Its all pointless discussing it now - he went to Dundee Utd and got a pretty hefty wedge for doing so.  At the 3 million quoted I think we should be looking at better.  But the common theme in the transfer market this window has been the dearth of strikers available - why is it US that loses one of only two recognized strikers to injury - why couldn't it have been Edouard ?

I think it would be loan if we are looking at a striker. God knows who that would be?

I would separate that mindset of being disappointed with the prospect of Morelos being out with how we deal with playing Ross County.   Absolutely we have the players to beat County even without several other first picks.  But that doesn't detract from the way we have played in the last 3 games and why many will see the return of Alfy as a way to spark a bit of form.

Fair points but I feel our failings over the last few games have been more about the effectiveness of our midfield and wide players as opposed to the merits of our strikers. Alfie undoubtedly offers something different to Defoe. No one is disputing that but the last three games are history. Let's not dwell on it and move forward with 3 pts tonight. Regardless of the personel?

I think its more disappointment as we really miss him given how integral he is to our preferred style of play.   We are undoubtedly a more consistent and better team with him playing.

Agreed but remember we have done it this season without Alfie. The 6-1 Hibs game at Ibrox springs to mind. Defoe started that game and hit a hat trick before Alfie entered the pitch. The same goes for the 5-0 win over Hamilton.

I just think if we establish a mindset that is effected by one or two absentees we are doomed to fail. Let's forget about the Hearts game and go and blow Ross County away. We have the players to do it.

It's literally in the posts before I posted.

And now there is someone claiming I've said there is no anti-British sentiment across the entirety of Ireland.  I never said that, I said I've lived here for more than three years and I haven't experienced anything, no one cares, they are just normal people like you or I.

I'm not saying there aren't people in the Celtic support like this, but not all the Celtic support are like that nor are all Irish people.

I have to agree tbh. As someone with an Irish wife and Irish grandparents from Dublin, I've spent a lot of time in Ireland. From personal experience, people are understandably very mindful of their own history but the overall mindset is one that is looking to the future rather than looking back. I've no doubt other people may have different experiences

I don't want to get along with people who turn a blind eye to child abuse, wave banners and scarves with anti-British slogans, wave Vatican flags, hang blow-up dolls off stands or who seem incable of maintaining basic hygiene standards.

Jesus wept. It was said in jest buddy.

I would say anti-protestant, anti unionist is far more prevalent in the Celtic support than anti-Irish and anti-Catholic is within ours.  It is, after all, their sole reason for being.

That's a lot of anti's. Can we all just not get along? ????

I digress as the manager picked Flanagan but didn't alter the midfield formation to mitigate for Flanagan's phobias of crossing the half way line and passing the ball in a forward direction.

There was a marked improvement with the introduction of Polster.

Agreed but Flanagan aside, we still had enough on the park to win that game

Kent didn't pick the team or formation yesterday, I think the result had probably more to do with the fact our manager is still a relative rookie who is learning his trade than Kent's performance.

I would suggest the fact that literally none of players turned up or showed an ounce of urgency had a greater effect on proceedings than the shortcomings of our "rookie" manager

I would actually go as far as saying I would prefer Katic to Helander anyway.  Katic is more physical than either Helander or Goldson and is an actual threat at attacking set plays as well.

But I definitely agree, that replacement makes little difference because Katic has done well since coming back in.

Morelos is clearly the big miss.  But perhaps now the Tav "haters" will also see just how unbalanced we are as an attacking threat when he isn't available.  Hearts closed down Barisic and barely made the effort to do the same to Flanagan because he offers so little going forward.

Are there's such people as Tav haters? I know he got some stick earlier in the season for some very high profile mistakes but surely that doesn't even go close to cancelling out the good stuff he brings to the team?

I am fed up saying this we need a midfield enforcer

    A right good hard ticket

Not sure if that's the problem with our midfield tbh. I feel we need more variety. For me Jack, Davis and Kamara offer much the same thing. Tidy possession play and a good fulcrum for the way the team operates. It's nice on the eye but what concerns me is the lack of threat from all three. We have 3 midfielders that will be lucky to get 10 goals between this season.
