missed two guilt-edged chances in the 2nd half. All in all it was a pretty poor performance from Rangers and IMO, and as I said in my rant of last week, we really need to decide on our ââ?¬Ë?strongest 11ââ?¬â?¢ and give them a sustained run of games. This ââ?¬Ë?chopping and changingââ?¬â?¢ isnââ?¬â?¢t doing us any favours and the quicker we get to playing a settled 11 the better. Another slight concern is the fact that in the majority of games this season, we have been slow to start games and improve significantly in the 2nd half. Maybe this is something that the coaching staff and look at and rectify. Bring On The Spaniards By The Scoreââ?¬Â¦.. Well, if we were in dreamland after the Stuttgart victory, we are in heaven after the destruction of Lyon in their own backyard. Last nights demolition of the French Champions was nothing short of outstanding and will have football fans, commentators, players and managers from all over Europe taking notice of ââ?¬Ë?The Rangersââ?¬â?¢. That team performance has to go down as one of the best in recent history, if not of all time. I am not just talking about Rangers European performances, I am talking about Scottish team performances. Let no-one take anything away from us. Lyon are a genuine force in Europe, they have fantastic players, they have won the French title in the last 6 consecutive seasons and we dismantled them in their ââ?¬Ë?Lyons Denââ?¬â?¢. Isnââ?¬â?¢t it ironic that their home is entitled ââ?¬Ë?Gerlandââ?¬â?¢Ã¢â?¬Â¦Ã¢â?¬Â¦ Our detractors tried to deflate us after our opening CL victory by claiming that Stuttgart were a ââ?¬Ë?pub teamââ?¬â?¢. I wonder how long it will take for Lyon to suffer such a relegation? Letââ?¬â?¢s remind ourselves that the self-same detractors were chuckling at our draw in the ââ?¬Ë?Group Of Deathââ?¬â?¢ and were claiming that weââ?¬â?¢d be lucky to get a single point. As we sing ââ?¬Ë?Champions League? Weââ?¬â?¢re having a laughââ?¬â?¢ (and a ball it is safe to say). We had to endure an initial onslaught from Lyon, but after we settled, the players stood shoulder to shoulder against the waves of attacks and started to impose themselves in key areas. Fergie, Hendami and Thommo were a brilliant shield in front of the defence and Beasley and McCulloch showed impressive stamina to help their full-backs and support Cousin who was superb as the lone striker. This may sound cruel, but watching Cousin (and JCD previously) shows why WS had to buy strikers. None of our other strikers could play this role as well. They all have other qualities, but Cousin showed exactly how you play this role. You work you ass of in the understanding that you will get kicked all over the pitch, run yourself empty and may only get one chance. When that chance presents itself, and at this level, you MUST put the ball in the back of the net ââ?¬â?? that is exactly what Cousin did and he set up RUN DMB for the killer 3rd goal. I cannot go on without mentioning the fantastic Rangers support. The Lyon fans were impressive but all through the game, the travelling Bears came through loud and clear and I was certainly proud of their efforts. The ââ?¬Ë?Come On Over To My Placeââ?¬â?¢ and ââ?¬Ë?Are You Watching PLGââ?¬â?¢ raised a wee chuckle at ââ?¬Ë?Chez Cammyââ?¬â?¢. So next in our sights are the mighty Barca ââ?¬â?? we welcome them to Ibrox with absolutely nothing to fear. We arenââ?¬â?¢t expected to take anything from them over two games, so hopefully the players will go into these games and play with a freedom that allows them to express themselves and after last night, you just never knowââ?¬Â¦. One last word on WS favoured 4-1-4-1 (or 4-5-1) formation ââ?¬â?? I wonder if the fan who was sat behind me at the Red Star game is still chanting ââ?¬Ë?4-5-1 is unaccptableââ?¬â?¢Ã¢â?¬Â¦ Time To Get Selfish? Am I the only one getting a bit tired of the ââ?¬Ë?great for Scottish footballââ?¬â?¢ comments that have followed our 2 astonishing (brilliant!) CL victories? The reason I say this is that if you were to conduct a straw poll of ââ?¬Ë?Scottish Football fansââ?¬â?¢, Iââ?¬â?¢m betting that the majority would be wishing that we got ââ?¬Ë?Donald Duckedââ?¬â?¢ in the CL. Now, I am not complaining about that attitude, it is their choice. I am simply saying that, like them, I only really care about my team and I am happy in the knowledge that our victories have been great for ââ?¬Ë?The Rangersââ?¬â?¢. Our latest victories have seen us add to our (as well as ââ?¬Ë?Scotlandââ?¬â?¢sââ?¬â?¢) co-efficient and has earned us a few more ââ?¬Ë?bobââ?¬â?¢ in the process. It is also safe to say that it has seen our profile rise in footballing circles. We currently sit joint top of the ââ?¬Ë?group of deathââ?¬â?¢ with 6 points from 2 games having defeated the German and French Champions. Itââ?¬â?¢s Worth Reminding Ourselves I will not tire in reminding ourselves that our current charges are a ââ?¬Ë?new teamââ?¬â?¢ who have been thrown together during pre-season so there will be grey skies as well as blue this season. Please remember this when having a say on formations, players ability (or perceived lack off), results and performances. I think it is fair to say that compared to last season, we have a better squad, a better chance of winning trophies and one thing that is most evident this season, is that we appear to have rekindled the famous ââ?¬Ë?Team Spiritââ?¬â?¢. WS has gotten a decent mix of youth and experience and of home grown talent and ââ?¬Ë?foreign importsââ?¬â?¢. What all the new additions seem to have though is a determination for the team and club to do well and they put this above ââ?¬Ë?personal gainââ?¬â?¢. It is also worth remembering that we have some very young and raw talent and given that, they are going to make mistakes. Christ, the most seasoned of pros make mistakes. So lets get of players backs and get behind ever one of them ââ?¬â?? we just might be on the verge of something special here people. Cammy F ââ?¬â?? We Are The Peopleââ?¬Â¦.

No - but if the wee deal was that we won at Ibrox and they won in Barca then both teams would safely progress to the next round. However, I wouldn't want such a deal - we'll take them home and away Cammy F
