  1. Great to hear Barry is still around - always worried I had tipped him over the edge when I introduced him to joy division!
  2. Agree - even although wasn't posting I still popped on to gersnet every now and again to see what was being said. Site and members evolved over the years but the quality of the site remained Oh it's good to be back posting :-)

I am an old gersnetter from way back in the days- I make Victor Meldrew looking sound like the happiest man alive :-)
  4. They cut their cloth accordingly - aren't the welsh and northern Irish leagues not mostly part-time?
  5. Like all Rangers fans, I have ample time to reflect on the blood-letting and Rangers bashing that occurred when our club slipped from administration into liquidation. Everyone in Scotland appeared to want a piece of Rangers, they were queuing up to kick us when we were down. From the SPL to the media and especially sections of fans of SPL clubs, they all had their say and in the end, they all got their wish. Rangers were voted out the SPL and, on the eve of the new season, were finally given a license to play in the SFL3. We also had the Tax case and the SPL investigation into EBTâ??s et al. Both have subsequently found us NOT GUILTY, well apart from a minor administration â??errorâ??. If only these outcomes had been delivered 9-12 months ago, we probably wouldnâ??t be where we are today. Outside of Scotland people can not believe the punishments dished out to Rangers. Nor can they believe the lack of help and / or support from the governing bodies within our game, especially if you compare it to the help and support given to teams like Portsmouth. As this season has developed, the â??sell-outâ?? Saturdays havenâ??t materialised, sponsors are failing to renew deals, and new sponsors are not tripping over themselves to invest in Scottish Football. There are serious concerns over SKY TV deal beyond the end of this season due to the plummeting viewing figures (unless Rangers are involved). It appears that life without Rangers is not what everyone thought it would be. Hell, we even have Charlie Mulgrew saying that we wants Rangers back in the SPL next season. Now we have both Hearts and Dunfermline in perilous positions with the later possibly only weeks away from administration and liquidation. Scottish Football is dying and the outcome of reconstruction meetings over the coming weeks could either save Scottish Football, or more importantly (likely), deliver the final death blow to our game. 6. Them above team struggled in a league where Dundee UTD and Aberdeen not only dominated Scottish Football but got to and in Aberdeens case won European trophies. The Aberdeen and Dundee UTD teams of that era were a joy to watch (but admittedly, they were brilliantly managed and coached by SAF and Jim McLean and a certain Walter Smith!)..... Cammy F

Yip, never realised that having twins, who are no well into the terrible two's would be like working back-shift and night-shift :-)
  8. Recently, this unwanted term has been pointed at Paul Le Guenâ??s Rangers team, Walter Smithâ??s Rangers team and Alex McLeishâ??s Rangers team. In all three cases this has been grossly unfair. Whilst discussing Greens comments on Saturday, one of my mates stated that this current Rangers team isnâ??t as bad as the team during the early 80â??s. That being the first Rangers team that I had the privilege of following week in, week out, I disagreed. Below is my best 11 from season 1983 season, the season in which Jock Wallace replaced John Greig as manager and I would bet that it would destroy the current Rangers team : Nicky Walker Jimmy Nicholl Craig Patterson John McLelland Ally Dawson Robert Prtyz Bobby Russell Ian Redford Davie Cooper Ally MCoist Sandy Clark Thoughts ? Prior to this season, me most recent exposure to the SFL3 was three years ago when after winning their Junior Super League, Bo'ness United progressed through the Scottish Cup qualifyinh rounds and were rewarded with a home tie against Queens Park (ironically our nearest title challangers). After a shakey start to the game where Queens capitalised and scored an opening goal, Bo'ness regrouped then for large periods of the game outplayed Queens and eventually won the tie 2-1. Their performance and domination wasn't reflected in the scoreline. I certainly didn't expect to win every game in SFL3 by cricket scores - I honestly thought that we would possibly lose a few games, but what I wasn't expecting was the constant poor performances. If our players applied themselves correctly we would overwhelm teams more often than not. On the flip side, I caught Neil Warnock and Alan Curbishly on Goals On Sunday and they were of the opinion that there is nothing harder in football than playing against teams of lesser ability on a weekly basis. Essentially, the better the opposition, the easier it is to adjust. We will win the league this year be it sooner or later and will have to await the outcome of reconstruction to see where we will be playing next season. One thing for sure, we will require to find a level of consistancy or the crowds will dwindle and the club will find it harder to move forward. Cammy F
  11. Simple mistakes not being corrected, 3rd division part-time players being able to out think our full time players and at times look fitter, hungrier and more professional. There was little excuse for the above last season when we were part of the Scottish Premier League and there is absolutely no excuse in the third division. Same goes for the inability to defend set-pieces especially when the manager insists in bringing everyone back behind the ball. If we get lucky.and clear the ball, it comes right back on top of us and usually results in confusion in the defence and or a loss of a goal. The manager should be getting more from players, team / squad but the players have a responsibility to ensure that they are delivering a consistent level.of performance that should result in them overwhelming the standard of opposition they are playing each and every week. Instead we see tepid performance with little or no urgency which is simply not good enough. Ally bought himself some time thanks to his outstanding contribution during administration, liquidation and the subsequent shambles of trying to build a team with no guarantee that the club would receive a license to play in any Scottish league. However this does not make him untouchable. Clammy F

  14. No crystal ball Pete - just a nagging doubt that the sums didn't, wouldn't and couldn't add up. And add that to the fact that I never trusted David Murray.

Yip bored the aliens stupid with my inane ramblings about a sport that they couldn't understand. My intention was to take a wee break from it all - websites, fanzines and Rangers in general as other things were happening in ly life - all good now though and the lure of GersNet was just far to strong.... 18. Once upon a time and a land far, far away there were a bunch of evil men (and women) whoâ??s only quest in life was to ridicule, spread evil lies, gossip and decry anything that the magical King (lets call him Sir David) of Ibroxshire did. Everything in the land of Ibroxshire was rosy, life was a breeze and all the citizens of Ibroxshire were spoiled day after day, week after week, month after month and year after year. Out of their ivory towers, the citizens would watch triumph after triumph, great player after great player, and if they were lucky, on very special occasions, they would be treated to moonbeams. Sir David warned his citizens of Ibroxshire of these evil people, they were not to be listened to, they were to be ignored and if they dared raise their voices in discontent, they were to be driven out of Ibroxshire by any force necessary. Sir David laughed as he informed his lapdogs in the media that these evil people knew nothing, they were lunatics, they were not to be believed. However, these evil people would not be silenced, they were a minority of the citizens of Ibroxshire, but they had platforms that allowed them to preach their gospel and they tried (in vain) to have the other citizens believe them. They did not resort to violence, but through the outlets available to them, they tried and tried to get people to dispose of Sir David. Yet as their numbers grow and more citizens, when provided with the relevant evidence started to listen to these evil people, the outcry against them grow and they were pushed further and further away. Sir David, as was his way, came out on the offensive and the evil people were ridiculed, decried and scoffed at. Yet they carried on, they followed on and they put the love of Ibroxshire ahead of any feelings they had towards Sir Davidâ?¦â?¦ Right, I know, Iâ??ve taken that too far and the current situation we are in is no fairytale, although we are all hoping for a fairytale ending. As someone who questioned Sir David Murrays management of the club for over 10 years, in the face of some very hostile vitriol, this was the outcome that we tried to warn everyone about. Some may say that this is going over old ground and that the â??blame gameâ?? will not help us out of the predicament that we are in. They may be correct, but one person and one person only put us here and that is Sir David Murray and that fact should never be forgotten. Sir David Murray not only put is here, he sold the club to Craig White. Anyone who believes that Craig Whyte somehow duped SDM is either deluded or down right stupid. Administration was inevitable, evern under SDM and liquidation is almost inevitable. For years, I have stated that SDM would not be remembered for 9-in-a-row (it started prior to his ownership anyhow) or anything else that he â??achievedâ??, as predicted, he is in danger of being remembered as the person who killed The Rangers. One shining light in this sorry saga is that the fans have all pulled together. The ire that they have directed at Craig White is understandable and welcome, but it is futile. If this anger and ire (are those the same?) were directed with such ferocity towards SDM a few years back, we might not have been here. However, no point in crying over spilt milk right? So the good ship Rangers sails on (just) and lurches from crisis to crisis the administrators are still trying to locate the money (if there ever was any) Craig Whyte invested, removed or otherwise from the Rangers coffers. This Rangers fan is still awaiting an explanation as to where all our cash went during the previous ownerships stewardship, never mind under this one. Murky, murky times folks and my irrational distrust of Sir David Murray has possibly blinded me from one potential saviours. I admit that I do not trust Paul Murray simple because of his surname, no other reason. Frankie has done some great work on getting information relating to the Singapore bid and it looks interesting and promising. Brian Kennedy just wonâ??t let his interest drop despite himself. I admit that I know nothing / little about the other bids â?? one of the four is now dismissed. Either way, hopefully the administrators will make the correct choice and pick the correct person to lead The Rangers out of administration and away from any danger of liquidation. The one nagging doubt I have is that everyone, including Ally McCoist are now mentioning liquidation. Itâ??s like groundhog day as prior to administration we were being warned about the dangers and possibilities of going into liquidation. I have a recurring dream that suddenly turns into a nightmare. Paul Murray and The Blue Knights save Rangers, we get a winning team back on the park, we eradicate the debt and pay off all that we owe, we start to shoots of recovery and the rose garden is almost blossoming. Then, Paul Murray suddenly pulls off his face and hey presto Sir David is backâ?¦â?¦.. Cammy F â?? There Is A Light That Never Goes Out
