So where are we magically getting the required £5M from?

I don't think anyone has denied that he'd score goals for us. But so would Miovski who would cost the same, has better potential so why not the same clamour for him?

Where are we getting 4.5 million to use on our recent midfield addition? And who said its 5 million for Shankland? The Daily Record? We need to bring a striker in the next 3/4 days. Like all purchases/transfers, there will be significant risk attached. Getting to know the league, country, city, language etc. Shankland is also risk but there are so many factors eliminated if you buy him IMO.

Why are we still discussing Shankland? Out of our price range and doesn't fit the player trading model the manager keeps banging on about (and something we need to implement ASAP).

Miovski is in my opinion a far better player than Shankland, younger, would fit into our playing style and would have a far better return on investment. Not that we are likely to sign him, but a far better option than Shankland

As for Ridvan, if there ia any real offer on the table, take it and sell him.

I get the player trading model ideology but we need to win league titles. Not every purchase can fit the model. We need a striker to enable us to win the league. Shankland will score goals for us. It's a no brainer.

Talk of small turkey club galatasaray coming back in for Ridvan. Personally think we should hold on to him and see what he can do till the end of the season.

Unless the player is wanting away, I don't see why we would pursue his departure. Not unless his sale will fund a potential new striker coming in? I can only see Ridvan improving, making him a more lucrative asset (beyond cutting even).

This is a player who has made 18 first team appearances in his entire life, none in Brazil I'd add. I'm not entirely sure how he'll get a work permit, but that aside we're buying very much untried potential, he's unlikely to be ready for our first team. Both Diomande and Jefre are young players, playing in weaker leagues than ours looking to make a step up in standard. It's an interesting signing strategy, but it's risky. Whether either are currently ready to improve our first team remains to be seen.

I mean we've bought players from better leagues than ours and they've been disasters, so I'm not knocking this new strategy, just pointing out both these players might need time to adjust.

Is the Danish league weaker than ours?

I really don't care what Lammers does while playing for another club. He was universally shit when he had a Rangers shirt on his back ...... that's all that matters to me.

I do care because his success over there means we can rectify the outlay on him.

I read this same thing a year ago about Ryan Jack but he made 36 appearances for Rangers and 4 international appearances. Going by the way he was dismissed as a permanent crock you'd have thought he hadn't played half those games. In the first half of this season he's had 17 appearances and about 900 minutes for Rangers.

Given his age and injuries he will never again play 40 full games a season. We all know that. The question is whether 20 - 30 appearances by a really good midfielder justifies one more season on appropriate financial terms, given the current state of our squad and our c continuing affliction with injuries.

Personally, I think he will move on and probably play 30 games for another SPFL side.

Possibly but we need to move on.

Started for them today v PSV. Another good performance as a number 9. Subbed off to very good reception from Utrecht fans

First game in which PSV have dropped points this season. Prior to today's draw, they had won 17 games in a row.

  8. I remember seeing Mykhaylychenko make his debut. If I recall correctly, it was away to Falkirk at Brockville? The sun was shining and he came on as a sub and nearly scored from the half way line.

I must confess I'm not as confident as some that Shankland is the answer to our #9 problem. I don't watch a lot of the jam tarts, unless they are playing us, but I imagine he does not have to play against a low block every league game. Then there is his lack of pace. I am just not convinced he is the answer, but if we do get him I will be happy to be proven wrong.

They said the same about Boyd. His goals per game rate almost doubled when he went to Rangers. Shankland will score goals in this team. I have no doubts about that at all as he is an instinctive striker. Our only instintive striker is permanently injured (Roofe). If you consider misses in recent games like Tynecastle (Danilo) and Parkhead (Dessers) and add a Roofe or Shankland into the mix those missed chances become goals. Its that simple IMO.
