  1. After watching the U19's last Saturday, I have to admit that whilst Archie Campbell impressed, I wouldn't say he was ready for the first team, just yet anyway. He is fast, in fact, he is lightening, but he is still 'raw' and more often than not, takes the wrong options. In saying that, I believe that we will witness Archie in the first team sooner rather than later. For me, only Wilson and Ness look ready for first team action on the evidence of Saturday's showing. 2. Totally off topic (apologies) but the only time I've been on the telly (outwith the footie) was a brief appearence on The Hit Man & Her (Flicks in Brechin of all places). At least, unlike my mate who I was with, I didn't get caught 'winching' a local wench live on TV (I was too busy perving over Michaela Strachan) , must to the disgust of his then squeeze who promptly dummped him on our return. 4. RTV were showing the PSV v Rangers CL Group game last night (1-0 Rangers, Albertz with the goal) and this was the 'return tie' from our 4-1 victory at Ibrox. I have touched on RVN's involvement in these games as this was the time that he was coming to prominance. However, in both legs, and in watching PSV before and after our CL meeting, I was really impressed with RVN Belgian strike partner Luc Nilis. Nilis scored 127 goals in 224 appearences for Anderlecht and then an amazing 110 goals in 164 appearences for PSV. He then moved to Aston Villa where he suffered a horid, career ending leg break in (IIRC) his 4th game. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luc_Nilis [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZgCUAmotxw0]YouTube - Compilatie Luc Nilis[/ame] Cammy F

  7. To be fair to him (aye right!), I wouldn't have said he was at fault for the 2nd goal, however, 'The Clown' is a better judge of keepers than I'll ever be Cammy F
  8. As far as I can remember, the goal was scored into the goal to the right of the main stand, just after half-time. It was a freezing cold evening and he game was devoid of anything of note until Roberts unleashed this shot that flew into the top corner of the net. As others have said, I don't believe that the game was televised so don't think there will be footage of it anywhere (could be wrong tho)..... Cammy F
  9. A corner floated into the six yard box and Boruc was rooted to the spot and the ball travelled to the far edge of the 6 yard area where Johnny Evans slid in to fire home! The belief is that Biruc could and should have come and taken the corner. Cammy F
  10. At last, and it takes an ex-Polish international to admit this, Boruc is exposed for the bigot that he is ; -------------------------- Jan Tomaszewski, the former Poland goalkeeper famously called a "clown" by Brian Clough, lambasted Boruc and said he has only himself to blame for his mistakes because of his controversial behaviour with Celtic. Boruc was the target of abuse by home fans from start to finish at Windsor Park but Tomaszewski said: "Artur started a religious war in Glasgow and now it has come back to haunt him. "That is why he was under so much pressure in Belfast. He has no-one to blame but himself. "You could say Artur has had a punishment from God. We lost because of him, not because of how well Northern Ireland performed. I blame him for all three goals." http://www.theherald.co.uk/sport/headlines/display.var.2498818.0.Borucs_Poland_career_may_be_finished.php ----------------------------------------------- Cammy F
  11. Looks like he's been dropped from the Poland squad for their game on Wednesday night and has been sent back home to Glasgow due to his form and more off field problems Cammy F

  13. Seen Tom Forsyth play, but went for Stein and Baxter due to reputation - both players were lauded by my uncles and old man who followed Rangers. Another player who they would all have in their team would be Eric Caldow - thought about putting him at left back and moving Greig into the centre beside Gough! Jimmy Miller must also get a mention Yeah, agree that John McClelland is worth a shout, a very dependable centre-half in a time when we were really struggling. Colin Jackson could also be considered at centre-half. As I said, too many players to choose from, I haven't even mentioned players like Gary Stevens, Mark Hateley, Ian Durrant, Ian Ferguson, Stuart McCall, Stuart Munro, Michael Mols, Miko, John Brown, Butch, Alex McDonald, Gordon Smith, Bobby Russell et al..... For those who have chosen Hutton at right back, I am assuming that you never witnessed Gary Stevens or Sandy jardine playing for Rangers Cammy F
  14. Haven't you heard, it was loyalist paramilitaries who put that divot (no, not Boruc) on the Windsor Park pitch Cammy F

  17. Unofficial U19's Match Report - Rangers 6 v ICT 2 Not long back and have to say that I was well impressed with the performance from the U19's today. Billy Kirkwood has gotten them playing some brilliant football and we appear to have 3 or 4 players who look to have what it takes to break into the first team squad. From what I witnessed today, I would say that Danny Wilson and Jamie Ness are the best placed at the moment and look first squad material. Both fullbacks Cole and Wylde can defend and also break forward to support the midfield and forwards. Archie Campbell has pace to burn and if he can continue to develop and improve on first touch and his decision making, we have a star in the making. His partner Hemmings is a strong lad who is full of running and who creates gaps in defence that the midfield can exploit. Hutton also looked a decent player and scored two goals, both taken well. Isa Bagci scored the goal of the game after coming on as a sub. The kicked off in front of a sizeable crowd (west enclosure was full and part of the main stand was well populated) and the opening exchanges were tense which is understandable given the occasion but Rangers gained the early advantage when Jamie Ness latched onto a brilliant pass from Kyle Naismith and slotted home brilliantly. Rangers then took control and bar from some dodgy officiating, could have scored a few more goals before the 2nd finally arrived in the 26th minute. Naismith was again the provider when captain Wilson headed home from a well taken corner. ICT suffered an unfortunate blow when their keeper came of second best in a challenge with Hemmings and had to be substituted. Rangers were rampant now and the third goal arrived courtesy of Kyle Hutton and the forth followed on the stroke of halftime with Stephen Stirling scoring. The 2nd half followed a familiar pattern with Rangers surging towards the ICT goalmouth and the loss of Ness to injury (replaced by Dick) didn't hamper our intentions or style of play. Kyle Hutton scored number five after a free flowing move where Archie Campbell outpaced the defence and squared for Hutton to slam home. The sixth goal was goal of the game - the pacey Bagci picking the ball up wide right, beating two defenders before sending an unstoppable swerving shot into the net. ICT scored two consolation goals, one from a very soft penalty award after Ross Perry had out-muscled the centre-forward and ushered the ball back to our keeper. By this time, Rangers were down to 10 men after losing Naismith (IIRC!) to injury having committed their 3 subs. Conclusions from the game - Rangers played a very positive style of football with a solid back four in which the imposing Perry and Wilson leading by example. A midfield four with two genuine wide men and two very mobile forwards who run non-stop. The officiating was poor - we were continually and wrongly flagged off-side and this cost us two decent goals. ICT were a very physcial team and we lost 3 players to tackles that were certain yellow cards (no ICT players were booked) and the referee didn't appear to be able to deal with these terrible tackles. Overall, and this is very positive, we do appear to have genuine quality coming through the youth ranks and for that, Billy Kirkwood must be given credit (and for the way that they play). Hopefully, we'll get to see some of these players in the fist team in the next couple of seasons. Cammy F -
  18. Just a question that was put out on a phone-in show Personally, I couldn't really care about Scotland full stop. If Scotland were to win the world cup, I'd wish them well and give them the congratulations and credit that was deserved / due for such an achievement. Cammy F
  19. There was a great thread on Follow Follow last week showing images of the 'TA' from the 70's and 80's compared to images of the current 'TA'. The difference was frightening. Summed up with one poster asking if back in the 70's if there were any bankers called Farquar in the TA dressed in a Scotland rugby shirt, a see you jimmy wing and a man-skirt and timberland boots, and if there was, how long would he have lasted Cammy F
  20. CONTINUES A more appropriate definition of last nights action is as follows; <!--[if !supportLineBreakNewLine]--> <!--[endif]--> torÃ?·ture (tÃ?´rchr) n. 1. a. Infliction of severe physical pain as a means of punishment or coercion. b. An instrument or a method for inflicting such pain. 2. Excruciating physical or mental pain; agony: the torture of waiting in suspense. 3. Something causing severe pain or anguish. tr.v. torÃ?·tured, torÃ?·turÃ?·ing, torÃ?·tures 1. To subject (a person or an animal) to torture. 2. To bring great physical or mental pain upon (another). See Synonyms at afflict <http://www.thefreedictionary.com/afflict> . 3. To twist or turn abnormally; distort: torture a rule to make it fit a case. <!--[if !supportLineBreakNewLine]--> <!--[endif]--> It is my duty to point out that under the terms of the Geneva Convention torture is illegal. For your benefit (as a SPL club I'm sure you'll be unaware of the Geneva Convention) I have included the relevant passages which do in fact prove that you were in breach of this convention and as such, also in breach of the terms of contract on the ticket I purchased. ââ?¬Å?Persons taking no active part in the hostilities, including members of armed forces who have laid down their arms and those placed hors de combat by sickness, wounds, detention, or any other cause, shall in all circumstances be treated humanely, without any adverse distinction founded on race, colour, religion or faith, sex, birth or wealth, or any other similar criteria.ââ?¬Â Can you honestly say Aberdeen fans were treated humanely last night? A bullet to the brain would have been preferential to watching Mackie et al. Just because we're Aberdeen supporters doesn't mean we should be discriminated against. To this end the following acts are and shall remain prohibited at any time and in any place whatsoever with respect to the above-mentioned persons: 1. (a) Violence to life and person, in particular murder of all kinds, mutilation, cruel treatment and torture; - Last nights performance ticks all these boxes. (b) Taking of hostages; - I admit to attending of my own free will last night but was then held hostage for 120 minutes. © Outrages upon personal dignity, in particular, humiliating and degrading treatment; - Watching Bertrand Bossu warming up classifies as humiliating and degrading treatment (d) The passing of sentences and the carrying out of executions without previous judgment pronounced by a regularly constituted court affording all the judicial guarantees which are recognized as indispensable by civilized peoples. - Sir Jimmy Saville Calderwood cannot be recognized as an indispensable civilized person if he continues to rule that Darren Mackie is innocent of crimes against the art of striking a football. 2. The wounded and sick shall be collected and cared for. - Although Aberdeen Football Club employ what appears to be a small army of paramedics they offered me no care or attention in my hour of need. I appreciate that the paramedics are extremely busy discussing the latest episodes of Eastenders with the on duty Police, ensuring their high visibility uniforms and helmets are well turned out for the cameras and keeping their extremely expensive stretchers free from blood and mud but surely they could respond to emergencies slightly quicker. What type of injuries merit their assistance? Decapitations? Loss of limbs? Bullet wounds? I guess however, there is a potential for all such serious injuries given Jimmy Calderwood's predilection for football of mass destruction. Please do not take my request for a refund as the veiled rantings of an angry and bitter supporter. I have long since given up hope that our club will return to its rightful place. The aim of this letter was to try and recoup some of my hard earned money so that I can pursue other avenues of entertainment that would surpass what I witnessed last night. For Ã?£20 I could purchase an annual subscription to a stamp collecting magazine AND have enough money left over to buy a Big Mac or possibly even Darren Mackie. (Please, If you are reading this and think that stamp collecting would be preferable to associating yourself with an underperforming football club riddled with cowardice and underachievement then you can follow this link, http://www.royalmail.com/portal/stam...diaId=32300677 ). Yours sincerely (...and expecting his money back), Angry Don. P.S. I accept all major and minor credit cards in addition to cash. I should remind you that pretend money will NOT constitute payment of my debt. Furthermore a cheque from Stewart Milne will only be accepted upon completion of the due diligence done on his companies finances. -------------------- Cammy F
  21. Stolen from another forum - funny nevertheless - feel free to edit where appropriate and sent to SDM, C/O expensive chateau, south of france Dear Aberdeen Football Club, On Wednesday of last week I purchased 2 Adult tickets for the Scottish Cup replay between Aberdeen FC and the mighty Dunfermline Athletic. Having attended the fixtures against Bayern Munich, Copenhagen, East Fife, Manchester United (friendly), Fraserburgh (friendly), Liverpool (friendly) and Everton (friendly) in recent years, it goes without saying that the chance to see Dunfermline, possibly one of Europe's mightiest and most feared names, was an opportunity not to be missed. You can appreciate that finding the Ã?£21 (including a Ã?£1 booking fee) to buy two tickets was incredibly difficult given the current economic predicament our country finds itself in. I not only had to take on a second and third job, I also had to indulge in a wide variety of criminal activity (mugging old ladies, stealing from my friends, playing for Aberdeen Football Club and sending my sister out to work the streets) in order to come up with the required amount. When the tickets eventually hit my doormat it's safe to say I was so excited I nearly succumbed to a mild stroke......I was going to see the Athletic play at Pittodrie in the SCOTTISH CUP! How could I have been so lucky? Forget your Euro Millions....this was my dream ticket! Sadly this brings me on to the reason for troubling such a busy and professionally run club such as you. Basically I am requiring a full refund (including the Ã?£1 booking fee). Having endured what can only be described as one of the dullest, most limp-wristed, spineless, wet-pantied performances I have ever had the displeasure of viewing in nearly 27 years of being a living breathing human being, I would say that a refund is fully justified. I would like to back up my claim by quoting you a definition of the word "entertainment" (football is supposedly a branch of entertainment after all); enÃ?·terÃ?·tainÃ?·ment (ntr-tnmnt) n. 1. The act of entertaining. 2. The art or field of entertaining. 3. Something that amuses, pleases, or diverts, especially a performance or show. 4. The pleasure afforded by being entertained; amusement: The comedian performed for our entertainment. 5. Archaic Maintenance; support. 6. Obsolete Employment. Please can you tell me at what stage during last night's proceedings were any of the above applicable? Would you classify any of the following as entertainment? This can be argued furthermore with Darren Mackie chasing the shadow of his imaginary friend all night. The poor confused mind of Darren has an inherent suspicion of space and time. To Darren, space is a sinister creation of evil minds that are determined to imprison his precious talent. As well as this, Jamie Langfield was kicking like he'd suddenly developed multiple sclerosis. He seemed to have it in for two people in particular, (Main Stand just above the dug out on half way and the South Stand beside the fence). Was he auditioning for the new series of Ground Force? He accompanied each successful touch finder with a spot of landscape gardening around his box. Last night Jamie was a cross between Stephen Hawking, Bill Oddie and Alan Titchmarsh. There were also the two Professional footballers wilting under moderate pressure and missing penalties in front of their own fans. If Angus the Bull can smash them in why can't they? Angus wears silly wee foam boots and still rockets them into the bottom corner! Perhaps "Tricky" "Ricky" Richard Foster experiments with other forms of penalty footwear in future such as flip flops, clogs, hiking boots or flippers. Exactly what is he doing here? Clearly he's been spending too much time with Titters, Langers and Odders. Watching a six foot turd in a black and white shirt wandering about at half time, Dunfermlineââ?¬â?¢s mascot looks like the result of a nasty and painful trip to the little boys room. Why was he given permission to encroach on to the field of play? As well as this, there was the entire matinee performance of Charlie Mulgrew. For a ââ?¬Ë?manââ?¬â?¢ of such promising physical stature, why is it that opponents half his size and build continuously outmuscle and out jump him? I've seen a tin of sweetcorn stick up for itself with greater authority. Moving on to what can only be described as our game plan. Physics is a wonderful and noble field and has been blessed by such greats as Newton, Einstein and Galileo. These leviathans of history have given us theories on relativity, laws of gravity and kinematics. Now please step forward Sir Jimmy of Calderwood. Clearly Sir Jimmy believes he can defy the laws of physics and has stumbled upon a new branch. The theory of relativity states that E=MC2, where basically speaking energy equals mass multiplied by the speed of light. Sir Jimmy disproves this theory by stating that G=M2xLB/T which is basically goals equals Mackie squared multiplied by the long ball divided by the tombola. The laws of gravity do not exist in the Land of Jimmy. Gravitational forces do not effect strikers measuring 6 feet or less therefore balls rocketed skyward can be controlled and cushioned at any point during the balls trajectory. This eliminates the opposition selecting aging tall donkeys to mark our strikers. --------------------------------- Cammy F
  22. DJ was on the show last night and rather surprisingly given his 'uncle tom' tag, he instantly plumped for Rangers for the CL as well. The host (can't remember his name) said that its a sign of changing times as fans of the OF don't follow their country (a lie). However, DJ put him in his place. Said that as a Rangers fan, his loyalties were to Rangers. DJ and D King then said something that I haven't considered before and makes interesting thinking. Both said that historically, the Scotland national team consisted of players playing in the English League (Souness, Dalglish, Archie Gemmill, Joe Jordan, Billy Bremner etc) and that by going to support Scotland, it was the fans only real opportunity to see players like that play. Now the Scotland team is full of average players from average SPL and championship teams. Cammy F
  23. Taken from a phone-in show last night - simple question - would you prefer Rangers to win the CL or Scotland to win the World Cup? Simple question with a simple answer from this Bear, Rangers to win the CL - in fact, Rangers to win anything Cammy F
