Italy are useless, negative, defensive. They think just turning up at matches means they should win. Take Pirlo out of the squad and they are average. I think with age he may be asked to play more of a holding role. Perhaps allowing someone else to do the forward support, look what Kevin Thomson did against Celtic, a great one-two and a great finish.

We were looking at a rough-tough Argie left-back the other day who plays with Monaco. What happened there ? Just newspaper rubbish as usual or is there any truth to the matter ? I think Whittaker will start the season as right-back. But left-back is between Sasa and Stevie Smith at the moment. Sasa has a better defensive mind than Stevie but Stevie is better going forward. Tricky decision for Walt & Ally.

I thought Thuram was average against Holland and Romania, he made a lot of mistakes and only looks half the player he used to be. It can't be good for a team like the mighty Glasgow Rangers to be investing in 36 year olds. Weir apart obviously, but being battle-hardened in the Premiership for so long you could see it wouldn't be difficult for Weir to adjust to life in the SPL. Thuram however, is a step backwards in my opinion and a massive wage bill aswell !!

That's us with two new strikers, what about a new right back and maybe another creative midfielder ??

As much as we all admire King Carlos I just don't think he's good enough with his distribution to get into the Spain squad. He is a no-nonsense defender though if they do need him but that's maybe why.

I know before the group started that Romania were the underdogs in the group of death but after the first two rounds of matches you can see that they actually play more attractive football than France and Italy !! Whether they beat Holland or not though is the problem. Italy or France could still sneak through and perhaps go all the way which is typical Italy or France though isn't it.

There is a ring to it aswell. Van Basten scored 'THAT VOLLEY' 20 years ago against USSR in the final in a 2-0 win. Now he's the manager. I think it's in Hollands favour already. tbh............Holland, Spain and Portugal look a class ahead of the rest. Portugal were my pre-tournament favourites but to be honest I wouldn't mind any of those three winning it because of the total football that they play.

Italy are jammy as fook. Thought Romania played the better and more attractive football. It was a penalty in my opinion as Panucci had his arm round the boy's throat and pulled him to the ground but what a save by Buffon. Just France v Holland tonight........................what a hardship !! Missing the Scots not being there though for the shot-taking purposes of course !!
