  1. Correct Result and Correct Score will be determined at the end of normal match play ( 90 MINS + Extra Time). Penalty results will not be considered when calculating the points scored.

dB: if the score ends Croatia 2-2 Portugal after 120 minute, then you'll get full points.

  2. Could you tell me the position regarding extra-time and penalties.

If I did e.g. 1-1 and it went to E.T and/or Penalties, how would my score stand at the end if it was 1-1 after 90 mins.?

Good point. I think it's best, considering a draw is 1/3 of the options, if we take the Score at the end of normal match play, so 90 minutes + Extra Time. Penalties will be not be considered.

    Thanks for bringing it up!

  4. The games yesterday were not as fruitful as they could have been, and while the 4th game yielded a point for most, only one gained full points.

Bearman, compo, dB, BEARGER and YB (Yorkshire Bear) gained 1 point for the Hungary-Portugal game; no one gained full points.

Cooponthewing, BEARGER, the gunslinger, blueflag and Pete gained 1 point for the Iceland-Austria game; with Cooponthewing and blueflag gaining full points!

For the Italy-Ireland game, only buster got any points; but they were full points!

Most got a point for predicting the Belgium win against Sweden, but only blueflag gained full points for correctly predicting the 0-1 scoreline.

blueflag moves up several places in the table with full points from two of the four games.

(Mrs Craig is still ahead of Craig...)

But buster. retakes the lead with his 4 points from the days games!

    Latest Standings:

  5. The first two games were relatively high scoring, with the majority gaining points for the Germany and Poland wins. TB and Pete gained full points for one of the games, correctly predicting the score. Whosthedado gains full points for both early kick-offs!

But, it's the moment we've all been waiting for: with full points on both 17:00 kick-offs, Mrs Craig overtakes Craig in the table. Terrific predicting from Mrs Craig!

The 20:00 kick-offs were low scoring. Coopontheeing and Little General correctly predicted the Turkey win gaining 1 point. But special mention to dB who was the only person to claim points in the Croatia-Spain game, gaining full points for correctly predicting the 2-1 Croatia win.

Whosthedado creeps into the lead, wth buster. just 2 point behind. We have a close four-way contest for third spot.

    Latest Standings:

  6. The German set-up is quite interesting. They have no striker; Gotze is used as a false-nine, with Ozil also floating around him. It's a standard 4-4-2, but very flexible. It'll be interesting to see how they will approach what will be a compact NIR defense.

Oops! They actually have big Gomez up front today! It's still a 4-4-2, but with false-wingers (Gotze and Ozil) -- if you'll permit the 'hipster-ism'!

The wingers tuck inside, with the fullbacks playing very high and wide to provide width. They also have two sitting players to cover though. I think that's what Rangers need at times -- if we persist with aggressive fullbacks.

Dismiss it if you like, but it really does underline how important a 'philosophy' is to a team -- a formation is just a framework; it's how you utilise it that counts.

  7. I'm pleased we've got more than one game today, but the simultaneous scheduling means more work for me!

NIR-Germany could be a good one, although I presume it'll be a packed NIR defense against a dominant German possession game. Tactically interesting, if a bit dull at times.

Croatia-Spain will be another good one; two of the better teams thus far. Hopefully the fans behave themselves.

  8. Team selection is seldom not an issue if you change 6 names.

It was Walker and Rooney that stood out and the Slovakian manager must have been dancing when he heard this.

I'm not so sure. It's only an issue if it doesn't work. I think it did work, but they didn't put it in the net; which is something they've struggled to do all tournament. We've seen two line-ups that have struggled to do the same thing. If Hodgson didn't change it and got the same result, would we not be asking why not? However, they were playing against packed defenses, which is always difficult.

I agree certain player omissions were unnecessary, like Walker and Rooney.

To be fair though, I don't think one could call it a weakened side!

  9. Everyone keeps going on about the chances England had but not one person has mentioned that slovakia had the best 2 chances of the game and they were 2 real sitters.

Very true. My point was that team selection shouldn't be an issue.

One could argue their defense has not been tested yet, as they've dominated their games against sides that weren't looking to play.
