  1. They are one of the best teams in Europe when on their game but the only concern I have this season is are they going to be consistant enough. They have started 'on-fire' but I have to wonder how they will fare if / when they suffer injuries, suspensions and 'drop in form'. I actually hope they go on to win the EPL and the CL (If we don't win it that is) as I love watching them play. Cammy F
  2. More Than A Club If ever a statement summed up the way we all feel about The Rangers it is ‘more than a club’ and I have to say, last nights game against Barcelona was the pinnacle for this Bear in my 25+ of ‘follow following’ the great institution that is Rangers Football Club. It is funny to think that it may actually be bettered when I visit Barcelona for the ‘return game’ next month. The anticipation that I felt in the lead up to the Barcelona game has only ever been matched by the buzz I felt prior to entertaining Kiev in the late 80’s, Leeds (home and away) in 92/93 and possibly the build up to the ‘Celtc Shame Game’ when we dismantled them in their own midden and won the league in the process. To say for the last week that I have mirrored a kid in a candy store is the biggest understatement of the year! And I have to say that occasion didn’t disappoint. From the wonderful card display pre-match (well, do we do anything other than wonderful displays?) to the 92 minutes and the aftermath, this was an occasion that in years to come, we will all fondly recall that ‘we were there’ (those of us lucky enough to get tickets, and I dare say some of us that weren’t lucky enough! In 20 years time, over 100,000 will claim to have been there!!!!). Barcelona, like ourselves, rightly proud themselves as being more than a club (Club motto is “El Barca es mes que un club”) – they are a political focal point to the Catalans and like ourselves, they were founded purely out of the love of the game (by a couple of Englishmen and a Swiss gentleman who actually changed his to name to the Catalonian version!). Their club also became a focal point of the anti-Franco movement in Spain and that is why we are held in great esteem in this famous of footballing cities and clubs. As Carlos Puyol stated when the draw was made, we are still remembered by the locals for giving Franco’s fascist Police a chasing and will be the recipients of a warm welcome when we visit in November. This flies in the face of the lies and innuendo that the ‘unbiased’ Scottish media and the MOPES will have peddled since we achieved our Cup Winners Cup success at the ‘camp nou’. They will tell you that we raped, pillaged, ransacked Chapels where the reality couldn’t be further from their lies. In fact, we were invited back to Barcelona the following season to participate in Barca’s anniversary celebrations. Anyway, back to last night and the game itself went past as a ‘blur’ for this Bear, but I did witness enough to see that our team put in one hell of a shift and everyone of us should be proud of everyone one of them! I also couldn’t help but notice that Barca were a class act, probably one of the best teams I have seen at Ibrox (along with Juventus and Valencia) and that their players also had a ‘touch of class about them’. I don’t just mean footballing ability wise, but noticed that when Henry was substituted, he made an effort to pass BF and wrapped an arm around our captain and encourage him to keep going and to rally the troops. This gesture was then copied by Puyol – two examples of sportsmanship. The result puts us in a fantastic position in the group and it looks like our last game against Lyon could decide our fate. However, before getting that far ahead of ourselves, it is worth remembering that that is 9 consecutive CL games without defeat and in 7 European games this season, we have conceded just 1 solitary goal. As Walter Smith said in his interview, a year ago we were defeated in the League Cup at home by St Johnstone and 9 months ago, we were knocked out of the Scottish Cup by Dunfermline (that is taking nothing away from them, or any disrespect to those two clubs – both deserved their victories). Here we are 12 months later, battling out a 0-0 draw with arguably the best team in the world. This may sound utterly mental, and as I can’t believe that I am typing it, but was I the only one who thought that we were going to sneak it in the last 10 minutes? I just had this gut feeling that something magically was going to happen, a lose ball was going to fall our way and be tucked into the net. The only other example of this I can readily recall was the Porto away game where they dominated possession, scored and we then equalized – it was that sort of a feeling, if you know what I mean. Anyway, it didn’t detract for a wonderful game, and amazing experience and an evening that once again, reinstated the fact that we are ‘more than a club’. The Aftermath In saying all of the above and heaping praise on the players (and lets not forget the manager and his staff) the victory over Celtc and last nights escapades will count for nothing if we do not take maximum points form Dundee United at the weekend. We must find a level of consistency on the SPL and show that we are capable of mounting a sustained challenge and show no adverse reactions from CL exertions. Given the nature of last nights game and the effort (mental as well as physical) put in by the players, I can envisage WS making some changes to the starting 11. Those brought in MUST deliver and show a hunger and desire to push us forward on the domestic front. They must use this as an opportunity to be involved in the next big European night. So, the pressure is on, they must perform and we mustn’t allow this utterly fantastic week to end on s sour note. Arthur Boric I know I shouldn’t give this cretin ‘column inches’ but the latest outburst from the ‘Holy Goalie’ can not be left unchallenged – although I fully expect the club to ignore the ‘neds’ comments even though they bring the game into disrepute and our players character into question. The ‘Holy Goalie’ claims that he was justified in ignoring our players offer of a sporting handshake as he ‘dislikes them and our club’. Now, that part of his statement is fair enough, but he then goes on to insinuate that unspecified Rangers players ‘spat on him’. Come on Arthur, with the amount of press coverage the OF generates and with the majority of the press in Scotland being ‘pro-Celtc’, I sure that if one of our players had spat on (or at) you, this would have been noticed and reported. I am also sure that one (or more) of the MOPES who trawl TV, You Tube, paper etc evidence to be offended at, it would not have gone unnoticed. It is now up to Rangers (as well as the SFA and SPL) to bring the Holy Goalie to task over these allegations. He must be made to identify the supposed culprit or be ‘outed’ as the liar that he undoubtedly is. Cammy F – We Are The People….

    CL Tables

Could well come down to our last game at home to Lyon - would prefer if we had qualified before that (can see us taking at least a point away at Stuttgart). And if anyone had offered us that at the start of the group (ie beat Lyon at home in our last game) we would have bitten their hands off. I now it won't happen but if were to draw / win out next 3 games, that would see us 12 games unbeaten in the CL - now that would be some record and something to be proud about. Look at it another way, a victory in barca and we are 99.9% certain to qualify :fish: Cammy F
  4. Can I vote for them all - not one single player disn't deserve a 10/10 - an absolutely fantastic team performance. Cammy F
  5. Hey, I can't take the credit for that one - thank their (Always) Ultra Group the Green Brigade - for it is them that can't even spell their clubs name Celtc Indeed  Cammy F

  7. Villarreal midfielder Marcos Senna reckons Ibrox' intimidating atmosphere can roar Rangers to victory. The midfielder, who scored two penalties in the surprise weekend win, played at Ibrox two seasons ago for Villarreal in the last 16 of the Champions League. Senna said: "The fans are like an extra player for Rangers. The Ibrox atmosphere is one of the best in the world. "When I played there it made the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end. "I would love it if the fans in Spain were like that. Rangers' supporters are among the best in the world and they can help their team enormously. "When we played there we drew 2-2 - we went ahead and then they came back at us and the fans made anoise I have never heard before. I will never forget that night." ---------------------------------------------- Cammy F
  8. Yip me - whilst stewards were helping Celtc fans drape their rags over the stands, I was approached by stewards and Police informing me to take mine down or I would be arrested. Cammy F

  11. Why no mention of the sectarian banner bisplayed by Celtc fans at start of the game and at half-time? In a time where Celtc FC have PUBLICALLY stated that any employee using the term 'hun' will be sacked and when 'hun' has been defined a sectarian term, you'd think displaying a banner with the word 'hun' on it would receive some publicity? Anyone, I think timmy went home with their tales between their legs when TBO reacted with a 8-1 banner - if you knew our history Cammy F

  13. Celtc And The Art Of Losing Us Rangers fans are no strangers to the petulant and sometimes, bam right frightening way a Celtc player, manager (and most scarily) fans mind works after a defeat and especially an Old Firm defeat. No one can forget Chris Muttons scandalous comments after we defeated DAFC 6-1 to secure our glorious 50th League Title. For a fellow professional to come out on live TV and claim that his fellow professionals had cheated not only Celtc, but the rest of the league, DAFC fans etc left most people with a bitter taste in their mouths. To us Rangers fans who have witnessed such gracious comments in defeat, we just laughed and commented that it was the ‘Celtc Way’. In my lifetime of watching Rangers, I don’t think I have ever, in the aftermath of a title celebration, or an OF victory, picked up a post-match paper and read that Rangers won fair and square and that the game was ‘controversy free’. Today, after such a drubbing, the TWATS are keen to portray a well deserved victory, but you have the undercurrent and undertones that the referee was somehow ‘corrupt’. McCurry booked 9 Celtc players (didn’t send any off) and from my perspective, he got MOST (not all) of those bookings correct. In fact, you could criticise McCurry for not red-carding McDonald for his petulant kick at Alan McGregor and Scott Brown dished out some meaty challenges whilst on a yellow card. I came away from the game thinking that the worst decisions from the officials actually benefited Celtc – we had a very decent shout for 2 penalties that weren’t given and Lee McCulloch’s goal in the final minute WASN’T offside. Yet, listen to post match analysis and all the talk is of Celtc amassing 9 bookings. Now, we can not move on without a word regarding the Holy Goalie. Borat has previous, and not only in OF games. He has gestured to fans at Easter Road, Tynecastle and The Pits (to name a few), and yesterday seemed more interested in stirring up some passion from the gather MOPES than shaking hands with fellow professionals. Even his manager mentioned this in post-match interviews, but GS should take a look in the mirror before slating Borat. During his interview, GS refused to refer to Rangers, by name, once. It was ‘them’ and ‘they’. Compare and contrast this to Barry Ferguson and Walter Smiths post-match interviews. But hey, we are used to this, it’s the ‘Celtc Way’. The game itself developed into a very one-way encounter. We didn’t start the game that well but managed to impose ourselves and won ALL the personal battles. This allowed us to build momentum and establish our game plan. Barry Ferguson once again showed that on his game, he is one of the best midfield players in Britain. He has shown in 4 huge games this season (Stuttgart, Ukraine, Lyon and now the OF game) that he is everything that Scott Brown isn’t (as yet). His maturity shines through and he is a great leader on the pitch – he simply lifts those around him onto his level. We could had should have won by a more emphatic margin but we can be delighted in the 3-0 victory, or third OF victory on the bounce. This should be a platform for us and up next is the small matter of a visit from some team called Barcelona…. Big Jock Knew No matter your feelings on this chant, expression, topic, there is no doubt that Jock Stein was aware of child abuse at Celtc Park and did little / nothing to stop the abuse of children under the care of Celtc Football Club. There has been a subsequent court case concerning the perpetrators and during this case, evidence was given that Jock Stein and the Celtc board ignored warnings and refused to hand over these paedophiles to the Police. They were more interested in the clubs image. Now, at the game yesterday Police were confiscating scarves with the legend ‘Big Jock Knew’ on them. They weren’t giving any reason for this, they were just telling fans to bin the scarves or run the risk of not getting into the game, having their season tickets removed or facing a night in the cells. Surely you cannot be refused access to a football ground for carrying a scarf that is states a factually correct statement that has been proven in a court of law? Well, in Scotland you can. A Rangers fan in the Govan Stand was told to remove his top that had BJK on it. When he refused, he was arrested and was told that his details were being sent to Rangers and to expect a ban from Ibrox. The Police were asking Rangers fans entering the stadium to show them their scarves and Police were examining them. One fan with a ‘We Are The People’ scarf was told that this was offensive and sectarian and the Police confiscated the scarf. I wonder if the travelling supports scarves were under the same scrutiny? I doubt it as I saw a few with ‘FCUK Rangers’, God Bless The Pope (so much for keeping religion and football apart) and Bobby Sands scarves (there is a joke there, but we’ll not go there just now). MOPES Next Campaign I hear that the MOPES are going to lobby UEFA in an attempt to remove the five stars from our badge. According to Timmy (the oracle of world football) you can only display stars on your badge once you have won a European trophy, so we, like them should have only one star. Unknown to Timmy, issuing a star for 10 league titles started in the early 50's when Juventus won their 10th league title and added a star to their badge. This honour was then used in other countries like Germany and Turkey and once we won our 50th title, in started in Scotland. Little do Timmy know is that Rangers actually received permission and 'blessing' (sic) from UEFA to use the five stars as recognition of our world record of 51 titles. Nice try MOPES. Talking of MOPES, anyone hear the idiot on the phone-in last night? Complained that Rangers fans sang sectarian songs yesterday and that he was offended. The panel asked him what sectarian songs were sung. He then stated that he didn't know the titles of said songs. So then panel then asked him what the offending lyrics / lines were. He then said this, and I quote 'Look, I don't know what the songs are called and I don't know the lyrics to them but I do know that they offend me'....... Cammy F – We Are The People….
  14. £259 pp - flying in the morning of the game and back home straight after. Yeah, you get quite a bit of freedom - they usually drop you in the town centre and pick you up a couple of hours before kick-off and then take you to the game. We usually go independant but circumstances dictated that we had to go with the 'offical travel trip' this time. Cammy F

  17. Isn't really a rant, just a wee case of self indulgance - feel free to add your own or rip mine apart Time To Get Back On Track After a few stutters in the SPL, today offers us a fantastic opportunity to not only get our SPL season back on track, but to put one over our most bitterest of rivals. The first OF game of the season comes at a time when we have competed magnificently in the Champions League but wobbled domestically after an impressive and promising start. It is far to early to hand out winners medals, but defeat against Celtc would see us slip 6 points behind them and possibly 5 points behind a resurgent and undefeated Hibs. I am sure that management team and the experienced players will be informing the ââ?¬Ë?new playersââ?¬â?¢ just how important a victory of the other mhob is and how they must give absolutely everything in this game. There is never an ideal time to play an OF game, but on the back of back to back internationals and prior to the small matter of a visit from Barcelona, we cannot afford to take the eye of the ball or drop any points on Saturday. All we can hope for is that our players return fit after the international break but we have already suffered injury / knocks to important players like Hutton, McGregor, McCulloch and it is reported that BF is also carrying an injury. Lets hope that they all (plus JCD) make it for Saturday. "C30, C60, C90, Go." Now, posters of a certain age will not remember the golden era of ââ?¬Ë?tapesââ?¬â?¢ where you would tape the Top 40 whilst it was being broadcast on a Sunday evening, or more ââ?¬Ë?hipââ?¬â?¢ was to make your own mix-tape compilation. This would be from taping your vinyl (7ââ?¬â?¢ or 10ââ?¬â?¢ or 12ââ?¬â?¢ singles), or taping shows like The John Peel sessions. You would often use these tapes to impress friends whilst you were indulging in a wee carry out on a Friday evening, or use it as a vehicle to impress a member of the opposite sex, someone who had caught you eye at the Youth Club disco. Most people had their own style of tape ââ?¬â?? some preferred to have a complete tape fro one band, or genre of music. Some people preferred a mixture of one genre, others, like myself preferred a complete ââ?¬Ë?mash upââ?¬â?¢ of styles, genres and groups. So, it was with some sadness and regret that I read that most outlets were stopping making and supplying blank tapes. 18. Ready To Learn - this was a fantastic scheme that was started by Rangers some years ago (5-6 I can't remember). Anyway, the idea of 'Ready To Learn' was to invite certain local schools into Ibrox where they could use computers, have training with the coaches, receive free tickets to home games etc. Well, the first school to benefit from this scheme was a local Catholic Primary School. The school selected 50 pupils to attend and all of them had a brilliant time - especially at the free match (I am sure it was against DUFC). Anyone, the teacher who arranged all this was approached by parents of the pupils who were constantly nagging them to see if they could get invited again, and to see if they could get Celtc to do something similar. The teacher phoned both Rangers and Celtc. Rangers thanked them for the positive feedback and agreed that after other local schools got their opportunity, then they would be welcome back with open arms. Sadly, the same couldn't be said about Celtc. Celtc basically told the teacher that since they were a Catholic School, Celtc didn't need to do anything special to ensure that the pupils 'grew up into Celtc fans'. Surfice to say that over 50% of the pupils that initially went to Ready To learn are now regulars at Ibrox BC II - PM me and I will gladly give you the name of the school involved and give you the name of the Teacher (a family friend) and you can contact them to see if this is more 'antidocal' (sp) evidence or hard facts. Craig, BC II like all Tims refuses to challange facts simply because they can not be challanged. Its the same with Spiers, he will gloss over any evidence that shows Celtc fans up in any bad light, yet pounce on anything remotely 'sectarian' linked to Rangers (orange shirts, grass cut like a sash etc). BCII - lets have a cyber bet (for a cyber pint) about the first sectarian song on Saturday. I have named the song, told you exactly when it'll be sung. Lets hear your thought on this matter - let you name the song and when it'll be sung. As for us not signing Catholics, well we signed our first Catholic 5 years before your team were formed. We then proceeded to continue to sign Catholics throw our entire history and we still sign Catholics to this very day. These Catholics are known to have suffered sectarian abuse, but not from Rangers fans - the Tims appear more upset than we do - wonder why that is. As for MoJo - Rangers attendances rose every season he played for us (funny that eh?) and it wasn't Rangers fans that attacked his father and continue to this day, to issue death threats to MoJo and his family. For our 'Up to our kness' - you have your 'soon there will be no protestants at all' and for our 'F T P' you have your 'Henrick Larsson Mark Viduka, Fuck The Queen and Davie Cooper (Hes deid)'. I'll tell you what, I bet you hear your version a lot more this season than you hear ours. But hey, we're the bigots, you lot are just jolly jaipsters. Cammy F PS - interested in hearing your thoughts on Jewish players. I know the one that you had complained about being racially abused by both his own supporters and team mates. This was around the same thime that Ian Shite stated that Celtc fans were 'reptiles' after he as abused and spat upon by fans. PPS - BCII you still have acknowledge which of Glasgows big 2 clubs were formed purely out of the love of the game? I'll give you a clue, it wasn't Celtc
  19. Not bothered either way - all I am saying is if the game is lost on Wendesday, then the players, management, fans, media etc all know what they have to do in the Italy game (same with a draw). A win on Wednesday and all that is required is one point, then the players won't know how to approach the Italy game. Surely its better getting to 27 points and qualifying than getting to 27 points and NOT qualifying? Cammy F
  20. Hardly crazy - how many times have you seen players who are playing in a game that a draw will do, lose the game (before its even kicked off)? If you have to win the game, the players know exactly what is required - its all about mindset. Cammy F
  21. Given the situation, isn't it better to lose on Wednesday, then at least the players would know that only a victory in the last game would do? Cammy F
  22. It appears that everyone that applied is getting a ticket - indy conformations out as we speak - day trip and the likes tomorrow. Cammy F
  23. CammyF

    Cheer Up

That is actually a fantastic point - I have said for a while that the OF has lost its 'bite' - the atmosphere is more hostile and volatile in the games against Abergreen (both at Ibrox and The Dung Heep). Cammy F
  24. Excellent post Calscot and brilliantly summed up Cammy F
  25. Cool, that would be most appreciated. Cammy F
