To be fair most of us ended up saying we would have been better in Europa last year. I think we will get our wish!

I just watched the highlights of the PSV game and it looks like Sturm Graz were adopting our defending playbook.

As a side note, De Jong is a monster and would have loved to have seen him in a Rangers Jersey. Reminds me of big Dado.

Did Jota go for £25m though ?

the yahoos are very good at manipulating their pals in the media.

Seems a very high price for a player who couldn’t cut it at Benfica or whilst on loan in la Liga

Agree100%. As I said before, their numbers are very similar so I hope we pushed hard for the highest fee possible. Beale has previously debunked some of the fees involved for our incoming players and I'm sure he stated yesterday that our summer trading should even itself out. We've only sold Colak and Sakala at this point and the best profitable asset we have is Kamara, so we shall see.

Team for home tie against Servette?

It was clear from the outset that Beale had called it wrong against Kilmarnock, so how would you change it against Servette?

    Butland

    Sterling

    Goldson

    Souttar

    Yilmaz

    Cifuentes

    Raskin

    Cantwell

    Lammers

    Danilo

    Dessers

It's a bold move to drop Tavernier but, frankly, he's anchoring us to too many old behaviours and needs to take a back seat. I also wonder about the sense in playing Souttar at left centre back when he's actually better that Goldson when played on the right but beggar can't be choosers.

I can't see Tav being dropped at all but this is definitely getting close to the team we should be looking to aim towards. Is it too early in the season? Who knows. European nights at a noisy Ibrox under the lights can do wonders. Here's hoping...

Thanks for showing this, but how would you interpret it ?

I was about to ask the same question. I like the odd stat but I don't need an  incomprehensible graph to tell me we were crap. I have a set of eyes.

  5. I'm holding onto the slim hope that we will turn this around. I remember being at the opening games in 86 (Easter Rd) and 98 (Tynecastle) and returning home equally despondent. Those seasons turned out be great in the end.

Draw for play-offs is tomorrow 7/8 at 11am. Maybe getting ahead of myself but it helps looking ahead and not behind.

It may be myopic but I genuinely can't think too far ahead in Europe after yesterday's shambles. We need to reassert ourselves domestically and after that mess yesterday the Livingston game is paramount.

Agreed.  Two up front, with either Lammers, Hagi or Cantwell in behind them.

Lowry isn't as good a player as the three mentioned, which is why he is on loan.

I don't think we needed Lammers, as Cantwell looked fine there last season and Hagi is also very capable.

We have to play 2 up front. We cannot spend the best part of 10 million on 2 players to have one on the bench.

Going to be very interesting how Lowry does on loan at Hearts. If he does well then questions need to be asked. He’s a type of MF player whom we don’t seem to have in the current squad i.e. gets forward to support the attack & goes beyond the strikers at times. A sort of Ian Durrant type of MF player

We have to remember playing for Hearts is immeasurably different from playing for Rangers. I fully expect Lowry to excell at Hearts and only confirm what we know. He's an excellent player. The true measure of his future at Rangers will not come down to his playing ability but more his strength of character IMO.
