  1. If those are your two options, all of it.
  2. I think you need to read up on it.
  3. We'd need to judge the recruitment alongside the performances on the pitch going forward. Murty is not a good manger either. You could argue our recruitment has been good, but the manager has not been able to do his side of things.
  4. 'Big team', great players doesn't guarantee success. His tactical innovations has taken them to a new level. I'm not discussing this any more; it was an aside. We'll just agree to disagree.
  5. He was involved in the turnaround, wrt to the behind-the-scenes development of young players; it's one of the reasons why he was appointed. I don't get this need to dismiss a manager's record, or performance, as nothing special simply because he's at a big team. Anyway, this is not the point of the thread. I only mentioned him because he exemplifies the 'right man for the job' idea.
  6. Subjective. The stats show he's one of our best contributors to goals, whether that's scoring them, assisting them, or being involved in the build-up. I don't mind dropping him for a rest, or to suit the tactical plan etc., but I have no time for some of the criticism bandied about.
  7. No way can you say that. He's transformed them. There was a period of 10 years where they were garbage. If it's the right man anyone one of those teams will be successful -- maybe not Scotland... -- and conversely, the wrong man will have them languishing.
  8. Yes, my mistake. Low does have an ok group of players. Mourinho wouldn't, but Guardiola would!
  9. Yes, we weren't that good against Hearts; they made us look good. Nothings really changed.
  10. From a certain point of view, one could argue that Potter is pragmatic, respected and has experience over a number of years. The issue is perhaps the level of that experience. Defeating Voldemort is no small achievement... *gets coat*
  11. One could argue that he is pragmatic. Experience maybe an issue, but it shouldn't rule anyone out if they are the right candidate -- I'm repeating myself, but Joachim Low.
  12. Maybe, but Potter has been successful over a longer term, albeit in the Swedish lower leagues. Experience should rule anyone out, as long as they're the right candidate. Joachim Low was a nobody before taking Germany to new heights (relatively speaking!).
  13. The DoF should be doing that. Then any manager should be scouted to meet those needs and philosophy. Southampton keep a black box on managers that they want to, or could, continue their style and philosophy. The managers fit into the club's philosophy.
  14. There are negatives -- although your's is just local culture I presume, so he'll not be doing that here! It's a big step up for him. It's a good step for him. For us, maybe too much of a gamble? Again...
  15. The Club shouldn't be fitting around a manger's philosophy, the Manager should be fitting around the Clubs philosophy; the Club needs to scout a manager that fits.
  16. I would be excited by Potter, but it would be quite a step up for him. He plays a modern game. He talks about the half-space and overloads!!
  17. So is the constant negativity around him. It's dripping out of every post.
  18. Great! He's our best player.
  19. That does not make sense. Especially when they are defenders. Hill has been in teams that conceded 8 goals against Celtic (13 if you include the game he was on the bench), whereas Alves has been in teams that conceded 5. Both have gained 1 point. I REST MY CASE!!
  20. McGinn's a good player -- although he's not a goalscorer (20 goals in 6 seasons). If we could get him, we should go for it. However, it's very unlikely, as Frankie outlined.
  21. Alves is better than Hill. Don't @ me.
  22. Swansea to challenge Celtic and Rangers for Dundee star Glen Kamara this summer https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/6125414/swansea-celtic-rangers-dundee-glen-kamara/
  23. How long has Allan got left on his Celtic deal? I'd still take him: he's near the top of most creativity stats; he's the natural #10 that we're crying out for. I'd also take Dundee's Aurtinxatse (sp? whatever) and Kamara. Again, they do very well in the stat department.
  24. Yes, Birmingham. He's hardly thriving either...
