  1. Where are your predictions? Coward!
  2. I'm looking forward to seeing Hungary. They are considered dark horses by some, winning their, albeit weak, qualifying group unbeaten.
  3. Musiala was frightening at times. He ripped Ralston apart which pleased me.
  4. Disastrous start from @Franc Ergs wasting his JOKER. @der Berliner was a couple of minutes away from a Correct Score.
  5. They have a couple a wrong'uns.
  6. That's a red, surely?
  7. What a goal.
  8. Yaaasss.
  9. 'Mon the Boche.
  10. My post was more of a dig at Bayern, rather than a comment on Utd sacking Ten Hag, was it not? I did think the new owners would make a change, but there's very few options out there. Bayern went for Kompany!
  11. Scout: I've seen this player that looks quite good. He plays— Koppen: How old? Scout: 20-years-old. Koppen:
  12. Looks like an aggressive, front-foot centre-back. That's all of our three signings only 20-years-old. No messing about from Koppen.
  13. GvB is becoming my all-time favourite person.
  14. Former Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst is pondering a move for Ibrox midfielder Tom Lawrence as he begins to assemble a new squad at Turkish club Besiktas, while Ipswich Town and Sheffield United are also keen on the 30-year-old. (Daily Mail) Bayern Munich would accept £850,000 for 20-year-old winger Yusuf Kabadayi, who is said to be attracting interest from Rangers, St Pauli and Lecce. (Der Werden via The National) Rangers-linked Harry Souttar says that, if Enzo Maresca was still in charge, he would be looking to leave Leicester City this summer, but the 25-year-old Aberdeen-born Australia centre-half will now wait to see if he can win more game time under whoever is the new manager. (Glasgow Times)

  18. [Bülent Uslu] Giovanni van Bronckhorst requested the Beşiktaş management to go for right-backs James Tavernier and Steven Berghuis. Not sure about the credibility of the source.
  19. Beckenbauer was probably the quintessential libero. Yes, which is why I said that the position could be defensive or attacking.
  20. Yes, but then it doesn't resemble the old style formation, which was the point of the post.
  21. That all-round game has been coached out of modern players, because their roles are now specialised. Being supprime at one role will always trump those players that do a bit of everything.
  22. Basically what you see today, but reversed: Man City play a 4-3-3 on paper, but in attack it morphs into a 3-2-5. What you're describing is a modern #8. Your imaginary rectangles are virtually what is called the half-space today - with the exception that it doesn't go to the touchline and leaves a central channel, too. Yet a #8 will be expected to cover those areas regardless.
