The point I was trying to make is that PLG wanted an extra £300,000 required to buy Elmander and was refused as Martin Bain had already agreed a fee for Sebo (£300,000 less than Elmander). PLG really wanted Elmander but had to settle for Sebo. Again, it is all hypithetical (sp), but IMO Elmander would have offered more than Sebo for Rangers and as he was PLG's first choice, SDM and Bain should have backed the manager, gone that extra mile, or £300,000 to get the player the manager wanted. The song was ; 'We Know you're a hun, we know you're a hun, Warren Feeney, we know you're a hun'.. And as you say, the old Sad Orange Bastard was given another airing.... Cammy F

Did you get a chance to do the stadium tour? Best tour I've ever been on. What did you think of Madrid as a city? I preferred it to Barcelona - thought that there was much more to do/see. Cammy F

This is the road that Leeds United went down just before they went into admistration - I believe that they offered various packages (1 year to 5 years) and obviously the longer you signed up for, the more discount you received. Have certainly heard that this option is one currently being discussed within the ticket office and at boardroom level at Ibrox. Cammy F

Is there any first team player consistantly giving performances that reflect their pay? Cammy F

But that has to go further than the manager Frankie. This type of change would require Martin Bain to be replaced by a football minded person who can identify and attract the type of player the manager requires. Maybe someone like Graeme Souness with a continental manager (Michael and Brian Laudrup) below him Cammy F

If David Murray had backed PLG the way he has WS in the transfer market, things could have gone differently. The whole BF v PLG affair is something that we'll never know the full / real story to. Other than knowing that SDM was willing to back PLG all the way if PLG agreed to commit to Rangers for the entire 3 years of his contract. PLG opted not to give this commitment, we all know the rest. I said at the time the biggest SDM and PLG made was not insisting on having a 'Rangers' or 'Scotsman' on his backroom staff. When DA took over, he insisted on John Greig helping him and giving input. Another failing of PLG was to address the defensive frailties at Rangers, everyone could see those and it was something that WS addressed immediatley. Not an easy answer, but given that WS has taken us to the UEFA Cup Final (as well has having a decent CL run last season) and within touching distance of a treble, his record is apparently better than PLG. PLG was probably the wrong manager at the wrong time for Rangers. he is undoubtadly a talented coach, but the French clubs are set up differently from Rangers. At Lyon and PSG he has inherited established youth set-ups and both clubs have directors of football who solely deal with identifying and signing players. At Rangers, PLG had Bain to deal with. With clubs in the Championship looking to lay off around 10 players per team, you can see where Martin Bain is going to be shopping this summer. We'll replace players like Boogie, Ferguson, McGregor, Boyd et al with players from this market who'll accept a very low wage as apposed to being unemployed. Cammy F

Yip, that'll be Flo who scored goals for fun in the EPL and had just scored a hatrick in the CL against Barcelona As Bluebell says, Flo in himself was a decent signing and a decent player and it wasn't DA who agreed the transfer fee. Cammy F

Heard from three sources that Peter Lovenkrands have signed a pre-contract agreement with Rangers. Cammy F

So much respected coach Dick Advocaat rates Barry Ferguson yet us mere mortals remain unconvinced.... erm..... Maybe DA thinks that with his coaching ability that he can still get the best out of Ferguson. Wonder if our 'coaches' feel the same? Cammy F

I was lucky enough to be on the same flight to London as Hutton was when he signed for Spurs, and I can tell you that he didn't look like a player in a hurry to leave Rangers and sign for Spurs. He cut a lonely figure on the flight and at baggage reclaim and when I had a brief word with him whilst waiting on our luggage, he didn't sound excited about leaving Rangers. I said something along the lines of 'well it looks like you're going to Spurs then Alan. Thanks for the memories and for your time at Rangers'. He replied 'Aye, em, thanks...' and that was about it. I suppose the £1M sweatener he received helped, but that day, I would have said he looked like a man who was somewhere he didn't want to be. Cammy F

Not the first and certainly not the last Rangers player to 'gesture' to the fans (if that was indeed what he was doing). I can remember a certain Ally McCoist making a similar gesture to the East Enclosure after scoring for Rangers; pointing to the RFC badge and wagging his finger at the EE. Not to mention a certain Cammy Fraser and a run-in with the patrons of the Govan Stand and a Harvey Smith type retrort to some booing :box: Cammy F - Two Fingered Gesture Loyal RSC

There were plenty of canidates from the 9-in-a-row era; McCoist, Brown, McCall, Ian Ferguson, The Goalie et al, but IMO Gough was THEIR leader and they wouldn't have been the team that they were without his leadership. Cammy F

Still feel that Arsenal are a little 'weak' and certain teams will be able to bully them and knock them off their stride. Depending on who Wenger can keep and add to the squad, they may well be worth an outside bet for next years EPL. Cammy F

Nope, due to his break in service with his transfer to Blackburn. If he hadn't left / been sold, then I believe that he could have been. Cammy F

A great week for Liverpool but can't see Man United bottling it. They have been over the course so often and have the better team / squad. However, depends on what priority both managers decided the EPL is. Rafa has historically given the CL a higher priority than the EPL although most / all Liverpool fans would prefer the EPL. Man United and SAF have the attitude that both are as important as each other and believe that the domestic cups are nothing more than 'nice to haves'. Personally I hope Man United win the EPL and Chelsea (if not them then Barca) win the CL Cammy F

Was reading a thread on another Rangers site that was discussing the last true GREAT to play for Rangers and whilst a few great players names were mentioned; Ronald De Boer (who I’d say is one of the best players I have ever seen), Brian Laudrup, Paul Gascoigne, Barry Ferguson, Dado Prso, Jorg Albertz – to name just a few. However, in my opinion, the last true Rangers GREAT, taking into account length of service, dedication to the cause, displaying the qualities that define a ‘RANGER’, I give you Richard Gough who IMO is the last true GREAT to play for our club - we salute you goughie and we are not worthy. Maybe its an 'age' thing, or a sign of the times, but I'm finding that I need more and more drink before a game now. Historically, I would have a pint before the game, if even that, now I'm finding that I can't even go and watch Rangers sober - maybe there's an article contained there-in..... Cammy F

We are expecting and wanting someone more exciting than Levin, but it's Bain and Murray who will decide who, if anyone, replaces Smith..... We should be looking at the likes of Laudrup Brothers or Roberto Martinez.... or even Steve McLaren, doing a great job in Holland at the moment - the next managerial appointment MUST be one that excites the fans, Craig levin doesn't but it does reek of a Murray decision / appointment. Felt exactly the same thing Gazza - the difference in the teams attitude after half-time was evident and nothing was done (sub wise) to change this attitude. Once we had retreated into our shells, we found it impossible to up the tempo and in the end were lucky to come away with a point. If the attitude of the 1st half had been displayed in the 2nd half, we would have run out easy winners. Cammy F
