  1. Back to the theme of the thread: Allegedly, we are interested in Motherwell's Ben Heneghan? Considering Motherwell have conceded more shots than anyone else this season it doesn't look too good, but that doesn't mean to say this guy is the problem; also, having Jaap Stam -- one of the best defenders in the game -- interested suggests he has something about him?

    Pinch of salt?

Rangers are one of at least three clubs interested in signing Motherwell centre-half Ben Heneghan, according to Sky sources.

The defender only has one year left on his contract and is expected to leave Fir Park, with Motherwell fighting to stay in the Scottish Premiership.

We understand Reading - who could be playing Premier League football next season - have also made initial enquiries, as well as Cardiff.

The 23-year-old featured among the youth ranks at Everton and Stoke before signing for Chester.

He joined Motherwell on a two-year deal in the summer of 2016 and made his debut against Rangers in the group stages of the Betfred Cup.

Heneghan has made 40 appearances for the Fir Park side, who are 11th in the Premiership, which is the relegation play-off spot. They are four points clear of bottom side Inverness and level on points with Hamilton.

Sky sources also understand that defenders Clint Hill and Philippe Senderos will leave Rangers at the end of the season.

  2. Just shows you the mess the KNVB are in. A man who walked away leaving them in the lurch the last time for more money. Left Belgium in the Lurch for more money and leaves nearly every club he goes to in the lurch for more money. The guy is just a money wolf and has even sneaked out of his Hotel when he was at South Korea to join Zenit without even telling William van Hannigem his assistant he was leaving. It shows you how toxic the Dutch team has become when they can't find a better candidate than him.

This also has another side to the story. Hans van Breuklen the technical director of the KNVB travelled to the Emirates and told Henk ten Cate that he had the job. A few days later Van Breuklen phoned ten Cate and said I know I told you you had the job but we also want to talk to Dick Advocaat first. Ten Cate told him in a nice way to stick the job up his rectrum. The KNVB is in a worse state than the SFA.

The president of the KNVB called a press conference and intimated that the KNVB had taken measures and had dotted out a new route for the Dutch team. Then he intimated with pride that the new route was that the Dutch team were not going to lose again. Winning was the game plan.

Pete -- was there not a popular outcry for a younger coach, rather than the old tried-and-tested? I was expecting someone younger, fresher, but you can't get any more tried-and-tested than Dick!

  3. What was our formation in the first half, wasn't to sure myself but some are saying it was a straight 4-4-2?

I thought he was going with the diamond again but in truth I ain't got a clue? It was hard to tell as the players don't seem to understand what is expected of them?

The second half was a bit better and bizzarely the players seemed relatively comfortable when we went 3-4-3 then 4-2-4.

It was a straightforward 4-3-3, albeit with a few players playing in different roles - Windass and Miller were playing quite deep.

  4. Not done the numbers but would take a stab we have better goals for and also against since he came in. Certainly had more clean sheets in his short time than during the rest of the season combined

Exactly; 4 clean-sheets in his 7 games. The last time we kept a clean-sheet was January. And that's with Bates and Beerman in the back-four.

  5. I have no dislike for him in fact the contrary is true I quite like him. I just don't think he is the person to take us to the next level as I don't think anyone understands his team talks or tactics. Surely your not disagreeing that the team has got worse since he came in? Murty had us playing reasonable football and we gave the tims a good game.

Actually, I am. I'll post it again:

And, actually, I did a quick calculation and it turns out Pedro's record is better than both Murty and Warburton, so "gone backwards" is a complete fallacy. Murty picked up 1 point-per-game, Warburton 1.7 ppg, but Pedro has picked up 2 ppg.

  6. A manager or coach should be able to make players play to the best of their ability. This team has went backwards since Pedro came in.

With all due respect, I think your blinkered by your dislike of PC, which I just don't understand considering he's just in the door.

  8. I think the managers ideas are better suited to better players. The only criticism I have of PC just now is that he's changing tactics too much, with players that are just too rubbish to execute them.

The season is a write-off, so I'm glad to see PC giving the youngsters a go. We've been saying it all season: we need a massive clear-out and upgrade in every position; the manager can't do anything about that just now.

I thought Garner was good today. He didn't get much service, but when we did he won everything, both in the air and into feet; and a good finish for the goal.

  9. A few good scores today. Everyone who entered gained 1 point of the Correct Result - except Frankie...!!

Cooponthewing, rbr, BEARGER, BH, YB, 26th, PJ_1872, SBS, StuGers, Yorkie, Gribz and Lenny3k gained another point for Correct Number of Rangers goals.

No one had McKay as FGS

Finally, Cooponthewing, BEARGER, BH, YB, 26th, PJ_1872, SBS and Lenny3k gained another 3 points for the Correct Score!

We have a new leader in Yorkshire Bear (YB)! Which is great news... :brick:

  10. We started ok, then we concede a silly counter and now any ball into our box is causing us trouble. The heads have went down. Embarrassing.

The long ball was working, but we haven't taken advantage of it. Garner has won everything in the air.

It's a 4-2-1-3, which suits our forwards, but they're just rubbish. I like Windass, but I don't like him beside Holt; there's no strength there. What's the alternative? Halliday? I'm not sure that would work any better.
