  1. With regards to point 1, does anyone else think Lafferty and Moreles aren't suited as a front 2? I just can't see SG playing the 2 of them together. Would prefer to see Morelos with a creative player with an eye for goal just off him (hopefully Grezda).
  2. He has gone off the boil somewhat but at the same time I think we need to keep the lid on our own expectations and ultimately our assessment of players. He had a few decent games before his injury and people were being a bit hyperbolic about how good he was. IMO he was decent, no more, no less. These days form is almost judged on a game by game basis instead of more balanced appraisal over 12/13 games. For example, Katic was being harshly judged on his performance V Hamilton whereas a few weeks ago he was the best CB we have had at the club for years.
  3. Who the hell came up with the mind set of making subs at 60/70 mins (or even later). It's crazy. It was obvious to all that it wasn't working so make the changes. I would have hoped SG would be a proactive manager as opposed to reactionary when it came to subs.
  4. There is no hoodoo as such but what seems clearer by the days/weeks is that we are a very different team away from Ibrox.
  5. Agreed Frankie. I think the most frustrating thing was how we struggled make any impact on a truly dreadful Aberdeen team. On what I've seen this season Livingston are a level above Aberdeen (the table backs this up). It just feels like 2 steps forward then one back at the moment. Anyhoo...onwards and upwards. Sunday's game has added more spice/pressure/urgency to the game on wednesday. 3 pts is a must but I think we all want to see an improvement all over the park
  6. I agree about Morelos but we have been equally toothless when he has played.
  7. All the plans you have outlined revolve around the strikers. We should be able to change the game regardless of the striking personel (including Sadiq). If we made tons of chances and Sadiq couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo you could point fingers at him but we created next to nothing. That suggests to me that the striker option is not the core problem but our failings lie in the way we are set up behind the strikers.
  8. Windass was not the answer but I get where you coming from with regards to goals from midfield. I thought Coullibaly was the guy to do that but he is playing too deep IMO
  9. Good post John. Pretty sums up my own thoughts on the team and where we are at the moment
  10. All players should be doing double sessions on crossing. How many times did we hit the first man today? I lost count
  11. That particular type of cross is a pet hate of mine. It's easy to defend as it sits up in the air for so bloody long. Please ban this pointless tactic Stevie
  12. Hope is a bastard sometimes. Especially in football We are making progress and we've brought in some good players. Another thing to remember is that outwith McGregor, Lafferty and Arfield the average age of our squad is very young
  13. I don't think anyone thought that to be fair. I think people are just venting a bit because despite coming a long way (since last season), we still struggled to make any impact on a dreadful Aberdeen team. The EL run has probably skewed perspective somewhat
  14. Well said. I know I'll feel like this after a good nights kip. I think it's harder to stomach as it feels 2 steps forward then one step back. Thanks for being a voice of reason
  15. I hear you rbr. We're all hurting and probably venting a bit tbh. I think the concern is derived not from today alone but the 3/4 performances of late that have followed a similair pattern. ie a lot of huffing and puffing but very little to show for it. It doesn't seem we are learning from these blips in the road. That is the worry for me
  16. I have to agree. During the game today, I couldn't help but think that if we were playing them we would have got battered.
  17. As much as Morelos being missing didn't help, that had little bearing on the poor decision making and passing by most of the team.
  18. Not been to Hampden in years tbh. Last time I was there was to see Springsteen in 2013? Won't give them the money to watch football in that dump
  19. I really hope Grezda can step up and provide something different as we badly need a player like that. Kent is lively but his decision making and end product are poor IMO. Too many blind alleys for me. Candieas is another that is also full of energy and is a worker but his final pass lets him down. Today's result was a really, really hard one to swallow as Aberdeen were truly rank rotten.
  20. "We got into some good positions and either made the wrong decision or showed a serious lack of quality. If these players don't step up, it's simple at a big club: the manager goes and finds better quality." - SG
  21. Sorry buddy. I didn't think you were serious about Halliday up front ?
  22. Grezda was surely a better option today? Too many aimless high balls to Sadiq IMO. I also hate the fact that we made reactive substitutions as opposed to proactive changes.
  23. Not sure if it's big games. The problems today were repeats of Livingston and Hamilton. A lot of possession but we create very little with it.
  24. I would say it's all over the park tbh. We have decent workmanlike players but really miss that something special. Even Kent (who is getting all the plaudits) flatters to deceive IMO. His shooting and final ball are poor. Well pissed off
