PC's team selection's have been unorthodox to say the least, but I think they've been forced. Injuries to the back four have meant he's had to play youngsters; the positive there is that they've done not too badly and we've actually looked a tad more solid.
We were light anyway in midfield -- both in terms of numbers and physicality -- so he's been forced to play certain players, like Miller and Windass, out of position.
He's been ruthless with players too, and clearly doesn't trust some of them; Halliday played a couple and was shafted, same with Holt -- he seems to prefer Barjonas at the minute.
I'm not sure the formations have been "puzzling", because it's clearly a 4-3-3; which, again, I think is forced. MW played that way and has players more suited to that formation, like Dodoo and Waghorn; again, PC seems forced to adopt it too. Ideally, he'd like to play 4-2-3-1 with a more compact structure but we just don't have the players to do so.
Positives? He's managed to incorporate a bunch of youngsters into the team; we're a tad more solid defensively, despite having the same crap; we've generally scored more goals; there's a directness that we've wanted for months, which maybe goes too far at times, but I doubt this side's capable of playing better any other way; he's managed to get the best out of Garner and the youngsters, who don't look out of place; he's tactically versatile, willing to change when he gets it wrong, or if some players are not doing it, or we just need to change it depending on the opposition.
There are positives if we choose to look. I'm mystified as to this reaction to a man that's just in the door, and been saddled with the same chronically under-performing team.
(Apologies -- it was a general point that seemed to morph into a response to JohnMc!)

A good few youngsters came through at the end there, more through necessity than anything else, but they've done well. I wasn't able to see the game, but a few are suggesting Barjonas did well?

The penultimate game of the season ends with only Gribz and compo gaining 1 point each for predicting the Correct Number of Rangers Goals.
No one got the Correct Result, FGS or the Correct Score.
It's all square at the top between Rousseau and Yorkshire Bear going into the final game!

How can you not love him? He's a psycho:

I think it will definitely be a 4-2-3-1 with Pedro, with a few changes here and there depending on the opposition. Our current "best" side in this set-up is probably:
Foderingham
Tavernier - Bates - Wilson - Wallace
Holt - Toral
Waghorn - Miller - McKay
Garner
Clearly, there are a few players (a) not good enough, and (b) playing out of position (or © leaving!). I don't know where to start? We need new CBs, FBs, DMs, RM, AMs and STs.
I think we really need a couple of strong, imposing (with ability to pass) DMs as priority; take care of that and our defense is passable. We need someone to finish too, but I still think Garner could still work if we play to his strengths as PC indicated.
We're not going to be able to replace the entire squad.

I had assumed permission was granted to post the photos. As it seems permission was not granted, I've now removed them.

May have to change the 3-1 Holt strategy for next season
"Strategy"?

Thought someone would have commented on the pass from Foderingham to McKay in the 2nd half.
No... it was a peach of a pass. He's done it before, I think? Doesn't fit the narrative that he's s****, I suppose; there were still people moaning that he did it.

There's been an improvement under PC, but we're hitting a brick wall with these players.

Lightweight all round. What a useless set of players.

Oh well, that's probably why PC doesn't want us to control the ball a bit: we're lightweight in midfield.

Is that the first time PC has not made numerous changes at half-time? Must be happy.

That goal was superb too: crisp passing out of defense, attacking/breaking with pace, a cross into the box and a terrific diving header from Garner. 2 points coming my way!!

We've played well, but I'd have liked to have seen us control the ball a bit more; we've been attacking, but it just gives them control of the ball quicker. We have control now, but it's taken a sending off.
I like the directness; we've been quite good at creating chances. Windass looks much better further forward, and Garner has been excellent. Toral's passing ability in DM has been crucial too.

There looks to be quite a nice balance to our team today. Windass looks to be in the No.10 role, which will suit him more.

I don't know why it's taken me quite so long to realise, but it really is either black or white with SBS. From thinking Conte was a poor choice, he's not that good to "greatest manager in the world".
I always thought Conte was a brilliant Manager right from his Juventus days, with his tactical nous, to his Italian side which was really impressively drilled considering they had an average squad -- and I'm delighted for him and Chelsea -- but he's got a long way to go to being considered the greatest.
