Should be an interesting game. Hoffenheim have also had a rather underwhelming pre-season so far with defeats to Strasbourg and Bundesliga 2 team. Will be looking for signs of what we can expect v Killie next week in todays line up.

Of course it is but this game has added significance due to the glut of new players, Beales first pre season, the proximity of the CL qualifiers and OF game et all.

I've said it before but if we can get through the CL qualifier and get to the OF game with 9 pts I'llbehappy. I genuinely don't care how we do it.

Jesus. An opening game on a plastic pitch against a McInnes team suddenly has become pivotal. I'm sure we'll be fine but definitely looking for signs of some sort of shape tomorrow. Beale will know who will be fit/match fit by the time we play Killie so let's see that replicated against Hoffenheim. Please bin the multiple subs at half time.

As much as I hate Sutton, this is a road that I don't want to Cantwell go down. He dived. It looked pathetic. 

I'm still waiting on the Suttons campaign on Celtics Japanese striker habitual diving. 

Fair enough but for me his record last year with the janury window, another managers players and key players missing has given him enough credit in the bank. 

I can't believe there is already a thread about potential alternative managers. Can I ask, would this thread have been started if we had beaten Olympiacos in a meaningless friendly?

Give it time. We are trying to integrate 7 new players during pre season friendlies which have involved highly rotated line ups? I get the lack of style argument and don't fully agree with MB's rotational teams (why play McLaughlin) but we need to show calm heads here. Last year we had a great pre season and looked amazing vs a Premier league team and look how that unfolded.

Just wanted to add a post script to previous comments...

We have Danilio coming in and everyone will undoubtedly get excited but Danilio won't make any difference if we don't have a discernable shape/identity. That is the key to getting the best out of our new recruits (and old faces).

As much as I feel that it's too early to start getting concerned, I have to agree with Frankie and Rousseau's previous comments. I have not seen any of the games but from what I'm reading from our learned bretheren on here we are rather disjointed and at this stage seem to lack an identity. Early days I know considering the mass rotation used over 3 games and the amount of new faces, its maybe not too surprising. What has surprised me is the rotation of key positions, for example, the goalkeeper. What could we possibly learn from playing goalie 2 and 3 in these games? Maybe Butland had a knock but for me this is a vital position that should be cemented early doors by the management. Butland hasn't come up here to rotate with 2 other keepers so get him playing every bloody game at this stage. The same with Ridvan. If he is your preferred left back, play him now and get him up to speed. Cameos and 45 minutes here and there are not what he needs. 

Much to ponder, but it is making me think that having too many options on the face of it is a luxury but can also be a curse. Don't keep tinkering Michael Beale. Pick your preferred team and go with it.

Did any of the new faces look the part?

Where does MB go from here?

 

Maybe there will be some magical transformation, before the serious stuff starts, next week, but there seems nothing on which to base such suggestion, and Kilmarnock on a plastic pitch begins to look like a nailer for points dropped. 

I can't answer any of those specific questions as I haven't seen any of the games but are you really surprised that we have shown inconsistent form in training exercises with multiple changes at half time and a glut of new players. We need to calm down and let the manager work it out.

Did any of the new players look the part? No; they looked like duds.

On holiday at the moment and have not seen 1 minute of live action in our 3 games. I'm slightly confused about the constant changes considering we have major games on the horizon. Why have we played 3 goalies in these games? What have we learned from that?

He is an eighteen year old lad who lost his Mother last year. He has one sibling, a younger brother and, the Father has not been on the scene for a dozen or more years. His Mum had long term severe health issues and was not always in a position to function.

Jesus. Don't be so hasty. Harry Kane had 4 different loan spells before becoming England's all time leading scorer and one of the highest scorers in the EPL. If Lowry goes on loan, I would prefer a Championship team or a team abroad. Preferably one that has a lot of posession. Not some lower league team in Scotland.

I wouldn't be so quick to move Lundstram. We'll need players to rotate. Lundstram knows our game and will come handy IMO. Too many of the conversations on who we should retain/let go seem predicated on a perfect starting XI that will play 38 games without an injury. That's not football.
