Calum: I've got bunch of Celtic fans proud of my role in Rangers family
CammyF replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
Staunch..... Don't forget John Spencer..... In saying that I don't allow my kids to eat 'greens', drink lime juice, use green straws or wear anything green. In fact I removed them from nursery as they one of them was put in the green group. Behaving worse than tims here....- 48 replies

Remember reading it somewhere Zappa. There are so many stories going around about the Telfer situation it's hard to keep up with it all.

Didn't Telfer express a desire to leave last season prior to signing a one year deal? Will be interesting to see exactly how much game time he gets next season.

Plenty south of the border could though....... Not saying Telfer isn't a promising player but feel the hype around him and this "transfer" is over the top. The player as far as I can see had a clear choice - resign fir us or go to DUFC. He choose DUFC. Anyone to blame its the player or am I missing something?

If that is true I am surprised that only DUFC expressed an interest in Telfer. £200,000 to £2M in 12-24 months clubs should have been queuing around the block to sign him.

Really? What evidence have you seen to base this opinion on?

I have not been to Tannidice since Thompson forced us to pay for the rearranged game some years ago and I will not set foot in that hovel again. Also not been to Torbett Towers for years and its another hoveI i will not be back into. As for Telfer he had a choice to make and he has made it -if he prefers DUFC over Rangers then so be it. I will admit I have not seen much of Telfer but thinl it was The Evening Times who, in my opinion hit the nail on the head last week when reporting on this story. Telfer has somehow gone from promising youngster to the new Pele ........ won't be first or last promising player weve let go. Anyone remember Dean Furman....

England will squeeze out their group, limp into the quarters and fail to get any further. All about expectations - getting to quarters is a decent achievement for them.

Great to hear he us back fighting fit. Most exciting prospect to emerge since Barry Ferguson and reminds me off a young Ian Durrant. If he develops into a player who is even half as good as those two (I hope he can be ad good as them) then we have a player on our hands.

SBS - promotion should be a formality given our facilities and squad (don't think wage bill should be a barometer) but I believe a significant number of us have a horrid feeling that it will not be a formality. I have been challenging our custodians to drop the short-term approach for well over a decade but given the mentality of a vast majority of our support, it all has to be about winning, and as we have found to our cost, winning at ANY cost (even if the cost is not actually required). The for every fiver approach killed us and we are still in a very precarious situation which requires us to be back in the top flight next season (given we survive that long). I have purposefully stayed clear of the financial debates but if anyone really believes that admin 2 or a further liquidation is some romantic opportunity for a knight in shinning armour riding his white charger to save the day and suddenly turn Rangers into the perfect football club are in my humble opinion wishing for the impossible. Admin 2 and or liquidation would kill our club for good as would a delayed return to the top flight. As I have been saying for years there is so much wrong with Rangers but given the last few years I am just glad we still have a team and club but for how long is anyone's guess. My ambitions are still the same - I want a perfectly run club that is self sufficient, lives within its means, has a scouting and youth system that works and challenges and wins trophies at the top level. Will we ever get that? Probably not. Will we get close? Maybe.

SBS would you risk promotion to introduce these youngsters? Which youngsters would you play regularly?
-
Look back on the thread and I agreed that we have missed an opportunity to develop young players. However anyone who thinks next season is the time to introduce youngsters seriously underestimates the challenge ahead
-
Mcloed, aird, Gallagher, Clarke, Crawford allplayed parts during the season - sure more could have played but to say mccoist doesn't play young players is a myth. Apart from the above who have we got that could hold down a regular place? Are you suggesting that we should play unproven youngsters that may or may not have talent ahead of the likes of Templeton, Miller, Law, Black, Wallace, Moshni, McLoed, Aird et al next season?
-
In an ideal world but Rangers at this moment in time are a million miles away from an ideal world. Again I can't believe I am defending ally but he has given youngsters their chance. Lets be honest here, if we had 11 Lewis McLoeds or Fraser Airds we would be sorted but we don't. A long term vision would be great but we have not had the correct custodian to deliver this and probably never will have. Like it or not Rangers must win every game - if we dont its akin to a major disaster
-
Agree Mate but Miller is vastly experienced and has previously won over his doubters. He has shown he can handle the pressure and I think it would be grossly unfair on a youngster to hero pressure on them to get 20+ goals that could win us the title. Whilst Gallagher looked decent in his fleeting appearances he did not look outstanding merely a promising raw kid. Miller will help him and others off and on the pitch and I would say he is the best (by far) forward we have on our books. Put another way,if Miller had signed for Hibs or Hearts would it have made them more or less of a challenge to us next season? As for Ally he can depart tomorrow for me, I have no faith in his managerial / coaching abilities.
-
With all due respect we MUST win promotion at the first attempt so is gambling on Gallagher the right option? Is it fair to the lad to put the pressure of promotion on his young shoulders? Mccoist is in a no win situation - signs players who in theory should ensure promotion and get slated or gamble on unproven youngsters and fail and get slated - and this is coming from someone who would like him removed - agreed that we missed a chance two seasons ago but stakes are too high now
-
For where we are at the moment, the resigning of Kenny Miller is an excellent signing. He adds much needed quality in the forward areas. Lets be honest with ourselves, we MUST gain promotion back to the top flight instantly and there is no doubt that Miller will help achieve this (as would Boyd - but its less certain that he will join Miller at Ibrox). Summer transfer window: Official ins/outs and transfer rumours

We require a right back, two centre-halves, right sided midfielder and a striker - our funds might stretch to a new corner flag -
This could be interesting - be prepared for a hundred pager :-)

IMO he is a terrible manager but don't believe that this is his fault. -

This may be the same reason for his fall out with McCoist.......? -

Haha possibly :-) The McKay story came from someone I trust impeccably. Little / Mitchell story came from a friend who was a guest in hospitality at Falkirk on Saturday. The others are probably just the usual rumours doing the rounds lol -
